Aeal blinks rapidly as she listens to Heraklia, clearly in shock at the knowledge that Zeus was missing and that Greece was under attack. 'Oh no, aunty! Thats terrible!' the naiad squeaks, bringing her delicate hands to her mouth as she processes the information. 'I don't know when Grandfather went missing, but Grandmother was very involved for a few years, directing Mother and my other direct aunties to protect the seas. The creatures of the oceans and rivers increasingly stopped heeding our will, but it only became really bad when the deep creatures arrived! Coming out of the bottom of the oceans, the deep creatures have a terrible ability to resurrect the dead in twisted fascimiles of their original form, and to change their form to women so that they can breed! What is worse, they bring with them a plague of madness that has corrupted my brothers and male cousins. Without the bulk of our fighters, my sisters and I have had to throw what remains of the sea and river creatures that obey us at the deep ones and the corrupted! Now we are in retreat from the great sea, left only in the waters near the temples to defend!'

Aeal collects herself as she recalls the terrors she and her sisters have been facing. 'Grandmother left for the surface a year or so ago, saying she would find our noble aunts and uncles on the surface for help. Yet we have not heard from her, and any time one of us comes up we are besetted by cruel twisted creatures that seek to rape and keep us as breeding stock! Four of my sisters are already captured, and I think many more of my cousins have been captures over the year as well!'

Her words are shocking, but they fill in some gaps. It seems that there are forces laying siege to Greece, and the war in the heavens is being replicated on the ground as well. With Zeus gone... Greece is especially weak.

Heraklia paled as she thought about the ramifications implied by Aeal's news, many Greeks relied on the sea for their livelihoods, whether that be for sustenance, travel or trade with the barbarians, but even more horrific was the idea of the seas being so thoroughly taken over by monsters, these "deep creatures", who could shapeshift, and Thetis' disappearance along with so many fallen naiads and sea spirits. It seemed that her first tasks were clear now, she'd have to find Thetis, and hope that her aunt could have some clues as to Poseidon's whereabouts, and by extension Zeus and Hades.

"Well, it seems like with things so dire, the first task will be to figure out what happened to Thetis. If we can find her, we might have more of a foothold in getting the seas under control and finding your grandfather and my... sire." the young demigoddess suggested. "Do you have any idea where she might've gone or if there was some sort of trail to follow her path, or where we can get help to find her?"

The young naiad blinks nervously as Heraklia asks where Thetis was. 'Oh.... I was hoping that you would know. My sisters and the others are protecting what remains of the waterways under Greek lands. If you don't know whats going on either, I think I'd like to follow you? I stopped coming out of the water after one of our.... cousins, I guess.... in Tiryn tried to rape me when I looked to him for information. Pity too, since that was where grandmother was last seen.'

Tiryn was to the south of Thebes, but out of the way from Halicarnassus. Making a detour there would take.... convincing.

'If you don't mind, I think I'd like to follow you. As long as you have a pouch of water, I can travel with you. Then I just need a larger body of water to manifest myself and help you in everything you need to do!'

Heraklia considered her options, getting to Tiryn would be difficult with her current trajectory, but she might be able to convince the captain. She had a feeling it might be difficult alone, however... though, now that she had some potential assistance...

"I'll see about getting a pouch for you, I'll need your assistance sooner than normal though if we're going to get to Tiryn." Heraklia murmured. "If I were to perhaps mention you to the captain, we could both convince him to take us to Tiryn on the promise of having one of Poseidon and Thetis' kin on his ship as a blessing, especially in these times. We shouldn't mention what we know of the gods, however. It would only bring us undue trouble." she noted.

"Is this a good agreement for you, Aeal?"

Aeal nods visibly in the water, the motion causing the pool to ripple vigorously and cause small waves to overflow the pool. 'Yay, I can go with my aunty! Or cousin... I'm not sure what the relation is, since Grandmother is Thetis and Mother is one of Poseidons daughters...oh, I'm so confused, I think I'll just call you my cousin...'

Hopefully Aeal was more useful as a source of information and as a fighter, because clearly Poseidons offspring weren't famous for their brains. Heraklia notes that Aeal is waiting in the pool, and that she would enter any pouch Heraklia gathers up.

Speaking of pouches, Heraklia sees Agilax coming towards her, his face a scowl of unhappiness. 'The priests say that Poseidons grace is fading, making it more difficult to find sailors willing to join us. Worshipping here with Poseidon will see our sails blessed with wind and the tides washing our way, but the monsters skulking near the shores will see us as ripe prizes to be seized. If I declare openly for Poseidon, the only sailors I'm likely to have join me would be the few veterans of the sea, when ironically what I need are more warm bodies to crew the ship. On the other hand, if I decline Poseidons favor, it'll be easy for more men to join us, but the waters are less likely to be with us.'

"Cousin will be fine, I'll be back shortly." Heraklia answered, nodding and giving the naiad a reassuring smile, she'd figure out a way to get things to work.

Speaking of work, there was Agilax, his expression troubled as he talked about the crux he was in as captain. Inwardly, Heraklia smiled, she might just be able to kill two birds with one stone if she worked this out right.

"It sounds like you're stuck between Scylla and Charybdis captain, but I may be able to solve both of your problems." she declared confidently, crossing her arms over her chest. "But first, do you have an empty pouch or waterskin? It's pertinent to our solution. I may be able to get us a very special crew member if you can supply one."

Agilax raises an eyebrow. 'A single waterskin? Sure. But how will you solve our problem? Either we lose the winds, or we lose the men. We may either fail to reach Halicarnassus, or die on the way there.'

"Well..." Heraklia paused, not wanting to reveal Aeal to everyone in the temple. "Meet me behind the temple if you can in a moment, I can promise you that it will be worth the while." she said with a confident nod, before thanking the captain and opening the waterskin. "I just need to pick her up and I'll meet you there."

With that, she quickly strode back to the pool, taking a moment to make sure nobody was watching, then she surreptitiously dipped the skin into the water, murmuring for Aeal to slip in while she had the chance!

Bright emerald green eyes twinkled in the water as Heraklia brought the waterskin close to the surface, and the smiling face of the naiad appeared briefly. 'Yay cousin, we'll go on an adventure together!' she squealed, before disappearing into the waterskin.

Shutting the waterskin tight, Heraklia left the temple, finding herself in a dingy alleyway at the back of the temple streets. As she saw Agilax climbing out the back and approaching, Heraklia noticed that the blind priestess of Hecate was also at one end, not really paying attention to Heraklia. An audience, though unseeing.... r was she?
