The lizard was hissing at her again. Why did they not learn the languages of the lesser races? It makes it so much easier to tell them what to do, Melaine thought as she circled the large beast. Something about it seemed to suggest it was... playing with her, but it was not something she could dwell on. The smaller lizard had scrawled the word "Run" (with the R facing the wrong way, no less) on a slate - not a bad idea, as she could probably sprint faster than the giant beast, and every instinct was telling her that this was bad news. Still... there was something about the way it moved..
Melaine didn't have time to finish the thought as, moving back toward the carriage door, something big and thick connected with her ankle, and she found her world flipping upside-down, slamming hard into the cobblestone ground. Groaning, she lay there for a few seconds, hand holding her head as pain throbbed through it, her vision swimming as she tried to blink away the stars. She tried to sit up, but the pain got worse and she almost felt herself heave. Perhaps she could at least roll to the side if it came for her again...
One way, or another, I'm going to find you, I'll get you, I'll get you!
