Well, I managed to import a bunch of code from my previous projects and it looks all right. No random dungeon elements or sex elements yet (;_;) but you can move around like a brawler character would. Press any directional button twice to hop in that direction. If you press forward twice and hold it, you can run (i.e. left while facing left, right while facing right). I could add a brawler game style jumping mechanic, but I'm wondering if I should do it or if that would make the gameplay too complicated.

And the swf size is all wonky. ...fucking ...great. And I have no idea why it draws only half the shadow. Okay, some idea, but come on, game, we shouldn't have to fight like this.

There are a bunch of extra sound files included from when this system was intended for brawler games, a lot of beeps and bonks and laser sounds that I might use for sex. There is also a bgm that you can play by pressing the music button twice (off and then on again). It is very unpornographic, so I doubt that will be the sound of the dungeon later on.

Lookie nice-ie! Not sure how you've got the controls mapped, but would you be able to tag in WASD controls? I'm used to that config.

Didn't read everything in this thread so I might be giving ideas that have already been mentioned but here goes:

Area/Environment: There needs to be a theme for the environment and monsters that are suitable for such environment. Not very necessary but if you make a fleshy cave level then fleshy tentacles, traps and monsters make sense.

Monster behavior and multiple monsters assaulting at the same time, would be especially good for enemies to be able to join in the fun if their behavior is to call for reinforcements. Of course makes sense if the enemies are of the same kind. Now depending on if the game is realtime or turn-based, a system where you can keep watching what happens is good and if you don't want to watch the whole thing you could struggle out. In case of turn-based it would be simple to have 2 buttons, Wait and Struggle. For realtime you'd have to consider if you want the animation to just loop until you press Struggle or if the monsters will be able to Finish if you don't do anything.

Traps. If it's a randomly generated dungeon it kinda means it's roguelike and roguelikes need traps. Simple traps like pitfalls into sexy goodness or traps that trap you into a position where monsters have an easier time to play with you. More complex traps like a pitfall into another room filled with monsters/tentacles from which you have to fight and climb out of, or tentacle traps that are part of a big monster, when you step on such a trap you start getting dragged towards the big tentacle monster.

I'm not a fan of WASD, so I'm not going to just swap it out, but down the road I can code it such that you can press either.

@D_D, some good points. As far as "struggling", I'd like to avoid making the game too rapey. Among other things, the goals of the player should coincide with the goals of the game, and the player wants to have sex so there should not be undue emphasis on avoiding sex. However, something akin to the "run away" function you get in most RPGs could be useful.


I've added the random dungeon function, currently a copy of the random dungeon from Fortress of Fantasm. You can press spacebar to go through the doors. Press spacebar while at the far right edge of the last map (purple mist will appear) to generate a new map. Different variations on the FoF dungeonizer are possible. It's in the first post.


Next will be a system for sexual encounters. However, I am pleased with how easy it has been to update from the old files, so I might split this project and finish up an updated brawler engine while I'm at it.

Oooooohhh! 3D animiated models, nothing like what I was expecting from what you were saying in your other thread, but me likey! :D

All joking aside, I'm interested in seeing where this goes. I think I'm going to enjoy this game...when it gets a little further along (I like what I see so far, however). ;)

Two ideas that immediately jumped out at me for backstories upon reading your first description of what you wanted your themes to be:

(I apologize for the TL;DR nature of these, I've been known to get a little carried away!)

-Scifi: (The TL;DR version is your a sexbot that can fight and got thrown away. Now you wanna go find your original owner, who is on another planet.)

You are a sex robot that was bought by some horny teenager with his/her parents credit card. When the parent(s) found out, they immediately tried returning you to the company, but the company wouldn't take you back. From there, they sold you to the highest bidder, who installed some military programs into you as well as a taser hidden somewhere on your body. He then got tired of you and threw you out to the local scrap yard.

Apparently, sex robot brain+military coding+a nasty bump on the head=consciousness because some time later, you begin to wake up. You have some memories of who and what you are; you know that you're a robot who's meant to serve someone in someway, and you remember the name and face of the teenager you first belonged to, but you don't know what planet that teen is on, where on that planet he is, or even how long it's been since you've last seen him. Still, you feel compelled to find him and become the best robot servant you can be.

From here, you use the scrapyard planet as your hub world of sorts as you make a deal with a local mechanic. YOU run through various randomly generated maze-like structures and make your way past all sorts of creatures to collect various stuff for him, HE takes care of all your needs! (I.E. building you upgrades, creating and upgrading a spaceship for you, and making sure the locals don't try to scrap you for parts.)

I like this as a start. I'm a big advocate of "show, don't tell", so the events would need to get rearranged to avoid a big opening exposition. You'd probably wake up in the scrapyard and get introduced to your memories later. Perhaps you awaken with no memory except for the face of your original owner or inventor and remember a moment of kindness or something, and then experience your memories in reverse as you backtrack your way from where you are to where your life started. However, this may get tricky to pace out in a game, since you would need enough sex scenes to make a long adventure worth it.

A shorter version might be more reasonable. I don't see any reason for the robot to acquire combat techniques, since my preference is to avoid violence altogether. That would also make the story simpler to get across, the player just gets thrown out and needs (or wants) to make its way back to its beloved.

An inventor might be more interesting than an owner, and actually an easier scenario for me to "feel" because I basically invent robot women myself. Perhaps the inventor gets arrested for making sexbots by a dystopian government, or is captured and forced to make bad robots for a badguy, and the player has been activated to come to the rescue. ("Come to the Rescue" would be a fantastic title)

It would be easier if the whole story takes place on a single starship/colony/city/whatever, since if you travel to another planet, I have to represent that somehow. Start in a garbage dump with robots, move on to a city of some kind with various alien/anthro types, and then finish in some kind of high security area, protected by super monsters or other sexbots or something.

OR

From here, you use the scrapyard planet as your hub world of sorts as you make a deal with a local mechanic....


Maybe the past is irrelevant, the junkyard owner simply found the sexbot or built the sexbot and sends it out to do dirty work for the sake of the junkyard business. The goal could be to get enough money to buy something specific or pay off a debt, or to find all the parts of a spaceship to get off the junkyard planet. Maybe the "mechanic" that activated the sexbot is actually a body-less computer intelligence or an R2D2 sort of robot that wants the sexbot to find a new sexbot body for it to inhabit. Or perhaps your mechanic is not someone who is in charge of the junkyard, but instead someone or something that got trapped and is trying to escape with the help of the sexbot.

I once came up with the idea of a "Planet of Insane Robots" that could be useful here. The idea is that robot computer brains degrade over time, just like a human brain or a modern computer. As the robots slowly lose their minds, they can become dangerous to themselves and others. The robots in question are sufficiently intelligent that simply deactivating them or destroying them would be immoral, or risks the robots retaliating, but not so intelligent that they have full human rights. Thus, robots that reach a certain age or begin to show signs of degradation are sent to an uninhabited planet where they can live out their lives as best they can, the Planet of Insane Robots. Most robots succumb to old age and "die" while some last for centuries, going more and more insane. I originally envisioned this as a world exclusively for combat robots, but I could probably make it work for sexbots too. The "junkyard" could be the Planet of Insane Robots.

I see your point. That story was only something my brain threw together before I knew what it was doing, so your free to do whatever you want with it!

The other plot, if your interested, goes as follows:

Urban:(the TL;DR version is you stop public orgies that could turn violent by screwing anthros.)

Every once in a while, in a city of anthros, every anthro above a certain age will go into heat for a while and will have to lock themselves away until the heat runs out. If they don't, they run the risk of becoming violent towards others and even causing those others to go into heat as well.

You are either a single member or a squad in a special division of the cities' police dept. As such it's your job to show up and stop these events before things get to hot. The way this is usually done is by grabbing a heat sufferer and screwing his or her brains out to calm them down, then cuffing them up and carting them off. Rinse and repeat 'till the job is done, while watching your own heat tolerance level so you yourself don't succumb.

From here, if you wanted, I kind of see there being a mystery to solve as to why there seems to be a sudden rise in PH, (Public Heating.) I also think it would be interesting to have the game begin with you choosing only one anthro division member, but being able to pick more recruits as you get higher rankings. That's all up to you though, so have fun with it!

This could definitely work, as is. I could also imagine a scenario where the whole city goes into heat at one time of the year, and you play as a citizen trying to get laid as much as possible before time runs out. Maybe kinda like the Purge, but with sex. If they were something like kangaroos or sheep, you could have a mechanic where you fight off other males and have to impress females based on how many males you've fought and how many females you've boned.

Honestly a Purge-like setting with sex honestly makes more sense than one involve killing. Like you are going to waste a day killing everyone in the country and not spend time working on repopulation, because society will be completely dead once everyone is dead. Not to mention that if anything goes that night, it's more a matter of looking out for yourself instead of grouping up, because if everything is legal, then someone will more than likely get the quick draw and murder everyone until they're left standing alone...

But with sex, it's pretty much getting everyone to increase numbers and have all sorts of fun and crazy stuff! Sure it may be once a year, but that'll be fun!

Heh... This is something I pointed out to him when he was discussing this idea in another thread, so he's fully aware of it. Erotical Night is very in depth & what he has now looks very simplistic, but based on his puzzle game in the other thread, I think he has the ability to make it perhaps as good a game as EN was.

Deja Vu! Yes. I would prefer to make something more simple, like the Legend of Krystal and Mario is Missing games, but with a few more numbers going on.

So just an update on progress, I'm at a stage now where I have to make a lot of little systems all at once for them to actually work, so it will be a while before I have something new to look at. The weather or allergies or something has been sapping my strength and my animation homework takes priority over porn and I want to finish Knarf's Quest too.

Also, just throwing this out there, I like retro-futuristic/raygun-gothic/vintage sci-fi kinda style as well.

I'm actually finding myself more intrigued by the prospect of doing brawler games again than doing porn. I will work on some brawler engine stuff as well as the sex RPG stuff. Been doing some animations for it:

Working with the rig again, I've been reminded that my rig is not especially flexible, in particular it causes weird twisting when characters put their arms above their heads. I'm actually in the middle of rigging classes in my animation degree right now, so part of me wants to wait and get more training before I jump into a big animation project.

Whenever I put violence in a pornographic story (that isn't plot related,) it's usually just my shorthand for, "and then we skipped a sex scene that we weren't particularly interested in." So you could always try that approach.

I've liked your ideas so far, I welcome your support. I've mostly only studied the genre artistically. Image search any of those terms and you'll get a lot to go on. Pulp sci fi or pulp space is also good, or like 40s sci fi, 50s sci fi, etc. Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Tarrano the Conqueror, Jetsons, Original Star Trek, Star Crash and Futurama are in the right neighborhood. Flash Gordon and Flesh Gordon are barely different.

Well, I actually really like brawler games, to the extent that I might say they represent the pinnacle of action gameplay, or at least the potential pinnacle. So if I made a brawler game, I would try to do a good job and not use it to cover things up.

I do feel like beating people up or rape is a mood-killer, so I would want to proceed carefully with how I integrate it. Some ideas to handle it mechanically:

- Some things are for fighting, some things are fucking. For example, if you play as a male, you might fight off other males and fuck any females you find. Both could reduce your stamina.

- There could be fuckables around that give you some kind of healing or upgrade. So instead of eating chickens, you fuck someone to restore all your health (or something natural like masturbate in the shower back at basecamp), or instead of finding the spellbook of fire, you fuck a fire mage to learn the fire spell. If you know that game Altered Beast, maybe you fuck a werewolf to turn into a werewolf yourself.

- And one could always use the simple plot of rescuing your girlfriend (or girlfriends) but instead of living happily ever after, you fuck their brains out.

Upon reading this, I had this strange idea about a super hero duo that powers up by making each other orgasm. XD

Heck, you could even use that as a way of deciding whether your character is a boy or a girl; last to cum fights crime for the day. If you need a heal or recharge, you can screw whomever is around and willing for a small heal or power-up or find some device to bring your boy/girlfriend to you for a full heal plus major temporary bonus!
...I'm fairly certain I can develop this into a much better premise, I just need a bit of time to think.

Two super women that give themselves orgasms would be my pick. There could be dick monsters or princes as well.

Maybe it would like Fortress of Fantasm where you are sort of controlling 2 characters simultaneously. I have some interest in revisiting that concept.

Or it could be like Golden Axe magic cutscenes, instead of flames or flying stones it shows a sex scene.

I have two plans. Both thought out quite a bit. One focus more on combat, the other focuses more on exploration and randomness.

One
Deep combat that includes combos, projectiles, defense, and it's all skill based so even though stats and leveling are included you could beat any enemy from the beginning with just your skills. There are also optional sexual rewards. You fight through enemies to get more combos and skills. I would describe this plan as something similar to dungeon fighter online, or scott pilgram vs the world the game with sex included.
Pros: Familar gameplay, lots of cool animation, leveling progression system, more detailed art
Cons: lots of things that need to be animated, exploration not as interesting, harder to pull off


Two
Running around collect items, finding girls, and fighting enemies. Movement based system you can shoot from far away or get up close to attack quickly and defeat many enemies without ever stopping. You also have the choice to just grab items and run away. The combat looks simple and it's easy to start but it's more complex than just what's on the surface. The idea for this one was a 3D version of a 3D adventure games like shadow of mordor/metal gear solid 5 meets 2D adventure games like spelunky/ legend of zelda(the 2D ones)

Pros:Less animation, more weapons, lots of gameplay options, better porn options , easy to pull off
Cons: fighting not the best, less appealing
