Chapter 1: Annihilation of Monsteropolis

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtUJeBURzOk

The world, ever since the first human was walking it, remembers only the evil roaming the surface. Horrifying creatures, wild and untamed, have forced humanoids to take shelter behind walls, which later became states on their own, the four of which are Calt, far in the snowy north, with its God, The Machine God, and its technologically obsessed cult, living under an empire which is a superpower in the world. Cielo, the main rival of Calt, known for their friendly and helpful people, Cielo is also a strong military and technological force, to such an extent that their city is a flying fortress, but they use their power to help others. Azraq, a city of perfection, where all of the inhabitants seem to be as happy as humanly possible in such a world, living under a benevolent king, and an honorable force of knights clad in shining sky blue armor. Fero, a mysterious city, shrouded in mystery, the population is paranoid, never open up to outsiders, people wonder what takes place within the walls of Fero, but nobody seems to know for sure.

In this world, people struggle just to get by, hide in fear of the creatures outside the walls, and search desperately for a way to make life better for themselves.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Anastasia Ursa

Anastasia left her house at roughly 9AM and began heading down the, always crowded, streets of Azraq. People waved at her as she passed, regardless of whether she knew them, or even knew OF them, or not. Such was life in Azraq, the people were absurdly friendly, for the most part, especially the guards. Everyone smiled all the time. You could say it was perfect.

She strolled by a little black-haired girl in a purple frock, with a table of expensive-looking wares. A feeling clawed at the back of her mind that the girl was somehow out of place with her morning routine, despite the fact that there little to no regulation regarding who entered and left Azraq.

Breaking into her thoughts, the little girl called out to Anastasia.
"Miss, you should check out my merchandise. It won't take long, and I guarantee you'll find something you want. You won't regret it!"
Her voice was very soft, and there was no urgency in it at all, yet it still caught her attention as she walked briskly past her. She couldn't help glancing over her shoulder at the girl, and though it was merely a glance, she still got a good look at her.
Image
She was beautiful. She had long black hair, beautiful blue eyes, and wore pink high-heels, black thigh-highs, a purple frock with indigo frills on the hem, and an indigo collar, with an orange tie. Anastasia immediately knew that she had never seen the girl before in her life. She briefly considered stopping by her shop, however, she didn't want to be late in meeting with her contact about her most recent bounty, he could be really flaky about, well, pretty much everything.

She quickly rounded the next corner, and stopped short, nearly slamming into the man she was on her way to meet.
Image
He had blond, spikey hair, and was wearing a dark green, striped suit, with a blue overcoat, a brown undershirt, and a black tie. He also wore a pair of rectangular glasses. He didn't even flinch as Anastasia stopped in front of him, he just stared up at her face, as she was much taller than him. He pulled a sheet of paper out of his overcoat and flicked his wrist to straighten it, while also clearing his throat. "On time as usual" he said flatly, before continuing, not even giving Anastasia a chance to respond "Right here, I have your next assignment, from a very high class client. It comes from a man living out in Monsteropolis, who usually prefers locals, however, someone suggested you to him over lunch. He's very particular about how things are done, so you'll need to be very careful to follow instructions to the letter. If you do this perfectly, he may spread your name to other potential clients." he finished, holding the sheet of paper out to her, while also ensuring she can read it.

The paper clearly stated that the target was a man who owed the employer a debt. The employer wanted the man "roughed up, not killed", then instructed you to tie him up with wire, specifically, before being dragged all the way to Monsteropolis for him. She had never been to Monsteropolis, but she did know where it was. It was actually quite a large city, heavily populated by merchants and rich people who originated from other cities. You supposed that the first step to figuring out where this guy was, is to speak with some of the locals.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Amun Khufu

Amun was wandering through the streets, as per usual, feeling the breeze from the massive city's flight through the air. One of the positives to living on a flying city was that it was never too hot, and there was always a breeze. Alternatively, inhabitants got to leave and explore the cities that it docks with to trade and just had to board before it left the aforementioned city again.

One downside to living on a flying city was that everything needed to be attached to something else, firmly, lest it fall over and/or roll around the city, he noted, as someone's trash can rolled through the streets, luckily without spilling anything.

The inhabitants of Cielo were also relatively nice to everyone, and the technology in Cielo was so advanced, it could compete with that of Calt.

An announcement through the intercom system that covered the entire city broke through his thoughts.

"Attention, citizens of Cielo, we will be docking with Fero sometime tonight, or early tomorrow."

Ah, Fero. A place where all of the inhabitants were incredibly paranoid, and stayed locked in their houses, and barely associated with anyone at all. The last time Cielo stopped there, they kicked an exiled teacher off the ship. Details weren't really released on what the man did, but to be exiled, he would have had to infringe on the rights of another Cielo citizen.

As he walked through the streets, he heard a metallic "clank" as he stepped on something. Looking down, he noticed it was an odd gem.
Image
It was oval shaped, and it glowed an odd yellow color, and seemed to have some sort of mist swimming inside. Looking down at the gem, Amun thought he may have heard a voice coming from inside, but couldn't be sure.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Annie Doyle

Annie was sitting in her office, at the front, on a very slow day. Typically the sorts of cases she got ended up being lost pets, or items. In the rare events that she got missing person reports, the person in question stupidly went outside the walls and got themselves killed. In Azraq, people were relatively safe. Murders occurred rarely, theft was just as rare, and the raiders weren't stupid enough to attack such a heavily guarded city, and the creatures, while fully capable, didn't seem interested in finding out what was on the inside of the wall. Beyond that, Azraq was far enough from the water to be relatively safe from being completely annihilated by what lurks within.

In hind sight, setting up her detective business in a quiet place like Azraq was probably not the best decision if she wanted action, however, did she want action?

Her thoughts are interrupted by a loud metallic clanking sound, signaling a knock at the door. Without waiting for an answer, the person slams the door open and struts into the office.
Image
She had white hair, despite looking very young, and was wearing welding goggles, striped stockings, several belts, brown shorts, matching her brown top, and had deep red eyes. Before Annie could say anything, the woman slammed her hands down on the table and leaned over it, before beginning to ramble.
"Ma'am, I haven't seen my husband! He said he was going to the local bar, just down the road, and hasn't come back! I went over to check on him, and he wasn't there. I've looked all over, and there's no sign of him! Please find my husband!"
She finished her ramblings, and stared at Annie, waiting for her reply.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Shayde Na'vash

Shayde crawled out through the window of the abandoned factory near the largest wall of Fero. As she exited, she cringed as she listened to the roaring ocean, a reasonable distance from the other side. All inhabitants of this world learned to fear the ocean at one point in their lives, there was no way around it. Especially the inhabitants of Fero.

She rolled off the tin roof and fell to the ground below, landing on her feet. She started to walk along the street towards the nearest bath house. She had made it about halfway there when she spotted some Fero guards on patrol, and quickly ducked behind a nearby garden bush.
Image
They wore black armor with gold details, and red loin cloths. Since they already knew she was a thief, she'd have to avoid the guards until she relocated. After the guards had gone, she quickly ducked into the bath house and looked around. The bath house was mostly empty, but it was also fairly early, and most people had their own bathrooms and access to water through them, anyway, so this was fairly normal.

As Shayde looked around the bath house, she couldn't help but notice a man far as the edge of the city, near the wall, which was in view from where she was standing. He was too far away for her to get a clear view of him, but even without being able to clearly see him, she could tell it was the same guy that had been standing there the day before.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Adrianna DeVos

"Why won't this thing work already?"

The engine to the vehicle coughed and sputtered, before making a loud clunking sound and stopping entirely. Adrianna had been working on the engine to this treaded Steam car for several days now, and it still wasn't working.

She needed something like this, fully functional, to get around outside the city in... relative... safety. She'd be too fast for raiders, and the tough metal exterior would, hopefully, protect her from any OTHER dangers.

She attempted to get the engine running again, cranking up the vehicle, however, this time all the engine did was clunk a few times, before stopping entirely.

She peered inside to check the engine again, and this time, she realized that a part WAS missing. She was missing the Coil Head.

Perhaps Adrianna should check the nearby shops and see if they have a part she needs, and if not, she may have to risk traveling to a nearby city on foot.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Lucia "Lulu" Ludwig von Cielo

Lulu woke up and stretched in her room, before getting ready and walking briskly down the steps. After eating her breakfast, she began checking her schedule. In the midst of checking her schedule, she heard an announcement from the intercom systems covering the city, announcing that Cielo will be docking with Fero sometime soon. This piqued her interest, to some degree, as despite being, supposedly, filled with paranoid people who locked themselves in their houses, the place was also very mysterious. She could quite possibly occupy her boredom by exploring the place.

however, in the midst of mulling this over in her head, she heard a commotion outside.

When she stepped outside, she saw a man leap clear from the floor, to the top of a nearby house, before bounding up onto another roof. The man was making great leaps, seemingly with no effort whatsoever.

Image
Lulu could barely see him, but what she could make out was that he was wearing an overcoat, blue smoke was pouring from his face, and he was wearing a top hat, and he had some odd sort of whip in his hand.

As she was watching after the man, however, a woman's mournful crying from nearby caught her attention.

She instinctively turned to her left, where she could see a man, flat on his back, his face a sickly blue, as if he suffocated. He wasn't moving at all, and a woman was crying over his body.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Chris "CeeCee" Culgan

CeeCee exited her shanty, a rundown shack on the edge of Calt. Not terribly cold to the point of freezing to death, but certainly not as close to the city-wide furnaces that the rest of the city enjoyed. The surrounding area barely had anyone living there, but not too far away, the upper class lived.

Calt was ruled by a dictator, but it wasn't a bad place. As long as you served the Machine God and did as you were told, it was a safe place. The dictator of Calt didn't allow their knights to push people around, despite aside from the Dictator, being the next highest authority in the city, basically being the judge, jury, and executioner.

As she concluded her thoughts regarding her current living situation, she came into general vicinity of a local store. The owner recognized her immediately and called to her from inside "CeeCee Cruiser, hello!" and waved at her. He was used to seeing her in his store.
Image
He had his guitar in his lap, and was wearing a tophat with a white undershirt, and a brown vest. He was a friendly guy, and she had never seen him angry.

CeeCee supposed she had enough money for some salted meat and a first aid kit. She would likely need them, since she also needed to hunt for not only food, but also for some merchandise to sell to her usual clients.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Azure Laclaire

Azure had just finished getting ready for her morning, in her underground house, and was just opening the door to enter her underground tunnels beneath the city. As soon as the door had opened fully, she was startled to see two Cielo guards standing on her porch.
Image
They both held strange emerald-bladed swords and were riding horses, also armored in green. Much like everything in Cielo, their armor was beautifully decorated in green. One of them spoke in a thunderous voice.
"Azure Laclaire, a Niphilim, and refugee from Fero. President Dan requests your presence as soon as possible." his voice boomed through the tunnel. One would wonder if he was the one speaking just because of how intimidating his voice sounded, and whether or not the other had the same kind of voice.

Adrianna groaned to herself as she looked inside the engine housing and noticed the missing part. How could she have been so foolish as to miss that part out? Looking around the room that she had taken on as her workshop, she desperately searched for the coil head that was the one thing left to get the motor running - she had to have one here, she though, but after several fruitless minutes, she gave up and stood there, arms crossed over her chest and a sour look on her face as she stared down into the non-functional engine housing.

"Why? Why will you not just work without it?" she asked the engine rhetorically, before sighing and straightening her clothing, and brushing it with her hands to make it as neat as possible. "I suppose it is too much to ask, isn't it."

Double-checking that she had her coin purse on her person, she opened the inner door and stepped out into the streets of her home, closing and locking it after herself. Machine God be willing, she would find that one piece she needed in a commercial district nearby, hopefully at not too of an exorbitant price, and be able to get back to her work. Her family won't like her just up and leaving them once she has her tracked car working, but they would have to accept her actions once she returned with technology that would revolutionise their world!

With sure strides and her head held high, Adrianna moved off towards the shops, keeping an eye out for any that appeared to have the part she required, and if luck was with her, a few extra parts as well. She knew that anything she built could not possibly fail her once finished, but as she was taught while a young girl, it pays to have replacements - especially for moving parts.

Seeing such a strange object had piqued his interest. It looked similar to topaz, but the color wasn't quite close enough for the similarity to be anything other than that. Amun crouched down to get closer to it, noticing what appeared to be movement in the strange small gem. He leaned in closer, his eyes narrowing as he did so, until he pulled back at what appeared to be the sound of a voice.

He looked around, wondering where such had came from. "Anyone there?" He asked out loud, yet only received a response of silence, and the sound of that trash can still rolling down the street (until it just collided into that wall). Maybe it came from the gem? He smirked, laughing silently at the absurd thought... either way, he was wasting valuable time. He reached down to pick up the gem and pocket it, figuring it would make as a nice souvenir of his adventures as he walked further down the street. Maybe he could give it to a pretty girl as a gift? Or maybe his sister? She probably wouldn't enjoy the present as much, but maybe she'd make a necklace out of it. The mystifying nature of the gem could be seen as alluring enough.

Annie sighs loudly, while she sits in her office, reading the morning newspaper. Her feet were resting on her desk, a cup of tea sitting on a coaster by her feet. It felt like it had been months since she had gotten a case that could challenge her detective skills. Maybe she would consider joining the Azraq Night Watch, though she knew that she severely lacked the physical strength required to make it in the force. Before she could mull this over further, there was a knock at the office door.

She folded her paper and threw it down on the desk, as if it had spontaneously combusted, and dropped her feet down in front of her, her boots making a loud thud as they hit the floor, beneath her desk. Before she could respond, or simply cry out in surprise, the door was slammed open, with a loud metal clank, and a woman rushed into the room, slamming her hands on the desk, just before Annie, making ripples in her cup of tea. She nods as she listens to the woman, her detective sense weaving a story from her words as she spoke, the trembling in her voice, and her attitude making it clear to Annie that she was under a lot of stress right now.

She began to reply, softly and calmly, “Ma’am I need you to calm down just a bit.” she offered her a cup of tea “I can tell you're under a lot of stress right now.” She pours her a cup of tea. “But I need you tell me a bit about your husband, the more I know about him, the quicker I can find him.” she takes a sip from her own cup, savoring the taste.

Anastasia smiled as she read the contract. So her status in getting contracts done in a timely and high quality manner was finally getting some attention. She quickly memorizes the details of the man she was supposed to 'rough up' and then looks down to her contact, her bright red eyes burning with the rage that fueled her body. "I always do things perfectly." She states cockily. It wasn't really a wrong statement but so far the bounties she fulfilled have been pretty easy. Regardless, she was more than confident in her abilities to do a simple rough up, and if this was something a bit more, then she itched to finally have a challenge. Rough ups, body guard duty, and extortion were all well and good but were rather boring, as there was only one occasion where someone even bothered trying to fight her. She brushed her long 'hair' back and thought for a moment, thinking about her game plan for this contract. Fairly simple, find more about this guy, find out where he is, then beat him up, collect her reward.

Anastasia makes a face and then leans back, looking around the corner she was at and at the little girl at the stall, giving her another quick glance before straightening out and turning her attention back to her contact. That girl sure looks like she knew something. Not only about her possible bounty but even about more. She didn't know why but for some reason she felt like talking to this girl was a good idea. Once she was done here she would go and talk to her. "If that is all then I'll get going." Waiting a few moments to see if he says anything else, if not, off to the little girl she goes.
I hurt you, I heal you, I hurt you again. That's the pattern.

Today had been a relatively slow day for Lucia, as she had taken about a half hour to get herself out of her warm sheets and onto the carpeted floor of her room. The morning air touched her cold, naked skin and she mildly shivered before beginning her morning routine of stretching. After all, once her adventuring began, it would be of great importance to be limber and flexible for any possible challenge headed her way. Once she had worked up the lightest of sheens of sweat, she grabbed a towel out of her dresser and wiped herself down before going to get dressed. As of late, she had started wearing the padded clothing that was gifted from her older siblings to her, not only because it was fashionable, but also very comfortable and strong. On her hips was a belt with a pair of holsters, with her custom steam pistols which were a gift from her parents. She was blessed, and she'd do her best to make them all proud of her.

Unlocking her bedroom door, she elegantly walked down the stairs of her family estate and popped into the dining room. No one from her family was in there. Figures, since she was late to wake up. Taking a slice of toasted bread with an egg laid on top of it, she took a slow, measured bite out of it before mulling over what she had to do today before she could head down to the slums. She had made a few friends down there, and she'd love to help out a bit more before her eventual departure. A scream snapped her out of the minor stupor she had put herself into.

Rushing out the door and down the paved path to the gated wall of her family estate, she saw a figure leap. Clearly male, he managed to leap at least a story before once again launching himself up onto another roof and out of sight. To make a leap like that, there's no way that could be a human. Or at least, a normal one. Memorizing what she had seen, her attention was immediately drawn over to the sound of wailing. There was a circle of curious observers beginning to surround the fallen man and crying woman. There was a lump in her throat and her stomach churned with the thought, and so Lucia opened up the gate and ran over, struggling her way through the crowd. Once there, she went up to the wailing woman and began to question her about what had happened, as she tried to see the condition of the man.

"Good morning, William." Said Cee Cee amidst a yawn. The walk from her hovel to the store was not long, and the air was still bitterly stiff. She stretched out slowly and fluffed her tail a bit, enjoying the bit of warmth that the shop offered.

"Don't you think it's a bit early for such uh ... intense music?" She asked gesturing towards the guitar. She produced a few coins from a small pouch that hung from her waist as she neared the counter in William's shop. She leaned deeply over the corner, far too deeply in fact, as she let the coins roll across the counter towards William.
"Snacks and sutures, darling. Maybe a touch of coffee if you've got it." She continued as she pointed out a bit of rations and some medical supplies, giving a pleasant smirk as she spoke.
"First hunt of the week; sets the pace for the days to come. You had any special requests lately, anything a little hard to come by?" She asked, still leaning heavily on the counter, throwing William a sly wink.

As soon as her supplies were in order she would tuck them away in a little travel pack. "I'm off to see the usual customers before I hit the tundra. Catch you later." She said spinning back towards the door, she lingered by the counter for a few moments, should William have some request or invitation.

Once exiting the shop she did exactly as she said she would. Some of her clients were kind enough to send her mail requests, but most of her dealings were still with the butlers or servants of the upper class. Hunting was a lot easier when she knew what to track down before leaving the city. Cee Cee would still manage regardless, but a chance to indulge in the warmth of the inner city wouldn't be a grace she would turn down.

Shayde let out a sigh as the Fero guards walked past, she hadn't even been here that long and already she'd been identified as a thief by the black armorclad Fero guards. It hadn't been her fault, really, she was in the middle of an all too familiar pickpocketing routine, sliding the gold pocketwatch out of the aristocrats breast pocket when that damn street urchin had came out of nowhere, barrelling into both her and her mark sending them, and more importantly the watch, flying. She had made a mad scrabble to grab it and leave before the sap had realized it was gone but unfortunealey she couldn't hide it quick enough before the man saw the glint of his gold slipping beneath the fabric of her corset. She didn't have too much trouble escaping him but the damage was done, Shayde was well aware the man had went straight to the guard to inform them of the cat-burgler in their midst.

Dammit.
She cursed internally as she brushed the dust off her cloths and ducked inside, eager to get the previous days dirt scrubbed from her body. Living in an abandoned factory wasn't exactly the cleanest after all. It was quiet though, that was good, it meant that she had less people to worrying about seeing her face and potentially recognizing her from the incident, but even so she knew she had to be quick. It was just as she was about to slip into one of the bathrooms Shayde noticed the solitary man standing by one of the city walls, isn't that.. she thought to herself, instantly recognized him as the same man from before despite being quite a distance away. She wasn't sure what it was, but something about him almost seemed..important, as if he was waiting for something, for someone, to make the first move. She definietly intended to find out who he was, but he could wait. Shayde was a dirty kitty and she hated being that way.

Finally slipping into the room and locking the door, Shayde immediatley began stripping off her dusty cloths and left them hanging up close to the bath before slowly and delicatley slipping into the warm embrace of the water. There really is no feeling like it~ she hummed to herself in her head as she started washing herself thouroughly, using a nearby sponge to scrub off the mornings dust and dirt from her body before simply taking a few minutes to just relax, letting the divine feeling of warmth seep into her body as she idly began wondering which city or town she was going to move to next... but even more so, who was the curious man...and did he have anything valuable she could relieve him off..?

After spending some more time soaking, Shayde eventually, much to her own protest, got out of the bath, dried and got redressed before making her way outside and glancing around to see if the mysterious man was still around.

Adrianna Devos

The square she had entered was one of the bigger squares in Calt, and as such, shops dotted the place, people were coming and going, she saw some public furnaces used by rich and poor as alike, Calt was using these furnaces to keep everyone on the street from freezing t death, especially the homeless, this wasn't a sign of kindness, Calt wasn't known for that, this is more a case of not wanting to deal with the dead homeless people that would otherwise litter the streets. In the middle of the square was a statue of a tall and gallant knight, covered head to toe in heavy armor, said to have slain a monster that had terrorized Calt many years ago. As she stood there, she looked around, and noticed the houses were elegant, decorated and bright, gray, white and wooden colors shown the houses of the merchants. the chimneys were steaming all day, every day. Nearby, one shop stood out, "MacAllister's Top Parts" in golden letters.

Next to MacAllister's shop, there was another shop, "Auto Parts and the Kitchen Sink", it was, by look, another shop suited for mechanics and other mechanical things, but the shop was different, neutrally colored, almost even cold. Little conformity and more on display of items. Over on the other side, next to the hair salon, "Curl Up and Dye", to the left of the fishing store, "Master Bait and Tackle", there was another shop simply named "Engineer's Heaven", the shop was an emporium of tools and items, brilliant colors shown, the owner has a good taste in design and the psychological power of colors. Not far from it was another shop, called "Billy Bob Jim Bob's Engineering Shop", the humble shop was small and crowded with all sorts of things, the uncolored walls and floor shown this shop either is new or the owner is pretty lazy on design.

The street was exceptionally boring, neutrally colored houses gave as much pleasure looking at them as watching the paint dry. The narrow street wasn't telling much, it wasn't clean but wasn't too dirty either, it was obvious people around here had not so much time for decorations, such is the life in the worker's quarter.

As Amun walked further down the street, out of the corner of his eye, he could see a figure darting along the rooftops in the distance. It was too fast, and too far away to get a good look at him. Just as the figure darted out of sight, a sound like the wind seemed to blow through Amun's mind, just above a whisper, however, it seemed to have no meaning. After several more moments, it happened a second, then a third time, the third directly after the second. The sounds, each time, came with a sensation like a brief chill up his spine.

starwacher Wrote:Annie sighs loudly, while she sits in her office, reading the morning newspaper.

Annie Doyle

Veins popped out of the woman's forehead, and her temper seemed to flare for a brief moment, but then she quickly calmed down, and took a deep breath, before answering "He drinks at the same bar every week, once a week, he likes long walks, he has no friends. What else do you need to know?" she asked, angrily, clenching and unclenching one hand on the desk, and drumming her fingers with the other.

The woman picked up the cup of tea and chugged it while still leaning on Annie's desk, then slammed the empty cup back down on the desk with a loud thud, with such force that the desk shook, knocking over Annie's cup of tea in the process, causing it to spill all over the desk.

Littlemankitten Wrote:Anastasia smiled as she read the contract.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Anastasia Ursa

Her contact, whose name she had just remembered was "Mike Roe Soft", waited patiently for Anastasia's gaze to return to him, and then reminded her "You have to bring him back to the client. Remember that." before turning on his heel and strolling away, briskly. "Just board Cielo with him when it docks to trade, then get off at Monsteropolis." he called back as he left.

After Mike had left, Anastasia briskly strolled over to the girl's table. The girl had been oiling the joints on a small contraption, designed to look like a monkey with symbols, built with shafts all over it and a pipe in the top of its back.

All across her table were objects Anastasia didn't recognize, and presumably others wouldn't recognize the objects, either. Among the objects was a set of seven smooth stones with different carvings across their tops, each also painted a different color. She also had a jar beside those, filled with glowing purple liquid. On the opposite side of the table was a yellow, oval-shaped gem, resembling a topaz, and beside that was a a cubic object with intricate black and gold markings in various shapes and patters on every side. The most interesting side is the top where there is a bright yellow circle with 4 black spikes on the 4 outer most edges of the circle directed towards its center. This is surrounded by similar black and gold markings, and the cube looked quite heavy. The last object was a glowing blue shard of a crystal-like object. Settling her gaze on the shard, Anastasia could feel a flicker of recognition, however, not enough to understand why.

The little girl patiently waited for Anastasia to finish looking over the objects, then looked into her eyes and smiled before softly stating "Welcome, miss! I'm glad to see you back at my table. I have a very wide selection of items, including charms, however... I believe you're after something else." she said, her smile changing from happy to sly. Looking into her eyes, Anastasia felt as if she didn't just know something, but knew a lot of things. The longer she looked, the deeper her eyes felt, seeming to stretch on to eternity, almost causing her to forget all of the people passing behind her.

Nobudi Wrote:Today had been a relatively slow day for Lucia, as she had taken about a half hour to get herself out of her warm sheets and onto the carpeted floor of her room.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Lucia Ludwig von Cielo

The woman replied that a creature had knocked on their door, and once her husband, the man lying on the ground dead, had opened the door, the creature that had jumped away a bit ago took of its mask and breathed blue smoke into the man's face, and he had immediately dropped dead on the spot.

LuLu could see, as she examined the man, his face was a pale blue as if he had suffocated, and pale veins were raised all over his face and neck. Upon closer inspection, Lucia recognized that the dead man before her was actually one of her Butlers, off for the day. The entity that had escaped a few moments earlier had apparently killed one of her family's butlers. It's a possibility that it may not have been a random murder, but a targeted murder... maybe.

Looking around, she sees the tall Pristine houses, white and gold was the dominant color of the rich people's houses in the area, the ornate houses were crowned with roofs of royal blue tiles. Some of them had chimneys, which where topped with golden covers. The road was made out of vintage stone bricks, of a forgotten era, before the rich made this part of theirs, despite their age, the bricks were clean and intact. She could see the murderer's reflection in some windows as it fled moments before.

lilbooth Wrote:"Good morning, William." Said Cee Cee amidst a yawn.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Chris "CeeCee" Culgan

Willy greeted CeeCee with a smile and a cheerful "Good morning" as he plucked at his guitar a little, not actually playing a song yet, just warming up. He answered her question happily; "I don't think there's ever a wrong time to play some guitar, you should try it sometime, I think you'd learn quickly. " he answered, before continuing to warm up on his guitar.

When CeeCee leaned on his counter, he couldn't help glancing at her breasts, feeling himself growing hard already, and hoping it wasn't visible over his desk, but it was, because his stool was so high off the ground. He quickly grabbed a first aid kit and a pack full of MREs for CeeCee's trip, then poored her a cup of coffee, he often just let her have the drink for free, as she was well-liked in the area. "Not particularly, I made sure I stocked up on the hard to find things the last time Cielo came through. As far as the pelt industry, well, you have little to worry about, you're one of the very few people insane enough to leave the city walls." he said, with a chuckle.

As CeeCee lingered near the counter, the bulge in Willy's pants became more visible and he was starting to look nervous. He leaned over and whispered to her "You know... you can pay for your rations with... a blowjob instead... it'll save you some cash." he said, hesitantly, hiding his eyes with his brim, as he set his guitar down by his counter.

cryosabre Wrote:Shayde let out a sigh as the Fero guards walked past, she hadn't even been here that long and already she'd been identified as a thief by the black armorclad Fero guards.

There really is no feeling like it~ she hummed to herself in her head as she started washing herself thouroughly, using a nearby sponge to scrub off the mornings dust and dirt from her body before simply taking a few minutes to just relax, letting the divine feeling of warmth seep into her body as she idly began wondering which city or town she was going to move to next... but even more so, who was the curious man...and did he have anything valuable she could relieve him of..?

After spending some more time soaking, Shayde eventually, much to her own protest, got out of the bath, dried and got redressed before making her way outside and glancing around to see if the mysterious man was still around.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Shayde Na'Vash

Shayde left the bath house and could see from the doorway that the man was, indeed, still standing there, however, this time, he was speaking with two other creatures... or people, it was hard to tell which from such a great distance. Whatever they were, they had their faces covered, and were wearing top hats, they were very tall, and were holding canes, though didn't seem to need them. After several moments, they took great leaps onto a building, then split up, leaping onto even taller buildings, and out of sight.

The street was narrow and claustrophobic, dark and depressing, looking around she saw more than usual protection on houses, bars, big thick metal doors, but she also could see what happens if you underestimate the local criminals, broken windows, empty houses, the street itself wasn't clean either, the dirty road was tainted with vomit probably some drunktard left behind, dried up blood and other bodily fluids alongside with trashes, the dark alleys were hiding all sorts of things, in the distance sometimes screams could be heard, and cold wind was bringing all sorts of stinks and smells, lethargy and sorrow marked the poor part of Fero.

The strange man then turned back towards the wall, and continued looking up into the sky, continuing to wait. He didn't seem bothered by how long he had been waiting, and had a large pack on his back, which Shayde had not been able to see earlier, but could see clearly now. Considering which part of Fero they were in, it was actually more odd than she realized that this was where he was choosing to stand around.

Amun barely gave the passing scenery a glance; noting it as the usual for the poorer areas of Cielo. Or rather, the working middle-class, but Amun hadn't much to say about them other than they weren't as wealthy as he's accustomed to. It'd only get more and more unsightly as he proceeds, no doubt he'd end up in the dirtier places, where some miscreant would attempt to mug him for his valuables. Amun's aware he looks like an easy score — what with the valuable jewelry he's wearing and his robes — but a smarter criminal would know that he's a Khufu, and his father had made sure no Khufu would be an easy target. He could take on a thug or two, he's sure.

Still, he'd rather not get into any kind of trouble, so he turned around and made his way back, only stopping when he caught a glimpse of an odd sight. A... person, he thinks, was hopping across on the rooftops. "What in the..." In his surprise, he had voiced his thoughts of the situation. He had a suspicious feeling about this person... but it wasn't his problem. The mysterious roof-jumper had escaped his sight, and with that, Amun decided to proceed on with his walk. The moment he had turned his head, however, an odd... sound, had passed through his mind. He was puzzled by it, but wasn't alarmed. It was probably nothing.

That thought had left him the moment it happened a second time, accompanied with a faint chilling sensation rolling down his spine. And a third, and a fourth, each more intense than the last. Amun shook his head violently, reaching up to his head to massage his temples in an attempt to calm whatever was causing this. Though, still, he had remained calm, if a bit irritated from the distraction.

Anastasia gave everything a detailed look as she inspected the table. Everything looked so foreign, so strange. Most of all was the crystal, which seemed to call to her. Has she seen that crystal before? She felt like she had, but she couldn't remember a time when she ever saw something quite like it. She picked it up and inspected it closer, trying to think of when she could of possibly of seen something like this. It felt so new yet so familiar at the same time. She turned her eyes to the girl. She stared into her eyes for a little while, almost getting lost into them before she finally looked away, blinking rapidly. There was certainly more to this little charade then what met the eye.

Anastasia cleared her throat, looking back to the girl. "Yea I suppose you're right... What can you tell me about this crystal thing here?" She set the crystal down in front of the girl, crossing her arms, her eyes having become a dim maroon color. This girl was obviously not normal, there was something about her that screamed danger to her, yet she couldn't help but feel calm and in control of the situation. "Also, you seem to have gotten your way around. And I have a feeling you eavesdropped on my little conversation. Regardless, can you tell me something about who I'm looking for?" She went on to describe her target to the girl, she's bound to know something, or at the very least someone who knows something.

"William, I am astonished you would be so brash, and with a lady no less." Said Cee Cee in a hoity-toity accent as she shook her hips back and forth slightly, her tail wagging furiously. "What you are suggesting would be entirely inappropriate." She continued as she climbed onto the counter and lifted the brim of William's hat with her nose. "Though an entrepreneur and businesswomen like myself would be foolish to turn down such a generous offer..." She said as she climbed down onto Willaim's side of the counter and pulled his erect member free of his pants. The height of the stool was actually in Cee Cee's favor. Even kneeling, her tall stature left her head level far from the floor. She delicately pulled her top aside to give William better access to her supple breast as she began to stroke his cock. She glanced up at him tenderly and had a few sips of her coffee before she really got down to business. "I uh... usually try to have a light breakfast before I go for a hunt, but today it seems it will be quite substantial." She said between quick kisses that she planted on the tip of William's prick. Cee Cee really hadn't factored a friendly blowjob into the morning's schedule so without as much as a word she picked up the pace, big time. She shot her face forward into William's crotch and swallowed as much of his cock as she could manage. She cradled and fondled his balls with her free hand and kept her pace enthusiastic, to say the least. Her other free hand crept down her own body, squeezing and kneading her breasts before reaching her own privates. Cee Cee found William quite attractive, and his impressive prick was making her rather excited. "Sorry to hurry you along like this William... Perhaps after the hunt... or later this week... we could arrange for something more intimate?" She offered between bobs up and down. Whenever she had managed to finish off Willaim she would gather her supplies and hit the road, fixing her attire and downing the rest of her coffee on her way out.

Lucia took the words of the woman in stride as she got closer to the scene of the murder... and froze. The color in her face immediately drained, because she recognized him. He was a servant of the family, Jonathan if she could remember his name correctly. She didn't know him personally, as she had a personal maid that attended to her wants and needs, but for most of her life, she could remember quite a few encounters with him. His eyes were still wide open with shock, and with shaking fingers, she closed his glassy eyes and murmured a word of prayer for his death.

"Get to my family estate and let them know what has transpired. I'll be in pursuit to not loose whoever... or whatever's done this," she murmured to the woman with grim determination as she drew one of her steam pistols and took off in the direction of the fleeing entity in hot pursuit.

"Well, a description of what your husband looks like would probably help." Annie said evenly, ignoring the shake of the table as her lended mug was slammed against it.

She paused for a few more moments, casting an eye over her tea-sodden newspaper and huffing at the prospect of having to buy another one just to find out the rest of the news, before continuing onward with the discussion, keeping a watchful eye on the woman's youthful features, looking for any telltale sign of deceit, "Also, are you aware of anybody who may have had any sort of... grievance against your husband? Someone who might want him to disappear?"

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Adrianna Devos

Shivering a little, Adrianna stepped a little closer towards one of the furnaces as she looked around at the various shops that could suit her needs. After all, no sense in being cold if free heat was right there, she reasoned to herself. Her eyes moved from one store to the next, taking in the details of the signs that tried to tempt passers by into the emporiums. McAllister's seemed to be almost... normal, which was not what she was after. It was probable that they would have just the common supplies in there, and Engineer's Heaven was trying far too hard to impress. The other two on the street - Auto Parts and Billy Bob's - could potentially have the part she needed tucked away somewhere and, by the look of the exterior, the latter one would be cheaper but probably of lower quality.

Her mind made up, Adrianne stepped out across the street and pushed open the door to Auto Parts and the Kitchen Sink, stepping inside the shop and giving herself a couple of minutes to browse for the shelves for what she needed, and what might be useful. Eventually, however, she stepped op to the store clerk and gave a curt nod. "Good day. I'm looking for a coil head, suitable for a small engine, and wondered if you might have one in stock?" she enquired.
One way, or another, I'm going to find you, I'll get you, I'll get you!

Amun Khufu

After the chilling sensations had passed, Amun began to feel a strange sort of magnetic pull straight ahead, down the middle of the street, past the line of houses, along with the faint whisper drawing him in the direction of the pull.

The place he was led toward wasn't very bright, dark narrow alleys separated the ominous houses, but he didn't pay attention, something continued willing him to trespass such menacing streets. There were rumors of people mysteriously vanishing in this very area, but he was still going, the pulling force became ever stronger, and simultaneously darker, and creepier, it was like the house were bending forward looking down at him, like he entered a dark realm of some eldritch horror, the wind's screams sent shivers down his spine, as it sounded like death screams. He happened to realize, despite the situation, or possibly because of it, that the figure had gone this way as well.

In the midst of this confusion caused by an unknown force, Amun suddenly found himself sitting at a marble table. The surface was so clean, he could clearly see his reflection in it. Sitting across the table from him was an old man, he had bushy eyebrows, and a grey beard, with grey hair, standing straight up and spiky on top of his head, and he was dressed in a bright yellow and white robe. Amun recognized this robe as one that the priests of Nour wore, this particular one had a high collar, making this old man a high priest in this city. He looked intently in Amun's eyes, seemingly waiting patiently.

After several moments, a little girl came over to the table and set a mug in front of Amun, with a bright smile.

Her blond hair was in pigtails, she had beautiful blue eyes, and she was wearing a blue and white dress.

The old man thanked her when she set the mug down, and said to Amun "Please, have some tea." with a gentle smile, before continuing "Welcome to Cielo's Church of Nour. I couldn't help but notice you wandering these dangerous streets in a strange sort of daze, so I had Adelynn guide you over here. You look young, as well, you wouldn't happen to attend the nearby school, would you?" He asked, motioning towards a school just down the street. No doubt attended by the poor, due to the location, and its sad shape. He continued "Shame what happened there recently, but what can you do? Some people just aren't right in the head. I feel like exile wasn't severe enough punishment, but I'm just a priest. Oh, pardon my rudeness, my name is Sidrick, High Priest Sidrick, and you are?" he finished, giving his name among his ramblings. Amun had heard of Sidrick, but the man was hardly of note, Cielo actually had three churches, the one High Priest between them just seemed to frequent the one in the worst part of the city.

Littlemankitten Wrote:Anastasia gave everything a detailed look as she inspected the table.

Anastasia Ursa

The girl's eyes lit up when she heard Anastasia's questions, prompting the thought that yes, she knew the answers.

"Well," the girl started "That crystal there, is merely a single shard of a whole Spectross Soul Stone. The original owner likely decided to release the soul within because they felt as though they were holding the soul captive. On the off chance that you assemble all shards to this Soul Stone, the soul will be reclaimed, and you could find out who it is. The soul could be mundane, or maybe you'd get an elder, or some other wise individual." she explained. She leaned back in her seat and started twirling a strand of hair around her index finger.

At the suggestion that she was eavesdropping, she merely smiled and looked into Anastasia's eyes knowingly, before answering "The man you're looking for is Ralph Kipling, he's a poor man with nothing but debt to his name, has a drinking problem, a wife, and no kids. He's completely bald, has a long grey beard, and disappeared yesterday. However, I know exactly where he was off to, if you'd like me to take you there, madame." she says, confidently.

lilbooth Wrote:"William, I am astonished you would be so brash, and with a lady no less." Said Cee Cee in a hoity-toity accent as she shook her hips back and forth slightly, her tail wagging furiously.

William climaxed rather quickly, bucking his hips and letting loose a loud moan as as he released a huge load into CeeCee's throat. Afterwards, he accepted her invitation to 'something more intimate' another time. As she left, he waved cheerfully, as he fixed his clothes, no doubt happy nobody had walked in during their little session.

CeeCee left the store and proceeded onward to the outskirts of the city, the large, looming walls only a tiny glimmer of hope against what awaits outside. As per usual, she spoke with the guards and let them know she was heading outside the walls. The guards wrote down her name, just like every other time, in case it needed to be among those handed to the nearby mortician at nightfall, so that he would be prepared to put her name on a tombstone the next day, if she hasn't returned. Near the gate was a large building, beside which was a massive graveyard, filled with tombstones, most of which were marked "MISSING" beneath the names. All cities had what they referred to as a "Body-less Graveyard" dedicated to those who walked outside the gates and never returned.

The guard then opened a very small gate, just barely large enough to crawl through. Once she entered, he quickly closed the gate back. The hole she had entered was a long, dark passageway, lit only by a faint glow on the walls from the runes built into the stone, supposedly for warding off demons. After crawling along the hole for what seemed like a a century, as the walls were very thick, she reached a thick steel door. She quickly unbolted all 66 locks, and crawled outside, letting the door shut behind her.

Outside, the wind blew with great force, whirling the snow around her, causing it to pelt her like small pebbles. The great wall behind her had massive indentations and cracks on the surface, from creatures, great and small, attempting to force their way in, in vain. Before her, in the snowstorm, was a great forest of trees, all several stories tall, coated with black bark and snow, with a blue glow showing through the cracks, each branch was also tipped with blue leaves. One thing Calt was known for, aside from the coldest weather, was the largest known Blackwood forest.

As she was admiring the scenery, the snow-covered ground beneath her began to rumble, causing her to stumble around, having to catch herself against the wall. Suddenly, at medium range, a monster burst from beneath the snow, towering over CeeCee.

Image

It was mostly covered in ice, and what wasn't covered, was a pale blue color, no doubt from living in cold temperatures for so long. The creature's half-covered face was absolutely hideous, and it had a giant sharp icicle attached to its arm. It roared at her as it towered over her, holding itself up with both legs and one arm, instead of all fours, its icicle at the ready.

Nobudi Wrote:Lucia took the words of the woman in stride as she got closer to the scene of the murder...

Lucia Ludwig Von Cielo

Despite the head start, Lucia managed to at least get into sight range of the entity she was pursuing, it was making quick progress across the rooftops, and LuLu had to use every ounce of speed she had just to keep up with him. Up ahead, she thought she saw the thing look back, and that would make sense, because he sped up even further and turned around, now bouncing backwards, and pulled out of his jacket pocket a Steam Pistol, and began firing from extremely long range. The shots were pretty wild, so while LuLu felt the shots whizz past her, none of them were connecting, so he must not be aiming, or he must be outside his weapon's range.

Running down through the middle class district, the houses weren't so colorful and bright as in the rich district, but it was certainly a better sight than the poor district. Loud popping sounds, and cracks in the stone walkway marked the bullet's impact points, as well as a vase breaking in half when the creature fired, a woman screamed and people were running or hiding from the beast as it was shooting almost randomly. LuLu put all of her energy into her sprint to avoid slowing down, pushing people aside and jumping over a stand as she was making her way, keeping the thing in sight, as it continued leaping off of the brown colored tiles at an inhuman pace.

Being able to leap from rooftop to rooftop heavily implied that the thing knew the area very well, or had some sort of extra sensory allowing it to see behind itself.

The woman's temper flared again, and she angrily replied "His name is Ralph Kipling, he's bald with a long grey beard. I don't know, but I fear something may have happened to him. You have to hurry! It's odd, though, because he has no enemies that I know of." she almost shouted. The woman's hands tensed up and she squeezed the desk with them until her knuckles turned white.

The woman then stood and waited for Annie's response, it seemed as though she didn't have any more information to give.

Eventually, however, she stepped up to the store clerk and gave a curt nod. "Good day. I'm looking for a coil head, suitable for a small engine, and wondered if you might have one in stock?" she inquired.

Adrianna browsed the store and saw that the shelves did not have what she was looking for.

As she stepped up to the front, a tall muscular man greeted her with a nod. He had a flattop and was built like an ox. He then replied "Welcome to my shop, is there anything I can help you find here, little lady?" he asked, surprisingly soft-spoken.

The store was dimly lit, but even in this lighting you could see all the wares, the shelves were packed with all sort of things, tools here, pipes there, cogs and bolts between them. The shopkeeper was standing behind a sturdy desk, it was made out of some sort of oak wood, on the table was some parts from a fine device, a book titled Customer's book, for the costumers to write in, a sheet of paper with some scribblings, a list of needed parts and/or materials, and a shiny, iron colored call bell, behind him more shelves with price tags slightly more expensive than the ones accessible to everyone, and on the floor carton boxes full of all sorts of things.

He continued as Adrianna looked around the store, "And here at Auto Parts and the Kitchen Sink, if we don't have what you're looking for, you can order the part to pick up later." he added, nodding as if proud of himself.

Re: Carnival of Rust

Postby mrblah » Sun Nov 05, 2017 9:44 pm

It took a moment for his brain to restart, and he immediately looked around frantically to observe his situation, confusion and alarm evident in his body language. Where was he? What happened? How did he get here? Other such questions had been asked, but these were the most prominent in his confused mind. He had no answers. He couldn't think of any explanation as to what happened. It was as if he were in some kind of daze, his mind felt a little... foggy. Amun forced himself to calm down and consider things. He was on a walk. He saw someone jumping roofs. And... that's where his recollection was cloudy. No doubt whatever caused his odd situation must have confused him enough to mess with his short-term memory. Or long-term. It's hard to say if much time has passed since he was in his previous location.

And that was another odd piece to the puzzle. He wasn't where his last memory suggests he should be. Instead of outside on the street, he found himself sitting at a table. Inside what looked to maybe be a church. Of course, Amun wasn't exactly religious so he wasn't certain, but the decor had given him a few hints. That, and the old man sitting across from him. It was surprising that he was only just noticing this person's presence, but he figured it was due to the fact that he seemed so fitting to the environment. The old man wore the robes of a priest — specifically a HIGH priest — wearing colors that somehow both contrasted with his surroundings and made him only seem more apart of the scenery. It didn't help that he sat as still as he did, only furthering any speculation that he was your stereotypical old priest. A small part of Amun was amused by the fact that the old man's eyebrows didn't completely cover his eyes, for some reason.

The rest of him was still very suspicious of the person before him, but hadn't made any moves to proceed or attempts to break the silence. The old man seemed like he was waiting for something, but his gaze gave off a feeling that he was also looking for something... this only made Amun feel more suspicious and guarded around him. He stared back at the old man blankly.

... His curiosity was beginning to eat at him, but before he could succumb, he was surprised when a young girl had came up to their table, dragging his attention away from the oldest in the room to no doubt the youngest. He was amused by her appearance, but nonetheless perplexed. She looked like the poster child of a noble's perfect and cute daughter. So, quite contrasting with the environment around her. What was she doing there?

His confusion and mental mutterings were interrupted by a simple cup of tea. He looked down at it in suspicion, glancing back at the old man at the sudden sound of his voice, and back to the tea. He almost considered it was poisoned, but he doubted such a young and cute girl could have it in her to poison anyone. Besides, he was rather thirsty. He picked the cup up, and took a practiced and refined sip from it as if it were second nature. Which it was, as that's expected of a noble, especially a Khufu.

His attention was moved back to the old man, and he was pleasantly surprised to receive an explanation to a good few of his questions. Though, he hadn't been sold on them yet. The man could be lying, after all. He almost scoffed at the thought of attending a school in what he now figured to be in the same, poorer parts of Cielo he was in previously, but he had refrained, allowing the man to continue with his ramblings. When he got back to interesting matters, Amun managed to answer another one of the questions in his head; that being the identity of the man before him.

Sidrick. He recognized him, but he couldn't quite match face to name, since he had never seen him before. High Priest Sidrick was one of those people that Amun knew of due to their stature, and simply that much. In Amun's view, it's more accurate to say he's a High Priest named Sidrick, than Sidrick, who is a High Priest. Regardless, he admittedly relaxed a bit, now able to answer a few of his questions. "Amun Khufu," he started with a pleasant smile, "and no, I don't attend such a school. Do I really appear that young?"

Ah, that's why she felt as if she knew what that crystal was. Anastasia has seen quite a few before, each time forgetting what they were. At first she decided she was just gonna set it down and not have it be her problem. However releasing someone from their soul prison could very well be beneficial in the long run. A debt to be paid. She held it in her hand and contemplated it for a bit, before finally clenching it in a fist. "I think I will keep this." Anastasia stated, whether or not it costs something was up to the girl, regardless it was clear she made up her mind on the matter already. Upon hearing some new information about her target she gave a sadistic smile and nodded. "Yes, I would like that."

Her eyes displayed a very slight flicker of excitement. She didn't think it would be quite this easy. In fact, it probably wasn't. This girl just seemed to be at the right place at the right time, and was rather keen on helping a stranger beat someone up. So either this girl had a bone to pick with the target, or there was something else she didn't know. Not only that she supposedly knew exactly where this person disappeared to. She would have to keep an eye on this girl, but for now, she seemed to be a valuable asset in her little quest.
I hurt you, I heal you, I hurt you again. That's the pattern.

Taking out the pistol was a bad idea. Too bad that Lucia only realized that as her right arm began to burn from the unnecessary weight of her gun as she sprinted down the roads. She fumbled for a moment to holster the gun... just as a round whizzed past her. With a rather undignified shriek, she shielded her head. Only a second had passed until her training had kicked in and she began to sprint in a serpentine pattern with no rhyme or reason to when she would redirect her movements. That was the best way to avoid being directly hit from a head on assault. Despite that, she could still feel the bullets whiz around her.

Either this thing had poor aim, the weapon was of poor make, or as ludicrous as it would sound, there still was the possibility that the thing could not or would not hurt her directly for some unknown reason or another. She immediately pushed that rather sinister sounding idea out of her head as she saw that the road lead into the Middling District as it was taught to her by her tutors. Seeing as she could barely keep the thing in view, it must either know the area, or had some sort of perception beyond anything she could have heard of. Her heart sank rapidly as she saw the Market Street coming into view. "SHOOTER! TAKE COVER!" she roared at the crowd, not stopping or slowing for a moment, before a fresh round of gunfire had the entire street in an uproar. Luckily, most of the people were immediately evacuated to the sides and below any safe cover, leaving the street empty enough for her to continue her chase. She leapt and slid past her obstacles. Parkour, the technique was called, and it was a favorite amongst those who did less than honorable things as a profession.

All the while chasing, she began to try and figure out what that thing was. Its shape was humanoid enough to immediately label it as human, but no human could perform feats like this. However, that only applied to normal humans. While her family was deeply invested into the research on the city's engines, they also has small branches working among other projects. Steam prosthetics, for one. She didn't know how well they were doing, as she was not privy to anything the family did in detail, but the knowledge could come in handy in a pinch. It couldn't be a Nephilim, as they were too well respected and famous to be doing this kind if activities. Spectross were out as well. The figure was too small even for a short spectross build. She crossed that out. Which left either Modified Human, Beast Person or... She bit her lip as she contemplated for the moment when bullets weren't flying at her. It could be a Cursed. Human shaped, abnormally agile and emitted a toxic gas.

Whether or not the idea was true, she continued in hot pursuit. But the sweat running down her forehead and rawness of her aching throat were limiting factors. This thing had to stop soon, or else she would lose it. She grit her teeth and continued charging down the road.

"She nodded, waiting for the lady to calm down a bit before she took a sip from her tea. "Okay, ma'am. That's all I need to know from you. For now, I'll try to see if I can find Mr. Kipling." She placed her cup down and stood up from her position at her desk, "I'll let you know if I find him." She said, before she walked over to her coat hanger, grabbing her overcoat. "I'll contact you again in a week or so, if I can think of anything else that will help. Feel free to stop by my office whenever." She gave the woman a polite smile, and made her way out of the office.

Now outside, she headed over to the closest bar, where she'd take a seat and order something light to drink. As time passes, she'll ask around to see if anyone's seen or heard of Ralph Kipling."
