If you guys need a proofreader/editor, I'd love to help in that capacity. I'm really excited about this project and I want to do something to contribute since I'm too broke to do so monetarily (American college student, you know the drill).

Hi guys,

No proper demo as you know already, but this is a tech demo we published so you could give us feedback on the game systems:

https://mega.nz/#!48VEjRTA!kbG4ycbxIUU80Vj6ycoO0IrWCgQTsGWT_J1vQ5MxvCg

Drop a line with your thoughts about things that could be improved. And remember this is only a technical demo. No content yet.

Thank you!

I'll send you a message asap. Thank you. ;)

Yup, this is only a tech demo preview, so you guys can tell me if some horrible bugs need to be addressed at this very early stage.

A proper demo / first version will be launched in some weeks from now, if all goes according to plan.

Ah HA! I found something! If you go, let's say, east, then immediately as the screen transition is over, you right click what now is the path to west before Krystal is in the screen, then go back west, Krystal will moonwalk back to the first screen.

I vote for keeping it as a neat easter egg.

EDIT: It seems that going to another screen, immediately inspecting anything, then going back will trigger the glitch.

Lol, I thought I finally had cured the 'M. Jackson syndrome' from my toons. :P

It's really weird because I have one bg process watching in which direction the character is going every goddamned frame, and flipping the toon as needed. But I'll need to take another approach, it seems.

Unfortunately I still can't get the tech demo to work in Wine (I use Ubuntu because because I'm one of those people who enjoys pointless suffering), I'll try and see if it's a problem with Unity itself and if there's a fix.

I've been there and I managed to get out before my soul was utterly ripped to pieces... You can also be saved! Ask me how!

In the meantime...:

EDITED: I just realized I checked the "run as program" box in "Properties" on the wrong version, and it worked like a dream. The game looks absolutely amazing, with a minor tic that the text you have to click on to advance dialog and to select dialog options are at the top and bottom of the screen, and would work slightly better if they were stacked or the dialog boxes overlaid the options symbol. Also, maybe have an option to cancel dialog when you first select it? Much later in development, when you have quests and whatnot, it may be useful to back out of an important story-advancing convo if you realize you forgot to do some other side-thing three screens to the west, unless the game is structured so that's never a thing of course.

Seriously though, staggering. We would have eaten up a demo release with a handful of scenes if everything were of the quality shown in the tech demo. I know I would have. Can't wait for the 20th, and pretty please keep supporting for Linux.

EDIT2: Volume controls do nothing on this version, don't know if they haven't been fully implemented yet or if a bug.

I'm not sure what you mean with this. Could I get a screenshot of what you're seeing?

This is how it is supposed to look (with a 16:9 aspect ratio)...:

Ah yes, you're right of course. And I thought I had that covered already by pressing Esc, but it seems that the options menu shows up instead, even in a messed up form. So I hereby declare this as a bug to be squashed. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. :P

Totemist Wrote:Seriously though, staggering. We would have eaten up a demo release with a handful of scenes if everything were of the quality shown in the tech demo.

Mmm, thanks! ;) Problem with that is... what you guys are seeing right now is fully rewritten from scratch.

"And why is that the case?", you could be asking yourself... Well, I'm the one "coding" since one week ago (double quotes because I'm not a professional coder). I use a plethora of plugins and use my aesthetic and common sense to mash up something pleasing to the eye and ears and also playable.

We judged the previous demo to be lacking on those goals. And internal shit happened. I won't go into further details but one sure thing is that I'm the one to blame for being two persons now in the team instead of three. So you guys will need to bear with the goodness and badness of my decisions. Sorry for being so cryptic on this matter.

What happens the 20th? :?

Linux support... well, as you can see some problems are already present in this version, and I highly suspect they're due to me using plugins. When I tried to compile MAC, Android and HTML5 versions, Unity thrown some errors and said it wasn't possible. The Linux version is the only alternative one at this moment and it seems it's not exactly working as the Windows one, which is troubling and I'm afraid I won't be able to provide proper support because I'm pretty busy right with...:

  • Animation
  • Coding
  • Design
  • Writing
  • Music & Sound

Don't get me wrong, I'm not venting on you my hellish schedule. I love doing this, but I'm also a realistic person and I cannot promise you anything more than pressing the "compile for Linux" button and cross my fingers. Hope you understand. ;)

You know what...? I can't reproduce the issue on my side.

But I believe you. I've lost the number of times I've seen that happening in the other game I was developing before this one. And the player controller is basically the same with some tweaks.

So I'll try to come up with another approach even if I can't properly test it on my side.

Maybe you just hands out the older version without that bg patch code.

And so, The Three Musketeers became Two...

Shame, since it's most likely going to slow down the development, but I'm sure you did what's best for the team and the game.

I wish I could help you with the game in any way. Sadly, the only thing I can do that has anything to do with game development is alpha testing, and I know absolutely jack shit about any of the things you listed, so I suppose I'll just have to sit back and hope that you guys won't burn out with all the work

Eh, more like "late June". Well, if this is doing it again from scratch this is definitely a sign that doing that was the right thing to do, because it looks great. The dialog thing was me misunderstanding the system: The dialog from the ship (in italics) appears at the top of the screen while the player dialog wheel is at the bottom, but I realized belatedly that I don't actually have to drag my cursor all the way to the top of the screen like a slave laboring on a pyramid, just click anywhere on the screen to advance dialog. The game did freeze for about a minute when I tried to hit Quit while Krystal hadn't quite stopped walking, but that resolved itself and I quit the game normally. Your decision to focus on having a solid, well-built core game and engine to hang smut on is an excellent one, and I applaud it. Sorry to hear about your programmer though, I'd offer to help but I'm a rank noob at even smashing plugins together. I'm going to have to delete the demo because seeing Krystals walk and talk animations without being able to guide her onto a succession of tribal dinosaur cocks is driving me insane. Let me know if you need a writer/story idea volunteer, since if I remember right Programmer was the words guy, although the current dialog from the game and recent screenshots is better than fine. I the meantime all that I ask is that you keep hitting compile and maybe sacrifice the occasional goat.

Also, maybe much later consider putting together a short in-browser demo that can be uploaded to Newgrounds/Wet Pussy games/ripped off by funnygames.biz and its million clones to help spread the good word.

Well, you probably won't believe it, but the main reason I made this happen was precisely to speed up development. I'm leaving my regular job in one month, and that is something I'm doing without even having enough in the Patreon to make a living. In other words: I'm not getting burned out. I won't have that luxury. This game will be made, no matter what.

Oooooh! Now I see what is happening. You clicked so friggingly fast...

OK, I've fixed it. I don't know if we'll publish another tech demo, but that won't happen again... at least in that context.

Thank you so much for showing me the light!

Totemist Wrote:The dialog thing was me misunderstanding the system: The dialog from the ship (in italics) appears at the top of the screen while the player dialog wheel is at the bottom

Yup. I opted for that location because there will be conversations during sex scenes. Therefore, the only safe area for not committing the terrible crime of hiding Krys' boobs was... up there.

We may take on your offer as it seems you have a way with words. :D

In fact, we'll be happy to receive as many ideas as we can. However, I wanted to wait until the intro/demo is finished to avoid spoiling the fun even before it starts.

Thank you all for your input. ;)

Looking forward to where this goes! Let me know if you need another coder looking at this. I'm fresh out of college and looking for work...might as well do something to get better at coding. Even if it wont show up on my CV! XD
