As you open your eyes, you realize that today is the day. Today, you get your first Pokemon, and nothing could ruin your mood. From downstairs comes the smell of fresh pancakes and coffee. Your mother is obviously awake and already busy helping to give your day a great start.

As you step into New Bark Town, you feel the gentle breeze caress your face. There is the subtle scent of cinnamon in the air, coming from what you can only suspect is the Pokemon Lab of Johto.

Having traveled a minimal distance, you find yourself energetic as you sit on the lawn outside the Johto Lab, enjoying the warming scent of Cinnamon. The air reminds you of the smell given off by a Bellsprout using Sweet Scent.

As you arrive in Littleroot Town, you dust off your Running Shoes. It's been a long trip, but you finally made it. The air is fresh and life couldn't be better, you are only a few yards from your first Pokemon!

As your ferry arrives in the bay near Sandgem town, you see that it is literally a walk on the beach before you arrive in the town that is home of the Sinnoh Lab.

Keneth stepped into the small town and took a deep breath. The strong scent of cinnamon was quite different from the smoky smell that always pervaded Azaelea town from the coal maker's workshop. His bag hung heavily from his shoulder after the long journey out here, but it was all going to be worth it to get his very own Pokemon. He didn't want to waste any more time in getting his starter though, so he trudged his way up to what he suspected to be the Pokemon Lab of Professor Elm. Pulling himself up to stand as tall as he could he pushed against the door to step through. He'd grab the first person he could find to ask about the Professor. "Yo, I'm looking to get a starter. Are you the professor here?"

"Ah, jeez... finally..." That was Hunter's first 'long' trip on a ferry, even for as short of a trip around the island of Sinnoh that it was. Being back on land and having space to move around again was nice. Hunter stretches her sleepy legs and starts walking to Sandgem, glad to take in the sights and see just how small the town was compared to Canalave. Her body wanted to start jogging around out of sheer excitement, but her head kept her put together... for now, at least.
Hunter scratches her head after a moment, trying to remember where the lab was supposed to be.

Katherine was feeling splendid this morning. Having only recently become old enough to receive a trainer's license, the young woman was looking forward to her new life. Open routes, surrounded by nature, meeting new, cute pokemon... The whole works. The walk to New Bark from Cherrygrove was pretty easy, and barely a third of a day's worth of travel. She wasn't an uncommon sight around the laboratory or New Bark in general. Instead of a little messenger bag, today she had a much more telling hiking backpack with her that carried her essentials, with her sleeping roll bundled up and suspended below it. The frail girl had found herself rather dragged down by it all, but she'd surely get strong as the days rolled by. It gave her plenty of excuses to stop and smell the flowers, or play with curious pokemon, at least. Not one to barge into the lab though, she'd taken up a seat outside. She hardly had time to react when some guy just barged right in and started asking questions. A little flustered, she followed right behind. "P-Please be patient!" She quietly squeaked, her attempts to be authoritative coming out as an easily ignored protest.

Rising from his bed he whipped off the covers with a grand smile as he knew what day this was. He has been anticipating this for a long time. He was quick to get into the shower and wash up. He had a big day ahead of him and this might be one of the few luxuries he would be missing for some time if he needed to go past Viridian City. So he was thorough in washing up, made sure to get all the soap out of his thick head of hair and dried himself off as quick as he could. A long sleeved shirt and pants to keep the elements off him. Sturdy hiking boots to make sure his feet had the proper protection along with thick socks. Finally on came a thin vest for extra carrying capacity and the benefit of a hood in case it was dreary out in terms of weather. Meanwhile he donned a single shoulder side pack for his extra essentials. Looking at himself in the mirror he felt ready and soon he came down the steps towards the kitchen. "Good morning mother! Smells delicious down here!" He said brightly as nothing could spoil his mood today. He placed the side pack on the side of the chair and took a seat.

As you burst into the lab, you realize that you had grabbed nothing but a dummy. The lifeless mass was unresponsive, which was to be expected. In the back of the room were three Pokeballs, but not a human was to be found. There was a very large screen covering the back wall with a camera above.

As you run through the town, you hear the conversations of those you pass. According to the bits and pieces you pick up, you find that the northernmost building in town is the Sinnoh Lab.

Peering into the now wide open door, you see that the Johto lab is empty, save for the impatient young man, a few dummies, and the Pokeballs. Maybe this is why it was taking so long to get an answer. The fact that the doors weren't locked simply means that the place is open, but how?

Your mother places a plate loaded with breakfast before you, handing you your final allowance. With a smile, she turns around and heads back into the kitchen to finish cleaning up.

Kate's heart sunk a little as she saw nobody was around. Just... Dummies? With a little pout, she walked away from the other male, looking around for any clue of the lab team's whereabouts. There were three pokeballs left out in the open, but she didn't see a note. And far be it from her to take something that didn't belong to her. "I guess they're not here right now... Did something happen?" She asked, knowing the male would have no actual answers.

Hunter grins as she picks up the location of where she needed to go. It wasn't exactly STELLAR detective work, but she got a bit of a morale boost from it nonetheless. She was too excited to walk now, and by the time she was through the doors to the lab, she was practically tripping over herself. Bursting in, tripping, and somersaulting back to her feet, Hunter calls out.
"Heeey! Is the Professor here? I'm Hunter, the one that was coming from Canalave?"
After blurting out, she THEN takes a look around to see if there was even anyone to hear her.

The breakfast was his favorite meal and one that he never tired to miss. Seems like mom wanted him to be ready and with a full steam of energy. Scrambled eggs with sausage links, and rye toast. Alongside a long glass of moo moo milk and orange juice on top of this. The young man was quite hungry and downs the food, savoring the meal and waiting for some of the news to give the weather reports. Seems like it was reporting partially sunny skies with a chance of a cloudburst. Well it cannot be all perfect but at least the meal was which he had managed to finish without realizing it. Either way he relaxed for a bit longer as if to take in everything about his home. However he couldn't wait for much longer. There was the allowance upon the table. He stood up, took the money and approached his mother. "Love you mom. I'll call you when I get to the next city." He said kindly as he made ready to leave the house. Giving a chaste kiss to the cheek, he darted out of the house to make his appointment for his Starter Pokemon.

This was it, this was the start of his journey and he hoped to make the best of it.

The two of you focus your attention to the large screen in the back of the room as Professor Willow's face appears. Her beauty is the source of a lot of envy around the world, though she spends all of her time with Pokemon and Trainers. Professor Willow wastes no time in beginning her speech.

As you look around, you notice that there are no humans anywhere, and hardly any technology. You do see three Pokeballs on a table that stands in front of a large screen. Beside the table is a camera on a turning stand. The screen brightens and before long, you see the beautiful face of the world's most famous scientist, Professor Willow. She then begins her introductory speech.

As you step outside, you realize that the partly cloudy warning on TV was a lie. The sun is out, the flowers bright and colorful, and the sounds of children and Pokemon can be hear from all directions. While it does make you happy that the sun is out, it seems hard to believe that today is really, finally here.

Professor Willow's Speech:

"Hello, young trainers and welcome to the Pokemon Lab. Today is a bright and glorious day for you, as today is the day you get your your first Pokemon is in front of you on the table. If you would be so kind, please choose one Pokemon and bring it out to say 'Hello'. Once you have done this, you are free to give your Partner a nickname. Please be aware that I will know if you take more than one Pokeball, so don't be greedy."

First post gets first pick, so if you want a Pokemon, post first. Don't worry about hurting another player's feelings. You can negotiate in the OOC

"Well the weather man cannot be right all the time." He said to himself bemused by the positive turn the weather took. There was no time to waste. Side pack slung over his shoulder, he went to collect his starter from the Professor. It was lucky that Viridian City was so close to Pallet Town for this particular start of a trainers journey. Either way he had plenty of time prior to decide which kind of Pokemon he was going to pick. He wanted a Water Type. He wanted Squirtle and that was exactly what he was going with. Either way he didn't have the luxury of time to wait, he had to hustle in order to get that turtle. Thus he was off to Pallet Town. He was fortunate that he didn't have to move through the tall grass in order to get to his destination but he did have a hike on him.

Kenneth was so focused in his conversation that he didn't even notice the young lady walking in behind him. "Hey, if you're busy that's fine but don't just ignore me." When talking failed to get a response he reached forward and shook the figure's shoulder only for it to clatter to the floor. He stared for a moment at the discarded lab coat in his hand as the dummy came to a stop. "Is this some kind of prank?"

Looking around Kenneth noticed the woman standing by a table with some Pokeballs just lying out for the taking. "Hey, any idea where the professor is?" He asked as he stepped up and looked down at the balls. Before a response came, the T.V. came to life to reveal Professor Willow. Ken wondered where the local professor was, but when Willow gave him permission to pick a starter he figured he didn't much care.

"Hell yeah, can't wait to get started." Kenneth looked down at his three choices. The woman beside him momentarily forgotten in his excitement Ken made a grab for the Cyndaquil's ball. Looking at the ball in hand with a manic expression he suddenly spun completely around as quickly as he could and whipped the ball back at the door to the lab. He'd been practicing his trainer throw for days in excitement, but this was the first time he'd be tossing an actual Pokeball. "Come on out, Cyndaquil!"

"Oh. Huh. Nobody?
Confused, she approaches the Pokeballs, eyeing the camera for a moment. The screen comes to life in front of her and suprises her in to flinching, but she quickly eases up seeing Willow in the screen. Her voice was definately calming after the initial shock as well. She listens intently with her arms crossed, and-
"I get to take one?!"
Hunter chooses quickly- she wants the fire type! She takes the Pokeball and squats down as she lets out the Pokemon inside, excited to meet it.

Once again, the hasty male in the same room as her was quick on the draw, rushing over to the table to pick up his favored pokemon. She was behind him waiting to pick as he suddenly whipped around and chucked the ball to release his pokemon, the ball whizzing inches away from her head. It was met with a wide-eyed stare and a squeak of surprise as the young woman froze in place. It took her a few moments to recompose herself before she got to the table, timidly picking up a ball that had an etching of a leaf just above the central button. There hadn't been any doubt in her mind that she'd wanted to start with a grass-type. Of all the pokemon types, they tended to be the most calm. Fire types could be combative or troublesome, and water-types were as varied as the seas. But a grass-type? Almost always relaxed and deliberate in their pacing. It also helped that they were adorably cute or stunningly beautiful thanks to their foliage-like features.

Unlike the other trainer in the room, she didn't chuck her newly acquired friend. Instead, she merely pointed outward towards the floor in front of her, and tapped the little button, causing it to glow red and project her new partner out onto the ground; a green little quadruped with bright eyes and a big leaf growing at the top of it's head. With a smile, she got down on her knees and waved. "Hello there, new friend!" She chimed happily, reaching out her hand to see if her new partner was as friendly as she hoped.

Kristi looked around the quaint little town, even smaller than her own hometown of Lavaridge. It wasn't hard to spot the Pokemon Lab, so she made her way straight there, eager to choose her first Pokemon partner.

She enters the lab just as a monitor on the wall activates and plays the message from Professor Willow. "I guess Professor Birch must be out doing field work," she muses, knowing that the Hoenn Professor was known for doing that a lot. After listening to the message, she heads for the table and quickly grabs the Pokeball containing the Torchic. Having grown up in Lavaridge, she had a bit of an affinity for the Fire-type, and she'd studied enough to know that its evolved forms were the best looking of the starter trio. "Alright, Blaze," she said, naming the Pokemon on the spot, "Time to start our adventure."

Your hike is mostly uneventful, until you meet a very snobby boy with a Pidgey. His face shows that he thinks of himself as a strong trainer, but his Trainer's Belt only holds one Pokeball. "Watch it, punk!" He yells, obviously upset that youre even on the same route as him. You can see the Lab, and could probably be in and out in less than five minutes.

As the Fire Mouse leaves its Pokeball, it makes a show of its flames. The Pokemon is obviously prideful and not likely to accept loss easily. "Cynda!"

Hunter

As the Chimchar is let out of its Pokeball it stretches, obviously still a bit drowsy from a nap. It looks into your eyes and sticks its tongue out playfully. "Chi-Chimcha!"

Katherine

As you let Chikorita free, you realize that you made the right choice. The delicate tone of its voice and soft volume tell you all you need to know. This Chikorita could easily win a few beginner Beauty and Cuteness contests as it seems to sparkle with care. "Chiko-Rrrii~!"

As the Torchic exits the Pokeball, it turns away from you, looking around the lab curiously. It stops when it runs into your leg and lets out a Growl attack cutely. Though cute, it's definitely ready for a challenge. "Torr!"

Kate was just absolutely pleased as punch at the sight of her new companion. It was tall enough to come up to her stomach when she was standing, so with her on her knees, they could look at one another face-to-face. She was instantly in love. Her arms happily wrapped about it's neck adn gently tugged herself in close for a hug. The little trilling noise it made with its call was adorable, and it was clearly in healthy shape and looked stunning. While she wasn't too fond of the kinds of crowds she's have to face during a contest, Chikorita could probably hold its own. "We're going to have a lot of fun together, I know it!" She beamed happily. "How about I call you Willow? Would you like that?"

Hunter laughs a little, getting a big ol' grin on her face in return. "Hey, little man. I'm gonna be travelling around. Making friends, getting strong an' cool an' popular... but I'm gonna need a partner to get strong and cool WITH me. You up for it? Hell, you won't even need to stay in that cramped Pokeball anymore." She stays crouched down, wanting to be on eye level now that she knows how small this Pokemon is. Looks like a fire type, definately, that appealed to Hunter pretty well. "If you're in, hop on!" She pats her shoulder.

[Laughing Hyena]

Ignoring the other trainer he continued onwards to the laboratory. Finally within Pallet Town, he wasted no time. His pokemon awaited him and hopefully he would be the first to get his pick. After all others might have beaten him to this thanks to his hike from Viridian City.

Your Pokemon looks at you with confusion before chiming happily. As you hear the soft tones, Willow nuzzles you. "Chikooo~!"

Chimchar smiles wide and tosses it's hand up, grabbing your shoulder and climbing on. "Chaa, Chiimcha!"

As you walk into the lab you're met by the sight of a female trainer and a table holding three Pokeballs. The screen that you'd not noticed only seconds before blinks on as Professor Willow begins her speech. As she gets to the part about picking a Pokemon, you rush in and grab Squirtle's ball before you lose the chance.

With a burst, the doors open behind you, giving another trainer entry. While this other trainer surely looks poor, you find yourself unable to stay focused and turn to look. Previously you had been looking at the Pokeballs, trying to pick between the three, but as Professor Willow blinks onto the screen, you see the boy rush forward and grab the ball containing Squirtle.
