Layla's father is a warrior, her grandfather was a warrior, and her brothers are warriors. Her? She was born a woman, and was thus destined to become a victor's prize, not a warrior herself, a fate she very much disagreed with. She has heard many tales of female fighters, and decided to prove she can fight just as well as any man. That would be impossible back at home, where she wouldn't be allowed to compete with others. Layla ran away to start her career as a gladiatrix far away from home, intent on returning only after gaining fame and enough victories to show everyone what she's capable of!
When she finally ended in Imperial gladiator school, she realised how stupid that idea was. Layla is young and foolish, and unlike warrior women from her tales, she lacks any combat skill or training beside watching her brothers sparing. But it is too late to turn back now, she will have to learn whatever she needs to win...or she'll become the winner's prize after all.
