Found an interesting stat; of all referrals, that is visits to the site via another site such as a search-engine, link etc. opposed to a bookmark or typing in the address manually, ~30% of these referrals are performed via translation, with almost all of them being in Japanese. So here's a shout out to the native Japanese speaking visitors! I might need to think about installing some more language packs on the forums and throw in some localised discussion boards!

Around 12.5% of referrals are from PlayShapes' Newgrounds page and flashes, thanks for the links!

Also of interest, around 45% of users seem to be browsing the site in FireFox, while closer to 35% are Internet Explorer, with Safari in 3rd place at 10%.

45% of logged transfer are actually the source-files! To this end I've temporarily disabled the direct downloads to see what difference this makes on our bandwidth use and load-times, as deposit-files should be faster for most users anyway.

We've also had a few cheeky requests for http://www.legendofkrystal.com/game/Legend%20of%20Krystal%20v0.3.swf, as if we'd host the game there and not release it!

True true, I'm not exactly a fan of torrents, but given that *we* exceed the bandwidth for the server, it would come in handy to replace a direct link from the server, but of course, using RS, MU, DF and whatever they're called would work as well

The bandwidth limits aren't being exceeded yet, not even close as the current cycle (monthly) estimate is ~177gb out of a total of 10.64tb
Disabling the direct links to the source files cut the bandwidth usage in half, I'm a bit surprised that they were being downloaded so much though as I wouldn't think so many people would be donwloading them manually which suggests that they're being auto-downloaded by bots or something, but the robots.txt file should prevent them from doing that.

In any event, what it means that while the game itself ought to be hosted here with direct links just fine, not sure about the source files though. We'll certainly stick to external links and/or torrents for the v0.1 and v0.2 source files, but for v0.3 and beyond we'll be using lots of smaller files with a version control system, so they won't be directly accessible, will just have to try it and see I suppose

It's been a little while since I last looked at the site statistics, but I was pretty surprised by some of them!

Bandwidth usage for the site is estimated at over 800gb of data served per month.
LoK v0.2 has been downloaded over 35,000 times from deposit-files, and at least 100,000 times from the site itself.
There are over 160,000 links to this site from other locations, including 2,680 links to the FAQ.
We have over 25,000 posts on the forum, including 863mb of attachments.
