So i find it funny how people see having a work life as the worsting thing possible.
My dad he enjoys a good challenge so he finds jobs at work that nobody will take and every one says will fail.
The basic idea is if he fails every one was expecting it. If he succeeds he seems to be a magic man.

And the best part... he enjoys it.

With US economics, the less you make, the more you have.
"Thanks to your unfortunate life, I've found myself being more and more grateful!"

Kind of, the more you make the less you have.

Well you'd be surprised how many people don't have a high income and are considered rich.
If you were to pick them out of a line up of who's rich they wouldn't be notice most of the time.

The rich are rich not because they can keep a income to support their life style but because they live below their means.

The problem with what you proposed Bluelight is that the working poor spend less then they make and because of it suffer. I spend less than I make, and I am living on 15k a year. I am lucky in that I own a house however.

Since this thread is about life I thought I would share a very important life discovery I made;

They make bubble-tea iced milk bars. It has a gray stripe of lapsung syen dark tea, and one stripe of frozen creamy milk. It is put on a stick and has pearls (tapioca). Its between ice-cream and Popsicle consistency, and has literally flipped my world upside down! If I die tommorow I wouldn't mind, my life is complete.

Life wouldn't be so bad if I can continue this standard of living, a computer, internet, phone, this new ice cream, my house, and maybe a good job and finishing my education.

Thaedael Wrote:Cities are a form of mutual indebtedness to one another. I give up some of my freedoms so that other freedoms can be guaranteed. This can be seen in the form of how we deal with real estate laws etc. Which is a different bag of worms since only an exceptional few of us on this forum are fortunate enough to own our homes. However the way we redistribute wealth can be a good thing. Society is only as good as it treats its weakest member. Granted I don't live in the USA so my opinion and life experiences may be vastly different from your own.

That being said, we live in a post-fordist society in most of the north-western world in which the easy days of paying someone 30k a year for turning a screw is over. This is because manufacturing has been moved away to places where labor is cheap. So our economic activities are centered around being highly specialized yet diverse. This is because most companies are smaller now specializing in non-vertically-integrated supply chains that deal with just-in-time production as opposed to just-in-case production. This means that we need to become highly specialized to fight for what the few jobs there are. The good news is that after the baby boomer generation, the generation bust will take most of the best positions, in which the rest will fall on the subsequent generation. The population across the world is also plateauing and is looking like in 2050 will begin to decrease to sustainable levels.

What this means is that jobs will be available but higher education will be a must. For my field, I need 2 years experience as well as a masters degree. Most parents will see this as a must or else their kids will fall into the service industry where they won't meet the lifestyle they themselves have met. So ya there is pressure obviously to be a perfect person. However I have a friend of mine, who dropped out of university, does drugs, makes comic books, runs a book store, as well as goes on tour all the time on his band and he is doing fine. Enjoy what you do, and budget yourself well and you can go wherever you want.

A wise man once said, life is what you make of it.

But yeah, I don't consider my life to be that bad. I'm on £12k a year, and living below my income. I have a computer, internet access, a roof over my head, and enough food to eat. I have enough cash at the end of every month to allow me to have an ongoing magazine subscription (Fortean Times), as well as pay for MMO's that I only play infrequently, pay a regular amount into an ISA, pay into a pension and still have enough to buy things from Games Workshop - and everyone who knows them, knows that their prices are rather high.

I don't consider myself to be rich at all and, if I owned my own home, then my expenses would be alot higher than they are right now. I would have to cut back on everything in favour of that and, if I had motorised transport, that would suck up even more cash.

Overall, I'd say that I'm happy with my life where it is right now. It's not perfect, and could be better, but I've learned that compaining does nothing, and I can't influence the outcome of events that have happened, or are not related to myself. I wasn't one of those kids who gets incredibly stressed over GSCE / high school results possibly not being straight A's and go hang themselves. I took the hand I had been dealt, and went with it
One way, or another, I'm going to find you, I'll get you, I'll get you!

Well fuck!... We got snow this winter and it fucking sucks since i have to drive in it and my area is full of idiot rain drivers which is worse than idiot snow drivers.
Anyways this is my first time drive in snow and it fucking sucks.
I was driving in it and I had to put 4 wheel drive on twice. At least it seems the real idiots had enough fun spinning out sunday.

I hate snow driving, in my city snow tires are mandatory however this year snowfall came way later than usual. It has now snowed to the equivalent of 4 feet of snow, though the snow removal here is top notch, some people just don't know how to drive.

On a side note, I want to throw something positive out here. I not only got into my first choice program last semester, but now I got accepted into a double honors specialization! Two more years of classes to go, and maybe even a 2 year masters program !
