Sooooo...

How can you call it a farming simulator if everyone is so focused on combat?

Hey Ungawa and M-void!

We still have a huge focus on breeding that hasn't changed, its a feature we want to have up and running before combat is introduced to the game although optimally we'd be able to show off both in a tech demo. On the side of breeding without getting to official into our plans we are planning on having a more natural system for growth then the original or even the updated BS mechanics for stat growth but in order to get the most out of your monster your going to have to make em breed like rabbits don't worry ;).

As for you M-void this response may fall back to the same one I've had to give before on behalf of the team. We are currently full up in general and in the concern of artwork specifically as the art director 3 conflicting art styles for right now would be a poor choice however I've added your name to a list of artists, coders and writers for when we can think of commissioning people for their works so if you want to message me an example of what ya can do I'll be able to more accurately place you in the list :D.

Since everyone has wanted a teaser for some sort of art I'll post my early works done electronically and keep in mind it was done in paint so no hate please (or tear it up it'll help me get better). Worth a NSFW warning here ;)

It's a start. Obviously, the quality is a little low, but it sounds like you are ready to address that. I like that she's more anthro than the previous game. I would still give the anthro characters hair, hair is sexy. Just as a general art tip, try to use ratios to keep your body sizes from wandering. For example, the length of the hand is usually close to the height of the face.

This is a matter of taste, but I would recommend exaggerating the figure a bit more. This is kind of bland looking for a body, not bad looking but when I watch porn I expect to see porn star bodies, and with cartoon porn, I expect the cartoonist to go a little nuts with it. For some examples, check out Chalodillo's art style: http://chalodillo.deviantart.com/gallery/ cow character: http://chalodillo.deviantart.com/art/Mo ... -616271382 smaller body: http://chalodillo.deviantart.com/art/Li ... -387581639 athletic body: http://chalodillo.deviantart.com/art/Ze ... -502764936 Same goes for movement when you start animation. Take things a little farther than they go in real life.

If you're up for some drawing refreshers, some of my favorites are: http://nsio.deviantart.com/art/Thinking ... -497962610 , http://nsio.deviantart.com/art/Thinking ... -497962610 , http://design.tutsplus.com/articles/car ... ctor-18651 , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdWsNp5KWdE , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haa7n3U ... i92U_l6ZJd , viewtopic.php?f=29&t=6847

Also get yourself the GIMP for electronic art (it's free). Smooth Stroke is a life saver.

Hey Ace,

I've gotten into using krita and I've already been refreshing myself as much as possible but thank you for the helpful material. I'm familiar with proportion in general but I'm still getting a handle on electronic art again. Quality will improve for me personally as I get more adept at using a mouse instead of a pencil. I'm also not the artist who really is doing the "Money" shots for the game that credit goes to Jumbo who does some amazing work and has been helping me through things. I can't stress this enough as to how hard it is to work with a mouse after years of using brushes and pencils for artwork and I've been at it like less then a week.

As for your matter of taste I understand what you're saying :P trust me I really do. Everyone has their own tastes and I love seeing unrealistic things but my art style tends towards more stylised realism, its just how I work. Not saying that's coming through well in that piece of electronic works but that's also the first thing I made in paint in 5 years. Its something I'm improving on and I hope the team will chime into that from what they've seen and that picture doesn't reflect the final product of the game.

For people looking towards the Quality of art some of Jumbo's work can be found Here: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=5852

Firstly, I just want to assure you that this image is merely concept. Final products will be more of the quality in the threads linked by Shames. But Shames' early release of this monster lets me feel free to share a little bit more about it. Those oddly-shaped horns aren't merely there because we thought they looked interesting--they are actually functional trumpets that can be used to announce danger, sound a challenge, or vocalize an orgasm. These Bellhorns are common farm monsters, raised for their delicious milk and natural strength, and during mating season, the trumpeting can be heard for miles around.

This is an example of the types of monsters we will be employing in the game. Everything will have its own little twist, some physical or mental/emotional trait that makes it different from the monsters found in the Monster Girls Encyclopedia. Whether this makes our monsters memorable or likable, only time will tell.
I'm not mad. I'm only forty and eighty percent crazy, and that's split between two personalities, which makes me almost half sane.

Sure, I gotcha. Krita is supposed to be as good as Gimp, so that should be fine. I used to use the mouse exclusively, both with the mouse exclusively 1 2 and with scanned pencil sketches and mouse inking 1 2. Even with the fancy tablet I have now, I find I usually get a better quality if I do the initial sketch in pencil and scan it onto the computer rather than do the whole thing digitally. There are also vector programs like Inkscape or Flash (Gimp has vector modes, Krita probably does too) but if you're used to traditional media, raster programs will probably feel more familiar. I think using a mouse would be more like using a brush, but I was never a big fan of brushes, so I'm not too familiar with how they work.

I'm actually in college learning to do 3D animation right now, one of the things they taught us for working in groups was to make good reference sheets for characters at the beginning. I actually suggest these for people a lot, so I've collected a list of good examples from deviantArt. Besides sharing ideas with others, these are great to have if you're drawing the character a lot for a comic or animation where you need a lot of angles. It's great to be able to look at something for reference instead of trying to work it out in your head every time.

And, I dunno, I guess from a cow-girl character I would expect a body-type more like these:

Although maybe you would want someone more top heavy for cows, since they are famous for milk:

Is there copyright on "Breeding Season" by HarpistaBomb/S-purple on characters/title/game_mechanics?
As they where harking in huge loads of money - $42.3k a month according to here - I don't think they are gonna let others take the fruits of their labour.

Pipebomb was encouraging piracy as he was the one that got screwed over. Purple has a contract entitling him to the copyrights, he seems like the kinda guy that will go after you for using his stuff. So i'd discourage any type of graphical recycling. It's great for research however, they have some pretty professional takes on animation.

Super Villain has the right idea as far as build. G or H cups on a tiny frame would be best.

Hey Ace and ANooB,

I'm going to open with my appreciation of all your input on the project so far you have both shown active interest into the project and for that I want to thank you both. However in terms of what the best body shape for something may be or what you'd expect to see in a given character I want to bring up a few points as cordially as possible as I like to attempt to be a gentleman about my responses.

Firstly I wish to bring up that while I can assure you that your thoughts are being considered ultimately as far as the content that makes it into the game, how it makes it into the game and how its presented is at the mercy of the team. As an artist is easy for me to fulfill the individual concerns of a customer who is commissioning a piece but it becomes incredibly more difficult to include everyone's ideas and concerns when a large audience is concerned. Again that doesn't mean the ideas and concerns aren't being taken into consideration but at that point it falls into the hands of the artist to something that appeals at least a little to everyone.

As far as promises I can make that exactly what you want will be in the game? I can't promise everyone that everything they want will be exactly as they imagined it but I hope we can at least make something that at least partially fills your fetish needs. I can only speak for myself in that people have drastically different ideas on what looks attractive and I think its a huge thing to admit that while something may not appeal to me it does to others.

Ace as far as all the reference material you posted is concerned I've personally taken a look through it all and have made some notes here and there as to what I think may look good on monster concepts. ANooB as far as the build of G or H cups on a tiny frame is concerned I'd like to point you in the direction of an adult film actress named "Busty Buffy" who has natural H cups, I feel like there may be a disconnect in what people think certain breast sizes are and I'm not saying you do but it is worth mentioning.

Sincerely Shames.

Your gentlemanly cordiality is admirable. When faced with similar critiques my usual response is, "I am the artist/programmer/composer and I like it, so we're done here". I'm just trying to be conversational, I don't expect you to bend to my whims any more than I would to yours.

Concept sketches are always welcome though, it's doubtful we'd take anything exactly as drawn but it all goes into the inspiration pool.

OK, quick thing to say, while I do like your take on the cow woman...

Those legs are so brittly skinny! Those could simply collapse from her own weight! D:

Believe me, it's definitely not a bad drawing overall, it's just the very lower part of her legs are not looking good at all. I was thinking that in terms of what I have in mind of this monster, her lower legs have this tuft of hair that's like a Clydesdale horse's own, a nice bushy batch of fur. It'll certainly add something to those legs of hers, that's for sure.

Yeah, i guess i didn't really notuce that til you mentioned it. But you're right. The focus was the hips and breast though, so if you take anything from that concept, take those. I do like your resonating horns idea, though.

ARRRRGH!!! Don't be happy you didn't use reference! Reference is good! There's no prize for working from memory. There IS a prize for getting it right.

The actual drawing is fine.

Damn, I'm gonna have to draw you something now.

So I was disappointed that the original game didn't have the sort of classic leggy bombshell body type. None of the original demons really work for it, except maybe elves, but rabbits are famous for their legs so maybe it would work for a bunny girl. (bunny demon?) I could probably exaggerate that a bit more. What do you guys think?

Forgive me if I seem a bit cautious about the project in its infancy, but it's not for lack of love of what you all are doing and the incredible potential it has, but I do feel it's going in the wrong direction. For someone who's a story wonk like me, what I found appealing was the idea that you owned a farm in an empire that hates it but needs you.

There's so many ways to pull in combat, but I just don't see how it could be a part of what's there. If it is, will it turn into a new Pokemon game instead of a farming game, and if so, what's the original appeal?

I liked the stats and collection part of the game even though it was slow going in the beginning. What I would like (as I've proposed elsewhere) is to have it so that different parts of the empire utilize the monsters differently. Even then, there was more to the issue where some of the questions could be resolved regarding pregnancy or somesuch that may give more features. That could change the game considerably along with the idea that the empire may resist the idea of "Demon children" which would help to explain Mago (perhaps she's a leggy rabbit cousin to her Cow mother or something)

I know there's a lot of story ideas to play with and decide on for the team and I'm just rambling aloud, it's just I hope one thing isn't sacrificed for another in the ever growing thrust of feature creep.

Hello Everyone,

A super tired Shames here so this will be an informal update more then anything I've posted update wise before. I'll try my best to address everyone's concerns an Ungawa has quite a few it seems. Lets start with Ace as it seems the easiest to handle, Demon Bunnies were something me and Valtur were discussing last night actually, nothing concrete in terms of design and story but we both liked the idea of the Lola Bunny style of rabbit ;).

Next up is M-void, its good to see what you can do and I've updated my list of artists because of it, few pointers if I may as someone who studied art for the longest time. Proportion is something that'll come with practice but look up the 8-head proportion models as thats the "Perfect" yet slightly untrue to life ideal for proportions in general with 7 and a half heads being more true to life :D. Also (and I'm bad for this too) Breasts start from the armpit.

And lastly and probably the hardest to answer is Ungawa. I hear your concerns for it basically becoming Pocket Monstergirls, and to that all I can say is its very far from the case. The Issue I always had with pokemon (and I'll get some flak for it) is relatively anything from a Caterpillar to a giant bird thats on fire has the same combat potential a level 100 caterpie and a level 100 Moltres can be held on equal grounds. That to me made little sense and its why we have a concept that certain monsters are better for things then others. A house catgirl isn't going to beat a vicious wolfgirl in a fight. I can't comment on our story yet but mechanics wise I can say, things will be unique enough to be different but close enough to bs to keep the feel
