It's been a rough couple years since what some referred to as the End Times, others called the Flash, and most simply call the most fucked up thing to happen to the planet occurred. You've been living as best you can in the wake of the destruction of the surface world. It hasn't been easy, and you may not have been entirely proud of everything you've done, but hey, you're in one piece, and that's more than what quite a few people could say. Even better, you've even managed to get into South Gate Station, one of the best places to live right now if the rumors are true. It's got running water, regular food supplies, and you've only got a small chance of getting knifed by some junkie for the shoes you're wearing or eaten alive by a psychic beetle from what you've heard. The trials to get in were hard as well, testing your physical abilities, your mental acumen, and every skill you've developed before and after the apocalypse, but you've made it, and now you're in the colony.
Of course, a colony like this doesn't run on dreams and friendship, you're expected to work for what you've got, and as you rest in your new quarters, with your own personal computer, desk, a small table and chair and a twin bed, the intercom linked to your room crackles to life.
"Hey, Tanimura. Likin' the new digs? The boss man's asking after you, wants to see if you're ready to stop by the office for your first job." comes a feminine, if somewhat low voice over the static of the intercom.
You recognized the voice, it was Katrin, the chick who helped you file your citizenship papers. If you remembered it right, she was more or less the right hand woman of Caleb, the guy who was more or less in charge of the station. He'd be on the fifth floor down by elevator, below your floor and the canteen. It looked like it was time to start earning your keep.
