IxFa Wrote:Did you make the sprites yourself, or are these borrowed? (I'm a big fan of pixel-art, so I'll be all over this if that's your style.)
Of course, mechanically, this is entirely lacking. It does show that you can learn to code, so that's good.
Do you have any particular ambitions for this yourself? There's a lot of "whore out and get cash" games here as-is. Many brothels and whatnot.
You're calling it an RPG, what sort of RPG are you ultimately hoping to have?
As for sexual content, I suggest throwing in some bestiality and virginity stuff. Those are great, and there's not enough of it around here.
random Crow Wrote:Hello there,
you are new to coding and I haven't commented on other projects yet, so we have something in common.
Okay, the characters are cute. I guess animations will follow, therefore the love-making will look cute, too. I like that.
It happens to be that you know the basic way of coding. Is it fun for you?
If yes do practice some advanced techniques.
What do you want to do with the background? Are these red rectangle supposed to be houses, shops
or rooms in the future? I think you already have something planned what that supposed to be.
Me personally first tried to walk with WASD. I'm sure you can implement that too, if you like
to. Actually I hit all the common buttons on the keyboard, tried to klick on certain spots with the mouse, till
I finally found out its the arrow keys. Can you make something visible when starting
the game giving a small hint which keys to press when walk the first time?
In the game it says after hooking up with the girl "(...), you gained a level in your sex skills."
But below stands: Skills- sex
Is that intentionally? Does that mean you can later get other skills, too?
Like (don't take the skills I add for serious):
Skills- Sex
- Cook
- Wash
- Walk
Overall I'd like to hear what your ideas were for this game, since I don't believe you haven't thought of any at all.
And as my previous commenter postet, I also want to know what kind of RPG you gona do.
Best wishes.

AcetheSuperVillain Wrote:If you are using characters like this, you will need to make the game very fun or very funny because they aren't very sexy. It is possible to make pixely rpg characters that look good instead of silly. Here's one of mine from Fortress of Fantasm:
Chrono Trigger and Seiken Densetsu III were pretty good at this as well. RPGMaker 2003, Shining Force, Phantasy Star, Pokemon had some decent sprites. Heck, even Final Fantasy Legends/Saga had some rockin' bods.
"RPG" suggests to me that there's going to be more stuff going on. Places to explore. Items to collect. Characters to meet. Things to fight. There's a million directions you could go with this. Some element of adventure or fantasy would be nice since "realistic" porn gets repetitive. Your layout actually reminds me of River City Ransom, an old beat 'em up game with RPG elements. I've mentioned somewhere before that a hentai RCR style game would be really cool, but also a bitch to make.
If you're using sprites, a blit engine might be more convenient. It depends on how you like to do your programming. I love blitting. Flash's display objects confuse me.

Although, I'm not a fan of playing as a male character in these games, but that's merely my preference. You have a good start, and may I suggest adding a little more character to the people? For example, make the conversations more realistic. I don't know how to do coding myself so I'm not here to tell you how to do things, just suggesting my opinion on the conversational experience for the players. Good job so far, and I wish you luck.
AcetheSuperVillain Wrote:Actually, is there any reason you want to do pixely graphics? It seems to me that barely anything is in place, so you could change things if you want. Some people try to hide behind pixel graphics if they feel like their drawing abilities aren't very good. But if you're making a porn game, I think a bad drawing can be better than good pixels, because softness and curviness are important to giving things a sexy feeling and it's really hard to do that with pixels. Not impossible, but hard.
You don't have to draw like Tony Taka to make it work (1, 2, 3)

I'd prefer this over bad drawings anytime.
..Not that I have that much confidence in Sex City, but I definitely believe good pixel art has much more merit than you suggest.

I have made quite a bit of pixel art in my day, and I have grown pretty sick of it. It doesn't look "good", it just looks artsy, and that can be fun for a while, but it doesn't pack the same punch as when a real artist enters the room. Hiding behind pixels held me back as an artist and if I could send a message back in time to 2005 Ace the Super Villain, I would have told him not to bother, learn to draw for real or go all in on 3D.

Would you like to see something like this then?
