Terry casually glances at each item when you bring it out, giving each an appraisal by the time you set it down on the counter. He even adds up the total value as he goes, showing off quite the math skills. It may have been simple addition, but the effortless speed in which he does it is pretty impressive. With the ones you're for sure selling out of the way, you then ask for information and maintenance, in which he nods, willing to do this. You bring out the milspec 9mm first, making his eyes light a little as he picks it and gives it a once over. When you pull out the Vortex Crossfire though he practically forgets out the fancy 9mm. His eyes light up, the man clearly very interested in the rifle. He puts down the milspec 9mm and picks up the rifle, holding it in a standard low grip before raising it to a shooting position, making sure not to point it your way. He looks through the scope for a bit, tweaks with the scope, works the bolt over once or twice after letting out the 6 shot magazine it had. After a minute of playing around with it he sets it down on the counter and stares at it for a moment, giving the weapon an appreciative whistle. "One sec.", he says.

He turns around and heads to one of the heavy steel lockers behind him, but when he opens it this one is filled with books and magazine. He begins to peruse it, clearly looking for something specific, and it doesn't take you look to realize it was a huge collections of fire arms books, ranging from technical manuals to the ever popular Gun's n Bullets Magazine... just about every issue of it too by the looks of it! After about another minute he pulls one out, and flips through the pages until he finds what he wants. "There we go... Vortex Crossfire.", he says, before bringing the book over and showing you an prewar advertisement of the rifle. "One of a limited series of rifles targeted at the kind of rich collector types. Only around 5000 made, meant for hunting bigger game like bears or more exotic things that used to exist overseas. Meant for the well off gun collector. They cost 23,000 dollars!", he explains, before looking it over again. "I've actually seen one before, but it was weathered and beat up like a lot of things. This one is in perfect condition though, not even so much as a fleck of missing bluing or a single scratch! Must've been in a sealed gun locker when you found it, or at least not that long ago before you found it. It's a fantastic find.

"The pistol meanwhile, well it's definitely less impressive but still pretty good. It's a P229 model used by prewar police. This one has an added red dot sight, muzzle brake, under barrel laser, and professional gripping. It doesn't shoot any harder but it is lightweight, and has so little kick that it's really easy to aim.", he then adds.

When you ask about maintaining your 10mm and trusty bolt action he nods, before telling you the total of what you wanted to sell currently. "So far with the guns and ammo you want to sell I'm willing to give you 588 caps. However since you've brought in a very special piece I'll make you an offer for it. I'm willing to give you 2300 caps for the Vortex Crossfire.", he then offers. You nearly wheeze at that, not sure if you've ever sold such a high value item before. However the Vortex Crossfire has a straight upgrade to your firepower that you'd likely need given some of the things you might be going up against in the future... then again Terry did have a lot of guns. Maybe you could get something more common but just as damaging?

While Joy had a feeling the Vortex Crossfire rifle would get his attention she was still surprised by his reaction as if she just brought him some sort of legendary treasure. When he gave it a whistle Joy had a feeling that this rifle was much more valuable than she originally thought as he then puts it down and has her wait for a moment as he goes through a locker of books and magazines. It only takes her a moment to recognize them as an assortment of fire arms books and magazines, and quite a bit collection as well that seemed well organized too as it seemed like he had ever issue of Gun's n Bullets in there. He eventually pulls one out and shows her a page that displayed the Vortex Crossfire on it. "Yeah, the condition I found it was surprising since I got it from a raider den. I assumed either they just found it or forgot about it in the corner behind some stuff where I found it." She tells him a bit about where she came across it.

Then he gets to the pistol that he pretty much ignored when he saw the rifle. "I see... Would you say it's better than my 10mm? I guess I could carry both but I might try to carry less if possible." She tells him as while the 9mm was modified well the 10mm was a bigger bullet so she assumed it is stronger, though being lightweight with little recoil makes the 9mm rather appealing too.

Then he makes a deal on the Vortex Crossfire, an offer that nearly made her wheeze in shock. She's never made that amount all at once before, and certainly not on any single item too. However she did plan on using it for the stronger things she might face, like super mutants or deathclaws but the offer was extremely tempting. "That's... quite a lot to bed honest. Though I was planning on using it since I might be encountering some strong things soon. But tell you what; this seems much more valuable to you than me since you said it's more of a collector's item. Anything less rare than this that you can provide that packs around the same amount of punch?" She offers. In her time as a scavenger Joy has often come across items that were much more valuable to collectors or certain individuals than other people, like that time she encounter this person that bought Nuka Cola related items from her at a high price. What a strange lady she thought at the time. This situation isn't much different; this rifle was much more a collector's item than a weapon to be used often so it might be better in his hands than hers. "Considering how rare this is and the condition I assume there's something you can provide in addition to a large sum of caps. I mostly just need something to help me keep the big things away, a good addition to my hunting rifle and pistols."

"Honestly the 10mm bullet does do a little more damage technically, but with such a slight increase in size it barely makes any real difference. What you might notice slightly better is that the 10mm can retain velocity for a little bit longer, meaning you can use it at slightly longer range. However at the distance most people use hand guns... well long range is hardly the point for a hand gun. As it stands I'd definitely recommend you keep the 9mm over your 10mm. But I also have a vast collection of furniture and add-ons to make your 10mm better. No matter what though the 10mm will pretty much always be a little heavier, plus kitting it out will be a little pricey. Probably somewhere between 200 to 500 caps depending on how crazy you want to go with it.", Terry explains.

When you ask about something to potentially replace the Vortex Crossfire though he just grins a little. "But of course. Allow me to present some competitive options.", he says, then goes around and starts grabbing some weapons, carrying them back and presenting them one by one.

"The first is the classic US military M4 combat rifle.", he starts, introducing a blacked out gun that had a few scratches but seemed pristine otherwise. "Chambered in 5.56mm it won't do as much damage as thew Vortex Crossfire or your Hunting rifle per shot. But what it lacks in stopping power it makes up for in capacity. With thirty rounds standard in the mag and the ability to go fully auto, you'll find that it'll be able to solve most problems very effectively, especially warms. Though it will still struggle against harder targets like deathclaws, super gators, sentry bots, etcetera.", he explains. "Probably one of the most moddable and lightweight platforms you'll find, with incredibly common ammunition. Comes with a foregrip, adjustable stock, 2x scope, and canting iron sights. 1000 Caps."

"The next weapon...", He then says, placing the M4 down and picking up another bigger meaner looking rifle, this one covered in a mostly intact but slightly chipped woodland camo pattern, "This is a FN Scar 17S Marksmen rifle. Though most just call it the Scar DMR since most aren't able to discern the slight differences between models. This was a civilian sold rifle back in the day, so it doesn't have fully automatic fire. It does have better punch firing 7.62mm though, and can interchange rounds to use the 308. as well. It has less capacity at 20 rounds, and is notably heavier. A nice middle ground weapon, it'll do as much damage as your hunting rifle, but won't quite have the same reach, but unless you're frequently having engagements at a 600 meters or more you probably won't notice that. Like the the M4 it is very moddable: it comes with a 2x scope that can tilt to let you use iron sights, and a fore grip. Also 1000 caps."

"And the third...", he says, then shows you a long lever action rifle, this one made of blacked out steel and carbon fiber with a long sight rail on the top. "This here is a Marlin Dark Series model 1903. It shoots the same 338. Winchester magnum rounds as the Vortex crossfire and has a slightly larger capacity at 6 rounds in it's tube magazine. It'll punch just as hard as the Vortex Crossfire within 500 meters, but the shorter barrel length will make the bullet a little slower after that. Same deal with accuracy. However, given that most things do like to get up close and personal with pretty things such as yourself, I wouldn't worry about extreme long range engagement distances. Close range will probably serve you better, and this will do that just fine. Price is 1100 caps. 1200 to 1300 if you'd like to put a nice sight on it."

As he puts that one down there he does add one last thing. "Now these are what I would consider competitive options while still allowing you to turn a nice profit. However I could offer you things like... an M249: Belt fed machine gun in 5.56mm with 200 round box mags. Fifty caliber rifles. Hell even a minigun! Though you don't strike me as the type that wants to lug around a 55 pound when fully loaded weapon. These kinds of options however... well with the Vortex Crossfire to trade, you won't be losing money by any means since you'd be upgunning by a lot, but you'll basically be spending everything I'm offering you, and maybe then some. Just something to consider."
