With a flex of your will and strange 'muscles' that don't actually exist, you find a sharp, double sided blade extending from your wrist, ready to hack and chop. With your strength, you find huge chunks of the tree are tossed from the impact zone, and it takes but a few minutes to hear the loud *crack* as the trees remaining strength collapses.

This is going well for a change. Maybe I can get a lean-to setup somewhere hidden from the shoreline by nightfall. Wait does this place have night? Regardless I probably will need to sleep. I try to see how heavy the tree is for me to carry. If it isn't a burden, I'm going to take it with me as I look for a good location.

The trunk of the tree isn't that thick, and it seems to be one of the kind that's very tall with a puff of leaves at the top, vaguely reminiscent of a palm. It's too heavy for you to lift directly, but you can pick up one and walk it. Of course, you could also chop it a bit further, as it's several body lengths long. (Search:15) It doesn't take you long to find a relatively high location, a tuft of rock sticking up that might make a good other half of a lean to. It's close enough that you can still, technically, watch your boat, but far enough and in deep enough that your position isn't easily visible.

Probably shouldn't cut it up and force myself to make more then one trip, especially since I don't know where I'm going yet. I do find a place though, and set to cutting up the tree and any other I need for my shelter, using the leaves as bedding, and to stuff any gap.

The tree leaves are strange. They're sort of like palm leaves, but it's also sort of like a branch with a large leaf? It's like somebody jumbled up the basic components of a tree. Still, your nice sized tree would make a pretty good base for a lean too, something you quickly manage to assemble. Now that you have shelter, you're probably not at significant risk of dying of exposure, which means the next thing you should probably focus on is water.

With basic shelter out of the way, though I definitely want something more eventually... or to get my ship back, I turn to sustenance. I first check to see how much food and water, if any I brought with me from the boat, then begin surveying the nearby area for possible sources.

I mean I do want her have a fighting chance so I say leave everything up to rolls. See if she gets jumped while trying to find water would work for me. Then I guess once more to see if she gets raided at night though that probably should be a low chance, like 18+. Then once more for tomorrow. But she gets a chance to fight back if she is jumped. Perhaps it is harder depending on how bad/good the encounter roll is.

You have what amounts to protein bars on you, carefully wrapped small meals like rice balls or something very similar. They feel squishy, and the wrapping appears to be air tight, but you could tear one open to see what it's like. Most of what you've got is the stuff you had on you in your pack. Most of the trees are rather tall, and don't seem to have much in the way of fruits. (Luck:17) However, there's common berry bushes. The bushes don't seem regular, and the berries change from bush to bush, which just further cements how weird and almost random this world is. Some of them even seem to appear or disappear when you're not looking, but it could be your mind playing tricks on you. The cat doesn't seem bothered anyway. You also find a small... creek? A small flow of water condensing out of a cloud and flowing. No more than a trickle, like someone left a sink partway on.

Well, got the basics. Best to pick the berries now if they disappear when I'm not looking. And got some... water. Do I have anything to catch the water? Those leaves might work. If not I'll have to see if I can dig a puddle in this weird terrain.

You do have a canteen in your kit, as it's a general survival kit, but it's already full of water. You could drain it and fill up, or drink your fill from the stream first and save your water for later. Making a small bowl of leaves and sticks, the bowl feels a bit more solid after you've handled it.

Probably best to make sure the stream is clear, and save the canteen in case I need to find a new source. I drink some before setting up a bowl to capture more for later. After that I try the berries, having a little snack before I try to see how much more time I have before bed... and whether or not this place has night. With how strange it is, I can't take that for granted.

The water tastes pure and clean, and you don't detect anything. Your cat friend sniffs at the berries, seeming to not be interested, but not batting them away. Looking up at the sky, you notice that there's a central glowing disk at the center, and it appears to have dimmed slightly over the last few hours. The berries are fine, and you watch carefully, trying to gauge when the light will be too far gone to use. You've probably got a few hours.

Got food and water... Should be good until nutrition would become a problem, but that's an issue week or maybe months if I'm lucky. Got a few hours so best spent trying to conceal my 'house.' I want it to be that when I'm sleeping, if something wander through, they won't immediately spot me.

Pulling a few bushes seems to do most of the trick, and once you've moved the small bushes, they seem to stay put a bit more. It seems like once you've interacted with 'something' of this world, it starts being a bit more stable, perhaps that's why they send heroes out to deal with monsters? A hero killed monster stays dead, rather than suddenly being alive again? That would make sense.

The... tangibility I seem to bring would explain things to be sure, but that doesn't mean I can actually kill things. If things are like that fucking creature that took my boat, then I'm shit out of luck. Well, that's something to think about tomorrow. As it stands this has been far to much excitement for today. Time to sleep.

Sleeping is a good plan, and your sleep is almost totally dreamless, your mind seeming to be stuck in a loop cycle more than anything else. When you wake up, you find a warm weight on your chest, and you glance down to see your strange cat has left you a dead... rabbit/gopher thing. Well... you've got breakfast?

Feeling the odd warmth, I nearly jump out of home in panic, but when I realize what it is I take several breaths to calm down before turning to the cat, "Uh... thanks, but next time would you not leave it on me." Fucking thing took a year off my life. Well, I suppose I should get a fire and try to cook this thing then.

The cat sniffs at you. "Well, you're almost blind, so I didn't want you to miss it." Sassy cat is being sassy it seems. Still, it shouldn't be difficult to get a fire started. You could try with your new tools, or make one with your cool robot arm. Or shoot a fireball or something.

"Alright noted. Thank you retracted," I retort back, before checking the tools my arm came with, trying to remember if one of those was useful. If nothing else, I can try minimizing the power of a fire spell.

The cat seems annoyed, but quickly turns up his nose and flipping around before settling down for a nap, and you find yourself annoyed and desire to have a better understanding of it. Flipping through a few different options, you find what at first appears to be a file, but quick checking shows that it might be something more akin to rasp. Extremely roughened surface, but the intense bright rainbow colors indicates magnesium. It's right next to your metallic thumb as well. Could it be that simple?

"Oh shut up, I tried to be nice and you weren't. Why should I bother with respect if you aren't!" I snap at the pouting cat. Looking at the tools I have available I try to see if I can strike it with my thumb, as if I was snapping my fingers. Shouldn't hurt at least.
