The Monastery (IC)

One can not mention St. Lily Monastery without talking about the titular Saint Lily. Born Lily Constantine, she was an early follower of the Church of the White Flame. She lived a life devoted to the teachings of Ki'ra and lived a chaste, humble life. But she became known for her missionary work, bringing the faith across the kingdom of Ravenborough during the First Wild God Suppression. When she was too old to travel, she opened an orphanage to raise the next generation of White Flame followers. One such child grew up to become a high ranking priest. When Lily died of old age, the Priest took care of the orphanage, and grew it into a Monastery. Hidden in the Hourglass Forest, the monastery had been protected from all manor of incursion.

Time: Day Phase 1

Paladin Origin (Priscilla, Sasha, Magz)

“AND HALT!” The Head Paladin yells as she brought your trope of paladins in training to a full stop. Emma Pearce had been a renowned warrior in her time known for her discipline and brutality. Her deeds in the Third Wild God Suppression campaign had earned her the title of Scarlet Inquisitor. Her brutality was on full display in her training.

At the break of dawn, all of you were awoken by a loud bell. Emma had you put on your Armor as fast as you could before having you sprint to the battleground. There you all stood at attention and recited the Paladin’s Code, all 50 Lines repeatedly for an hour. From there you did 200 Push-ups, 200 Jumping Jacks, 500 practice swings before finally doing laps around the Monastery. All of which were done in full armor.

Everyone was out of breath, a few girls even fell to the ground. As a canteen of water was passed around, Emma looked over the group with a vigilant stare. “Catch your breath and proceed to the dining hall for lunch. Once you’re finished we’ll proceed with Afternoon Exercises.”

Monk Origin (Iona)

“Breath in, Breath out” Lei said calmly as she lead her disciples through their morning exercises. The monks of St. Lily Monastery had gathered in the meditation garden. Here they grew flowers, vegetables and managed tended to the rock garden. It was Master Lei’s suggest. She wanted to create a place where one could reflect on one’s soul.

The master monk’s movements were fluid and calm, but one could feel the power behind stance. “Steady your body and and let you energy flow free.” She said as she walked through the garden observing her students. Every now and then she would tap one of her students. Some managed to stand tall while others crumbled to the ground.

It wasn’t long until she reached Iona. As Lei reached out to tap the young monk she hears the bells from the monastery tower. “That’s enough for today, replenish your bodies and take the day to practice.” Lei said before retiring to the dining hall

Scholar’s Origin (Harper)

The St Lily Library had an impressive collection of books, scrolls and tomes. Though many were in poor repair, or in a different language. Moreover, there were usually only one copy of these rare items. Heidi had asked of Harper and the other scholars to help her translate and copy a few select items. For her part, Harper was working on translating a book of fairy tales from Common Tongue to Beast tongue. This way they could be shared with new converts to the white Flame.

The Library was as peaceful as always, as light streamed in through the stain glass windows. Though the quiet allowed Harper to hear the whispers of other scholars.

“Did you see, Harper’s hiding from the sun again.” one girl whispers behind a book.

The other girl snickered as she tried to keep her voice down … and failing. “I saw her sneaking out at night, most likely to suck some poor sap’s blood”

They laughter was soon silenced by the presence of the Head Scholar, Heidi. Walking over to Harper, she checked on her progress. “W-well done, I think that will be enough for now. Why don’t you go get something to eat.” Heidi said as she avoided making eye contact. It’s hard to say if it’s out of malice or Heidi’s own weariness of people, but the air is filled with an awkward silence.

Priestess Origin (Meredith)

In the Church of the White Flame, singing is a fundamental part of worship. Priestesses are trained not just on scripture but the basics of voice projection, music theory and performance. Meredith herself had been trained to sing since she first became a priest. The maturity of her vocal was evident during morning worship. As the inhabitants of the Monastery gathered, Head Priestess Evaline Mcpetal lead the choir of priestesses as they performed hymns such as “O Pyre Everlasting” and “Ode to Ki’ra”.

Once morning worship was over and the younger priestesses were practicing their Hymns. Evaline pulled Meredith aside to chat.

“Your voice is as heavenly as always Sister Meredith. Ki’ra has truly blessed you with many gifts” Evaline said with a sincere smile. Though she was twelve years Meredith’s senior, the Head Priestess looked as young as ever. “You’ve grown into a wonderful servant of the Goddess, I can remember when you were just a wee child you would …”
Before she could finish her story, the bells from the monastery tower rang out. “Oh dear I have to get going” She said as she sprinted off down the hall. “Be sure to grab something to eat in the Dining Hall”

Dining Hall

The Dining Hall was as large and elaborate as you all remember. Long wooden tables with benches sat under crystal chandeliers. A pair of fireplaces sat on each side of the room. Colourful stain glass was used to cover all the windows, each denoting a saint or a story from the White Flame scripture.

At the head of the tables would sit the headmistresses of the Monastery, Evaline Mcpetal, Lei Xiulan, Emma Pearce, Heidi Wilkinson and Morgaine Goff. However, it seemed only Lei and Heidi were present at the moment. As the chef, a middle age woman with a portly figure and twin braids began distribute lunch, the room filled with chatter. It seemed Evaline, Emma and Morgaine were planning to leave the monastery on a mission of sorts. News like this always spread fast as helping them with a task was the fastest way to get beyond the confines of the monastery and see the wider world, if just for a moment.

Of course, one could also stay behind and help Lei or Heidi around the Monastery.

Harper worked on the translation in complete silence through the entire session, unlike many of her colleagues she didn't have any friends, and even if she did she was the quiet type that didn't say much of anything. Not that she really cared, she viewed her job itself as her one true 'friend' in a strange way, the same kind of way people can legitimately find inanimate objects as a living thing can sympathize with. She couldn't take comfort in other people so all of her good memories stemmed from writing, translating, drawing, and organizing. She was happiest doing her job, though, it helped she was damn good at it to. She was easily one of the best in the group of scholars, both in terms of speed and quality. Though she usually slowed herself down so she could revel in whatever it was she was doing for as long as possible. This turned out to hinder her social situation even more. It turns out, the one thing people hate more than a freak is a freak that can do their job better than them, why was she able to write faster than me? Why was she able to translate better than me? Why was the vampire able to do more for the monastery than me a devout, pure follower? This kind of thinking made people not only resent her more, but love the few that could do it even better than her more than usual. Because of all of this, she was more than used to the kind of talk from the girls behind her, and was able to promptly ignore them completely. They couldn't understand the pain of only being able to enjoy the outdoors at night, daytime is not only to bright for her, thanks to her sensitivity to light, but staying out for even a few minutes will give her really bad sunburns that could take weeks to heal. So, she enjoyed her time outside as much as possible at night. Always staying around the monastery grounds where the paladins and monks could keep a close eye on her. She really enjoyed going to the garden, where she could smell the flowers and see all sorts of vibrant colors.

When Heidi came along, she was already mostly done with the book. Harper didn't quite understand why, but people generally avoided eye contact with her, its most likely because her eyes are red and people find them disturbing. That would be the obvious answer, but it probably also has to do with the fact people think vampires can do stuff to people by making eye contact with them. Harper was long past caring though. She got up, bowed to Heidi and stated "Thank you." Her voice was actually much like her skills. For anyone else it would be a good thing, but for her, it just added even more resentment. Harper's voice was amazing, or so she heard. She once eavesdropped on a conversation that made it sound like her voice was befit of the best priestesses, for many though, her unnaturally nice sounding voice just solidified the vampiric theory, as vampires were supposed to be master seduces and have voices that sounded like an angel, or something along those lines.

She then silently made her way to the dining hall, sticking to the shadows as not to hurt her eyes and generally avoiding people, which was easy to do as people generally avoided her as well. When she made it to the dining hall she sat in one of the most isolated areas and waited for her food, once it came, she ate slowly, and thought about how she could reorganize the fairy tale section of the library to be less of an out of order mess.
I hurt you, I heal you, I hurt you again. That's the pattern.

Sasha coughed heavily, sputtering as her lungs burned. She remembered being trained by her father to be able to wield a sword but this was entirely different. Her muscles were pulsing as she laid on the ground in her half-plate. She takes a couple few gulps of water when the canteen was passed to her. The worst part was definitely standing up after catching her breath. The armor sagged on it's hardness and she was quick to unbuckle as much as possible dropping it on to the ground as she breathes a breath of freeing air, her D-cups heaving under her tabard as she slowly makes her way to the dining hall.

Once Sasha got herself some soup, wanting to avoid anything too heavy to avoid throwing it all back up during exercise, Sasha then moves to find Mistress Pearce wanting to hear about this mission that was possibly going to happen her heart racing with the idea of finally being able to leave the monastery every since she began her paladin training.

It had only been a short while since Priscilla sought refuge at the St. Lily Monastery and today she was starting to feel like she was acclimating to the harsh training that the Head Paladin put them through. She had chosen to train under Emma Pearce as a paladin because of the swordsmanship training she had received throughout the years, it was hard work but the praise she earned from her instructor made it worthwhile. Or so she had thought anyway, how sheltered her life had been up until now became readily apparent the first day she had been woken up at the crack of dawn and rushed out into the training yard. That had been difficult to adjust to, but the armor was even harder. The regimen would have been grueling enough on it's own, but to do so in full armor was almost too much.

When the call to stop finally came, Priscilla was grateful, as she hunched over and gasped for air. And even then, as her gaze fell on the girls collapsed on the ground, she recalled herself in the same position last week and knew that it was a sure sign of her progress. She took a quick gulp of water from the canteen when it was handed her way and then made her way to the nearest of her comrades who had fallen, offering it to her with a reassuring smile. She needed it more than Priscilla at this point, as the former noble knew all too well.

Having been dismissed for the time being, Priscilla made her way to the dining hall and took a seat. She was positively famished, but with so many mouths to feed it would be a bit before she finally got her meal, another thing about her new life that took some getting used to. She gave thanks to the chef when her turn came and muttered a quick blessing before eating. Her parents would be horrified to see their daughter now, forgetting all manners and ravenously devouring her food. It had only taken a few days for her appetite after a hard days training to trump a lifetime of learned manners, especially when she knew that there was more to come after this.

Though she had mostly kept to herself in her time here and had no one to converse with over lunch, the hall was full of chatter as always and the topic of the day was that some of the headmistresses would be leaving on a mission. Priscilla listened with mild interest, she had seen more of the outside world than many of the girls here, but only because she had grown up in the capital. She no longer held any delusions that her life had not been a sheltered one, seeing some more of the world and possibly seeing the Head Paladin in action first hand was an exciting prospect. Perhaps after her meal, she would seek out Emma in hopes of being able to go out on her first mission.

Magz panted heavily, but tried to keep her composure. As usual, she was determined to keep up her appearance, not only to impress the others, but also to impress her instructor. She even refrained from wiping her forehead, because she didn't want anyone to know how tired she was from the training. She stood stiff as a board, trying to look like she was brooding, until she was told to go to the dining area. She first made her way over to any of the Paladins that had been resting on the ground, to help them up, after which point she walked briskly to the dining hall, still trying to keep her breathing under control so that nobody could tell she had exerted herself so much.

Having heard about the mission, Magz chose to immediately grab her food, then go to find the three who had been tasked with it, resolving to search for the three to ask if they could use her assistance. A mission would be a great opportunity to hone her skills AND administer JUSTICE, as was the duty of a Paladin such as herself. Perhaps if she does exceptionally well, she would be praised by Emma, something that she has always dreamed of since the moment her training had first started. The details of the mission mattered little at the moment, only the fact that the mission was an option.

The wonderful hymns her and her fellow priestesses had been singing were practically engraved in the mind and soul of Meredith, as she'd been taught them since she was young. Her mother would sing 'O Pyre Everlasting' to her, every night before bed. Singing the song always brought memories of those simpler times to mind... and those reminded her of what she was at St. Lily's for to begin with. She felt her heart ache just a bit at the reminder, but Meredith squashed the feeling and continued to sing, reciting the hymn's lyrics perfectly. She'd calmed down after morning worship had ended and prepared to continue onto the next hymn, when Head Priestess Evaline had called her over.

Meredith approached the older woman with a smile and a word of greetings. "Oh, no, Head Priestess. You flatter me, but I'm really not that special..." Replied the humble Meredith, waving off the compliments with a sheepish look. The woman who was really blessed was her, after all. She was almost reaching middle age and yet still the woman looked young and beautiful. She hadn't changed a bit since the days when Meredith was young and attended her classes.

As the woman began to go off into a story, Meredith prepared herself for what would no doubt be an embarrassing tale from her past, when Evaline suddenly excused herself and ran off. Huh... perhaps she had something important to attend to.

Later, the priestess would take her former teacher's advice in going over to the dining hall for a meal. Hearing the word spreading about regarding the Headmistresses leaving on their own separate missions, Meredith would move to find Evaline and request to join the woman and her followers on the mission.

Sometimes Iona thinks she wouldn't mind staying in this shit hole if the entirety was like this: Surrounded by beautiful scenery, doing the things she wants to do rather than being forced to do things befitting of the image a monastery of the White Flame needs to uphold. Well, she supposes this is also something that upholds the image, but she couldn't give a damn about it since she enjoys feeling the flow of her body so much. Doesn't hurt that it's also a bunch of ladies sweating in their training clothes, which is always a pleasant image. And that's without mentioning their trainer! If they were so indoctrinated in their purity, she would happily fuck her way through the near entirety of the monks in this place. And the knights. And the scholars. And... well, pretty much anyone. It's been years since she's gotten any and her hand can only do so much. Especially when the lodging is communal so she has precious few times where she gets to relieve herself in the first place.

But those are thoughts for later. Letting her thoughts get clouded like that would surely draw Lady Lei's attention and not in the good way. Breathe in, breathe out. Center oneself and let your energy flow through you. The energy guides your fist, for it knows where to do the most damage and leaves your mind free to anticipate the next move. Let the energy defend you, it can take more punishment than your body can. Let the energy flow through and seep into all parts of you. Iona has always been full of energy and dedicated it to everything she did. While she did what her parents wanted her to do, that was a good thing. Once she started doing what she wanted to, however... but she's letting her thoughts pollute her energy again. She's just recentered herself when Lady Lei taps her. She allows the touch to flow through her, to let her energy take the hit and leave the body standing. It's a skill she's only recently gotten the hang of, but not being laid flat out is its own reward, she thinks. When Lady Lei dismisses them for lunch, she takes the chance gratefully. While it's nothing on the things she ate before her parents decided she was too wild, it's passable for a monastery, she guesses. While she's there, she hears the news of 3 of the headmistresses going out and freezes.

This is her chance! This is what she's been waiting for since she got here! All she needs to do is be allowed to go with them and get lost and she'd finally be free of this dump! But which one? Emma is too much of a hard ass to butter up so that's a no go and Evaline is no doubt no stranger to temptation and resisting it thanks all the looks and catcalls she must get every time she leaves the monastery with a body like hers. That leaves Morgaine as her best ticket out of here. Maybe the adventurer will understand her wanderlust? She won't know until she tries. Bolting down the rest of her meal, she stands up to find the woman. The sooner this is done with, the better.

Time: Day Phase 2

Sasha & Priscilla
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Once you’ve both had your fill, you all attempt to find Emma before she leaves. Eventually you see her preparing a pack to leave out. She seemed to be dressed in her finest armor. On her side was the holy sword Photon and the sacred shield with the White Flame’s emblem on it. She seemed to be prepared for a bit of a trek.

When you all approach Emma, she gives you the typical hard glare that you’re use to. But she also gives off a sense of relief. “Hmm, Perfect timing. I was thinking of bringing some of the trainees.” She said turning to the two trainees.

“I just received a letter from the Head of Basinburgh’s local militia. Many of his men have become sick and he’s requested my assistance with partols for a few days. While many of the people of Basinburgh have begun to lend their ear to the Black Ocean Heretics, the Head man of the militia is still a devout follower.” She said with a dutiful look. “We must remind the people the White Flame can still protect it's followers.”

Meredith
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Evaline was in the main church gathering scrolls. Beside her was a pack filled with supplies. She seemed to have a worried expression on her face. When Meredith approaches, she turns around with a bit of a jump. “Oh, you surprised me Meredith. I was just thinking about a request I received from a farming Village outside of Crystalcairn.” She said before handing you a letter

Dear Sister Evaline,

You may not remember me. My name is Donavin. I am a priest here in Tan Village. I remember listening to one of your sermons in the capital on the power of humility. In truth, the Whitemore Clergy can not assist me and I have no-one else to turn to. My congregation has been befallen by a terrible curse. Those afflicted are possessed by a ravenous spirit and they assaults all who come need. It is all we can do to contain these dark magics.

Please Sister, I require your aid if I’m to keep this small village afloat.

Sincerely,
Priest Donavin Sage

Once you were finished, Evaline took the letter back. “It has been a long time since I’ve taking part in an exorcism. And our order is in dire straits. However, we can’t turn a blind eye to those who are suffering” Evaline said as she finished packing. “If you could accompany me Meredith, it would of great help”

Iona
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Iona finds Morgaine giggling in the corner of the front foyer as she looked at a poster. Though the moment you get a little closer, she jumps up and hides the post. “I wasn’t doing Nothin’!” She says before realizing who it was who had snuck up on her. “Hey your the flight risk right. The one the other Heads are always on about” She said with a casual fashion.

Compared to the other four, Morgaine was the youngest of the Head Mistresses. She also had the fewest students. Though that had more to do Morgaine’s terrible luck and lax worship of the White Flame.

Stroking her chin, she looked around the corridor and then put her arm around Iona. “Hey, How’d you like to get out of here for a couple of days?” Morgaine asked as she handed you the poster she was looking at.

The image left much to be desired. It looked like a potato with a star shaped scar. But what was interesting was the section below it:

WANTED: BIG AXE ALEX | DEAD OR ALIVE| FOR THE CRIME OF GRAND ROBBERY, MURDER, RAPE AND KIDNAPPING | REWARD: 300 COINS

“I got a beat on where this guy is held up. It’s some back water village south of Fort Claymoor. Real shady place. I was gonna go on my own. But the extra back up would come in handy.” She said with a smirk. “I’ll cut you in on the reward.”

Harper
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

When the chef arrived, she hands Harper a bowl of soup. But before she could even take the first sip it was grabbed from the table by Lianna ( https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/2602505 ). “I didn’t know vampires drank soup” She said with a haughty voice. “There doesn’t seem to be any blood in it” Lianna says as she examines the bowl. You can hear some of the other girls snicker at the obvious bullying. Head Mistress Lei and Heidi had already left the dining hall, leaving the girls to their own devices.

Lianna Hopeton was considered one of the smartest scholars in the Monastery. But that was more to the fact that people didn’t want to acknowledge Harper’s talent. Even Though everyone know her skills were top rate … Even Lianna.

“ It seems normal enough” Lianna sighed “Here have it back.” She said as she dumped the contents of the bowl on the ground. “Enjoy your lunch” She said before returning to her group of friends.

With her meal ruined, Harper’s thoughts returned the Library’s Fairy Tale section. It’s one that note that you remember a special project Head Mistress Heidi had mentioned. She was planning on reorganizing the book collection entire west wing.

Magz (Read first three entries)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

After running all over the Monastery, Magz manages to find all Head Mistresses who were planning to head out. Evaline seemed the most enthusiastic to have more people traveling with her the the other two. Emma gave Magz a hard glare as if to determine if Magz was serious about this mission. Though neither of them compared to Morgaine. It took a several minutes to get her to even admit she was going on a mission, let alone the details of the bounty

All that was left for Magz was to choose which mission she would lend her aid to.

Sasha was more than happy to accompany Emma with this mission. Patrols seemed easy enough after all she used to watch the farm she lived on so patrolling was essentially that but more stuff to watch right? Bright-eyed Sasha gave Emma a salute. "Yes commander, i'll pack my thing immediately and join you as soon as possible!" She says with excitement in her voice before quickly hurrying off looking for her shield and longsword. This was to be her first real mission! Ah!!! she was practically vibrating with excitement all the people she was going to help and meet, its finally going to happen.

Harper said nothing to Lianna, she just stared at her, pretty much daring her to make eye contact. It was all she really could do while allowing Lianna to make herself feel better about the fact she wasn't quite as good as Harper at being a scholar, not to say she wasn't brilliant, she was. Yet as went back to her group Harper couldn't help but wonder if she'd eventually become a member of the black ocean with the way she handled situations. She was just always much to aggressive for her own good it seems. Would of probably made a good paladin. Looking at the soup on the floor she sighed, it wasn't the first time this happened, and it wouldn't be the last. There was no point in stirring the hornets nest though, so she simply got up, and walked out towards the library, intent on finding Heidi to see about that special project she remembered hearing about. If she was lucky Heidi might give her some food for her work. Even if she wasn't there, Harper had to do something so she'd start working on reorganizing out of place books either way. As she walked to the library she noticed a few paladin recruits talking with Emma a good ways away, she only looked for a second before hurrying off before she was noticed by them. The paladins were by far the ones that treated her the worst most of the time, and because of this Harper did her best to avoid them at all costs. Emma in particular though she tried to avoid, while they have never actually met, she's heard enough stories that she was convinced Emma might not think twice about cutting Harper down on the spot.

Priscilla's meal felt over far too soon, her own fault really due to her speed of eating, but that only meant she had a head start in seeking out the Head Paladin. Even so, she was not alone when she finally found Emma. Offering the others a slight nod and pleasant smile of acknowledgement, Priscilla then turned her attention to the commander, who looked straight out of the story books in her armor and her holy sword and shield. Though she had never seen the commander dressed like this, the hard stare Priscilla and the others received was all the same. She had found herself wilting under that gaze the first time she had encountered that, no one would have dared give her a look like that in the past after all, but now Priscilla found that she had gained enough confidence to simply stand at attention and return Emma's gaze with a resolute one of her own.

The mission the commander presented them with intrigued Priscilla, the objective of swaying peoples hearts away from the Black Ocean and restoring their trust in the church was in line with her own goals after all. "It would be my honor to accompany you on this mission." She replies simply, though that likely would have been her response regardless of the task presented. Priscilla would then wait for any further information or instructions from the Head Paladin, and if there were none she would follow the other recruits example and dismiss herself to go gather her belongings, not that she had many possessions left to gather.

After visiting each of the Head Mistresses, Magz considers her options. She could patrol aimlessly in a location she has never seen, a task devoid of any justice, or, less importantly any excitement. Her second option was to help others deal with a black magic curse, something more ominous and less defined. She considered working on that mission, however, came to the conclusion that she would be less useful there than when working on a mission dealing with something more concrete, such as a wanted villain. With all of this in mind, she returns to Morgaine "If you'll have me, madame, I shall do everything in my power to assist you in bringing this evildoer to Great JUSTICE. All of the crimes he has committed shall weigh down his soul, allowing out strikes to be more true, and our eyes to spot him far more easily!" she says, excitedly.

Meredith silently took the letter and began to read it, eyes scanning through the contents quickly. The job wasn't what she wanted, but was far from unexpected. An exorcism? Those could get very messy when the spirit is desperate and spiteful. Even worse was that it had no connections to the Black Ocean, which equaled to no vengeance on that front. Still... how could she resist a call for help? Especially when Evaline was asking her for her aid as well. She returned the letter with a smile and a nod. "Of course, Head Priestess. As you've said, we can't turn a blind eye to those in need. I'll do everything in my power to help. When do we leave?"

Time: Day Phase 3

Harper
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Despite her best efforts, the Head Paladin does notice you. Her face fills with contempt for a moment as she says something foul under her breath. Luckily you can’t hear her but it’s not hard to imagine.

When you arrive at the Library, Heidi directs you to a small section on the bottom floor. There were about a hundred books laying on a small blanket. Most of them were journals written by academics, priests, and nobles with too much time on their hands. There were a few collections of old myths and legend but most of the material was rather dry.

As you work, you look up to see Lianna sorting through a section of books as well. As opposed to her sneering glare from before, she seemed to be smiling. Her eyes filled with a sense of peace.

When she reaches to take another book, the bookcase spins knocking the blond haired scholar into a hidden passage. She lets out a yep but is soon gone. Looking around, it doesn’t appear as though anyone else noticed, only you.

Sasha & Priscilla
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Emma gave the two paladins the closest thing one could call a smile. “Very good, pack your things and we’ll leave immediately. We should make it to Basinburgh by nightfall”

That smile is quickly whipped away as the pale skinned Harper passes by. The master whispers under her breath "Vamperic Monster" She said as she waited for you to return with your equipment.

_______________________________________

Moving through the forest, it felt like a continuation of their training. Sasha & Priscilla had to march in step behind the Head Paladin for major parts of the journey. At times, the two trainees would have to repeat the Paladin’s Oath as they march.

Once on the main road, the group of paladins comes across a horse drawn cart with a grey-haired old man. “Oh! A group of White Flame Paladins! Now that’s a sight in these days.” He said as he brought his cart to a stop. “I’m a simple merchant on his way to Springwallow might I interest you girls in some items for your journey?”

Emma looked at the merchant’s wares and nodded. “Thank you kindly good sir. Girls! You may take one item. I’ll cover the costs”

Items:
Trinkets
Wood Rosary: A rough symbol of faith. +1 Charisma

Toy Horse: A small wooden horse made of wood: +1 Speed

Inventory
Apple: Red, Sweet and Delicious: +5 HP

Orange: Tart yet tasteful: +5 AP

Meredith
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Evaline gave a sigh of relief as Meredith agreed to join you on her journey. “Excellent! we’ll be leaving right away.” She said as she gathered her things. “Prepare for a bit of a trip, If we make good time, we should be able to get to Tan Village by night fall.”

Just before you leave, you hear someone calling for you “Miss Mcpetal wait!” Looking up, you both see a young yet capable looking paladin ( https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/3287206 ). Catching her breath, she gave Meredith and Evaline a salute “Angelica Tempest Reporting Ma’am. Master Emma asked that I accompany you on your travels. It’s dangerous out their”

Evaline looked to Meredith and then to Angelica with a confused look. But eventually her expression softened. “Thank you Angelica. In truth I’m not much of a fighter. I dislike Violence, But I understand the need for protection. We’d be happy to have you along”

___________________________

Having left the monastery grounds and gotten to the northern path leading to Crystalcairn. Unlike the road going through Basinburgh, this road was less traveled. Small flowers and weeds had taken root alongside the dirt path. Walking through the lush forest was peaceful as the birds chirped and the wind moved through the brush.

Though that peace was disrupted by a trio of men talking loudly without a care in the world. “Then I was like Bitch! You’d better get on your knees before I…” The man in the centre said as he paused and took notice of you. “Well lookie here boys, a couple of nuns have graced use with their presence.” He said giving a mocking bow to Evaline. Looking at all three of their necks, The three woman would notice Raven tattoos.” Believe it or not, I was brought up in the White Flame. Though I’ve heard the church was having a rough go of it. What say you come with use to our hideout. You and your girls will get a chance to rest.” He said while moving his hands to his weapon

Iona & Magz
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

With a wide grin, Morgaine wrapped her arms around the two trainees. “That’s what I like to hear girls! Let me get the rest of my things. If we leave now, we should reach that small village by night fall. For JUSTICE!” Morgaine said as she retreated to her quarters.

_______________________

The forest west of the monastery was rather thick. The one path through however was well kept by the army. The road lead directly to Fort Claymoor which also serves as a large town.

Three of you weren’t taking the main road though. Morgaine took you into the bush south of the main path. “This place is pretty hidden, you won’t find it on any map. It’s a hangout for various outlaws and rogues. So keep your wits about you.” She said as she pushed aside some overgrown ferns.

Walking through the forest, you hear a rustling in the forest. Raising a hand, Morgaine signals for you both to slow down. Looking past a rock into the clearing ahead. It looked like a two groups of Dire Wolfs were facing off against each other, about six in total. One group had red fur while the others were grey. The standoff could be about food or territory. But for the moment the wolves haven’t noticed you … yet

Sasha was practially glowing with excitement. Out on her first real mission and with Emma of all people. She was all smiles. Until she was hot and sweaty from all the marching. It felt like her body was being weighed down by leas ingots rather than armor and reciting the oath only made her voice hoarse. But coming across the trader she certainly felt better. Standing up straight she says “the roasary would be nice its of beautiful quality.” Sasha goes to grab it and examine it.

Harper jumped a little when she noticed Emma's gaze falling on her, but thankfully the paladins seemed to decide to stay where they were. Once she made it to the library, she sighed in relief and went to Heidi. Harper didn't even have to say anything for Heidi to know what she wanted, after all both of them both enjoyed working in the library over dealing with other people, it was the most peaceful time of the day. Harper took her time organizing the books and making sure everything was exactly where it should be. Harper had taken the bottom shelves and Heidi the top for maximum efficiency, and they both fell into a state of serenity. Harper did at least anyway. This is what she was good at. This is what she loved to do.

As she was getting another book to put on the shelves Harper noticed Lianna working on some shelves as well. When did she get here? Harper wondered to herself, while she wasn't exactly paying attention to her surroundings while working she usually noticed another person coming along due to how quiet it could get. She must of been even more engaged in her work then usual. Then Lianna disappeared behind the bookcase. Harper blinked a few times, staring at where Lianna just was, trying to process what she just saw. Was... was there a secret passage there? Harper set down the book and calmly walked over to where Heidi was. This was a situation that required communication unfortunately. "Uhm… Miss, Lianna just disappeared behind a bookcase over there." She pointed to the bookcase that Lianna disappeared behind. "Should we go get her?" Harper didn't think there was any matter of urgency, so she spoke calmly. Heidi most likely was aware of any secret passages in the library, so she would probably know what to do.
I hurt you, I heal you, I hurt you again. That's the pattern.

As Priscilla gathered her belongings and prepared to depart, there was something about her interaction with Emma that weighed on her mind. It was unusual enough in her experience for the Head Paladin to look so pleased, but the look of disgust that followed soon after was equally unusual and far more disturbing. And she could have sworn she heard Emma mutter something about a vampire, the girl who had passed was quite pale, but surely no such creature could truly live within the monastery. Eventually, Priscilla concludes that such a thing was illogical and perhaps she had simply imagined things that weren't truly there. The commander was stern, yes, but cruelty like that was hard to picture from such a decorated hero of the church. In the end, she simply put it from her mind and examined a map of the land she had brought with her from home, sighing with relief as she saw the short distance between the monastery and Basinburgh before storing the map in her bag and leaving to meet up with Emma again.

The pace that the commander set for Priscilla and her fellow trainee was as harsh as always, though Priscilla took a certain comfort in knowing that her training thus far had already begun to prepare her for actual missions. Her body had been shaped for this kind of march and she could, and likely did, say the Paladin's Oath in her sleep at this point. All the same, she was grateful for the rest when they stumbled upon the traveling merchant. Priscilla caught her breath as quietly possible whilst Emma and the old man conversed, a broad smile spreading across her face as the Head Paladin offered to buy each of them something. "You're too kind Commander. Thank you!" She exclaims with a slight bow of her head in gratitude, before turning to the merchant. "Good day to you sir." Priscilla greets the man while examining his wares. Her stomach immediately draws her attention to the succulent looking apple and her hand moves out to grab it on her own. She would have to refrain from eating it before resuming their march, but it would be a delicious snack for later. She was always famished after a hard day's work after all. "Thank you, and may Ki'ra bless you on your travels." Having made her selection, Priscilla gave the merchant her thanks and blessing before steeling herself mentally for the remainder of their journey.

Meredith nodded and made to go gather her things, not at all unaccustomed to the older woman's inclination to act quickly on a mission. The sooner they can arrive to help people, the better, as she was taught. Just as Meredith turned to leave, an armored feminine figure entered her field of vision. A paladin? "Your help would indeed be greatly appreciated, Miss Tempest." She greeted the paladin with a polite smile and a nod, then continued on to leave, of course after saying to Evaline that she'd be ready at the exit when she's gathered her items.

When they had met up and departed the Monastery grounds, Meredith found that the road to their destination was quite peaceful and calming... the naturalness of her surroundings reminded the woman of her time in the Oboro's forests... well, the nice parts of it, that is. But the peace wouldn't last long.

She sighed as they encountered the thug's rather crude conversation, preparing herself for an encounter with the same old bandits she'd encountered time and time again. Likely they were waiting on the roads for passing travelers. They'd pull out their weapons, demand the valuables of whatever merchant they stopped, and then they'd probably scare him off or sometimes kill him anyway. Of course the bandits would still be a threat to their group, so she pulled out her staff, though the woman intended to try for diplomacy first.

But that plan went out the window when she spied the tattoos on their necks. All three of them... and to hear that they were traitors of the White Flame? Now there's no chance for diplomacy. "Miss Tempest, Miss Evaline, I believe we must take disciplinary action against these lost souls." Yet despite her words, she stayed her hand, though the words of a prayer were on the tip of her tongue. Ultimately, it was Evaline's call if they should fight or not... but if the bandits tried to attack first, without a doubt, Meredith would shield their paladin with a Prayer of Protection.

Iona sees civilization and an almost dopey smile crosses her face. This is it! She's so close to freedom! And she has Morgaine to thank for it. Even though she's a known flight risk, the adventurer took her out anyway. She's not sure if Morgaine just doesn't care or if she thinks that she can be made loyal if she's given what she wants, but either way she's now one step away from leaving that stuffy place behind! The other woman, a Magz if she remembers right (and she thinks she does since she makes it a point to keep an eye on all the bangable ladies in the Monastery), might be a problem given what Iona wants to do could be seen as abandoning justice, but she's sure she can figure something out for that.

But that's later. First they have to deal with the dueling wolf packs in front of them. If they're busy fighting each other, then they aren't trying to eat her. Not being eaten is always a good thing in her book. Since they haven't been noticed yet, it's probably in her best interest to not make any sudden moves and hold her groove tight. With luck, they'll tear each other apart before they even think about looking around if she doesn't make any noise.

Magz narrowed her eyes and slid her blade forth from its scabbard, silently, and moved her lips as she recited a silent prayer. She had concluded that because nobody was in immediate danger, she would allow these beasts to wear each other down, then she would bring forth swift justice upon them if necessary. "Reckoning is at hand." she mumbled.

She then briefly brought her eyes across her party to see if they had other ideas. At the moment, they both seemed to be on the same page as her, which was good. "I believe that the most logical course of action is to strike down the beasts, if needed, when they have finished fighting. Any earlier, and we risk jeopardizing our mission to bring JUSTICE for all past and future victims of our target." she said, as silently as possible to her group.
