The creature seems more stunned that you're not already dead from the slapping paw and claw marks as you get back up and ready yourself. It really isn't ready when you toss a lightning bolt at the beast, and it lets out a rather intense yowl of pain seeming to have trouble shaking the muscle paralysis off.

As it deals with being stunned from the lightning, I charge in with a shield bash, in case it manages a counter attack then strikes at it with a right hook from the sword arm.

Wait, I remember the basis now! It's the weird tiger thing with tentacles from the first Hellboy movie.

It's hard to tell if it handles it better than you think, or it simply responds on instinct, but its face full of tentacles manages to latch onto your shield and whip to one side, so you only manage a thin gash along its face as you're tossed across the field.

With a massive snarl, the much heavier beast charges you, and you're nearly bowled over with the shear weight of the monster. Even so, you manage to tag it, and it is still bleeding... maybe you can bleed it out before it shatters every bone in your body? You knees and ankles are already severely complaining, even though they're firmly in 'super human' territory by now.

Right, but I'm trying to keep things mostly tame for the 'low level' area, so I'm using little more than mild physical mutations. I assume you don't want something covered in tumors and oozing infected puss and blood?

Pulling the stops out seems to help, the larger tentacles soon looking extra crispy, resulting in... a moderately sized tiger that takes a swipe at you, clawing some wounds into your thigh. The ice helps as well, but the two of you have both been slowed it seems.

Alright, that's a start. I can't let this guy charge me again and again, knocking me around like a ragdoll! This time I charge him, tucking my shoulder into my shield, hoping to stun him for a follow up strike.

Well, it seems like muscle is your strength as the beast doesn't expect you to charge or is too stunned to jump out of the way as you return the favor, slamming it against a sturdy tree, tearing a yowl from its mouth. You hear a loud scrape as it drags its exterior teeth along your shield, no doubt leaving very impressive gouges.

Good! I continue to push it against the tree, stabbing it with my blade arm before firing a bolt of lightning through it.

The creature continues to thrash against you, but your enhanced strength manages to push it as you need to, and you've got the thing pinned against a tree shortly, before your blade sinks into its belly deeply, and you fire another bolt of lightning into it. This time, instead of mild burns, the entire creature spasms at once, all of its muscles standing taught before it collapses and blood slowly oozes out. It doesn't seem to be playing possum either, as it doesn't do much as you tentatively withdraw the blade. Pulling out, a bit of exploration shows a small blade nick on its back, right along the spine. Considering its reaction, you must have gotten close enough that the lightning bolt went through its entire nervous system. Your body trembles, the adrenaline keeping you tightly wound and jumpy at each and every sound.

I focus on trying to control my breathing as my legs give out and I collapse on the ground. Holy fuck that was dangerous! What the hell was that?! I got to prepare some countermeasure against them if I face another. Holy shit! ... Fuck! Is there at least something useful I can use it for? The skin doesn't seem to be strong enough to use as armor, but is there something else?

Lootwise, investigating shows several things that might be useful. The meat is quite salty, so much so that you can smell it without tasting it, which might work to create a preserved ration. How it survives like that is anyones guess, but the monster is damned dangerous. Much of the back and outside of the legs has a thick leathery hide, which might be enough to make some pants out of, but its soft underbelly was nothing but delicate skin. The bones look pretty heavy, and the skull in particular is incredibly thick, like the creature will charge and headbutt as an opening move, which could also be useful. The tentacles are fried though, and might make good snacks if nothing else.

Well... I'll try to save the hide, and see if I can cure it somehow... It's something that stone age people did so it can't be that complicated right? Other then that, I'll keep the bones. Not sure what to do with them now, but I'm sure I'll figure something out. The rest is going to be food. I'll try smoking everything and see if that works.

Unlike the shell which now protects you, the skin and scaley hide fight you as you peel them off, and you wind up putting a few holes in it that will probably make it last less time. Still, it's got a generous helping of meat involved, but you can only wish you'd run across a bag of holding or whatever so you could store it in there. Man, all the other isekai's give their character one, this one sucks. Smoking the meat does seem to preserve it, at least it's drier and tougher to eat, but you'll only know for sure given time. It doesn't make you vomit instantly either, another nice plus.

Well, last time I tried to do a puzzle, you got frustrated and completely forgot the highlighted solution, so I'll probably leave it as combat oriented unless you want a physical/skill challenge?

Pushing directly at the dirt with your will has it resisting... but it slowly moves as you want. You can feel like you could push hard and show this dreamscape dirt who's boss, just like you could with the tree, or you could continue the slow way.

Just going to pile it up in a heap and see if I can start extending it out into a ring like shape. Probably won't be able to get much done today, but if it doesn't just undo itself, then I can probably get it done eventually. Could even use it as the base for a more proper wall, though at this point I kind of just want to make animals decide to go around my camp rather then through it, if at all possible.

Playing in the dirt, as your cat repeatedly informs you, is tiring, but somewhat rewarding as you look around at your early... palisade? You're... maybe an eighth of the way done, so that adds out to what, two more days of solid work at it if you wanted more than something the tentacle puma would have to work at instead of just hopping over.

"Do you got any better ideas on how to keep monsters from wandering in while I sleep?" I snap back at the cat, as I continue to work. It progressing relatively fast. Still, probably shouldn't spend the entire next two days working on this. Probably work on it for half of them, while continue exploring and gathering resources. If I finish it in four or so days, that's pretty good.
