Aelius looks at Auri in a mix of a grin and utter surprise. ''This cat is taking the nine lives thing a bit too far.'' He looks around the corridor. ''Where is that little spy then? Is it one of the bandits?''

Edna Claire
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

(Edna's perception roll: 17. Success.)

Looking inside the cell, she sees what looks like some basic medical supplies, a basin with water and towels and some dirty bandage scraps. The water in the basin is a little murky. She comes to the conclusion that this cell was used as some kind of makeshift clinic of some kind. As to why it was inside of a cell however escapes her mind.

"Perhaps we will find a supply room with more suitable garments, Ayla. I would offer you my shirt but this young elf needs it more than we do.", Max will state referring to the elf he carries.

[If magical transfiguration is possible he will offer the following:]
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

"If it's important to you, though, I can attempt to change it into more suitable attire for you.", he'll offer, "Though I would need to borrow your magic and hold those rags in hand."

Maxwell Brewer
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

"It is fine. If we don't find any replacement clothing, I can simply go without. The most annoying is this thing." She said while pointing at the slave collar around her neck before trying to remove it herself. "As the one wearing it, I can't take it off, and it's rather annoying." She explained.

"I've been thinking about those. Though I'm familiar with the magic and some of the laws, there is a part of it all that I haven't quite fully understood yet. What actually denotes ownership? I understand the brand magically binds the collar to the slave, but what binds the slave to an owner?", he asks.

Eliza thought it over for a bit. "Yeah, they'll probably be fine. I'm just feeling a bit stir crazy. Here I am with my freedom on the line and all I can do is wait around to see how it turns out. I'd feel a bit better if there was actually something to do here, but that's just how it is I guess."

Eliza Sharpfang
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

"Well, you could always do what I do when I'm left alone and have a lot of time on my hands, poetry." Luva said smiling.

Maxwell Brewer
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

"I'm no expert on magic. But I actually believe the collar itself has it's own magic to stay on the slave's neck, or at the very least, that's my guess since my goddess already removed my brand. But how the brands work, I have no idea. Just that breaking them requires a fair amount of magic and several steps in carefully removing parts of it simultaneously. I think it's a 5 or 7 layer magical seal of some sort. I could be wrong since I'm not really experienced with magic though. I only dabbled into some for about a year. I used to be a farmer..." She explained, trailing off at that and began tugging at her collar again.

After suspiciously eyeing the hallway Auri turns back to Aelius, "If it was, then we might have more to worry about soon." Though she felt it was just as likely they'd find an exit than finding a way to free the Gnoll, rather than linger she decided to continue searching down the hall, the keys could not be too far from the cells.

"I understand the collar and brand aspect. I'm trying to figure out how these bandits are going to legally transfer ownership of slaves to customers.", Maxwell states, "What's to keep us from taking the slaves we want, putting collars on them and releasing them once we're safely away from here?"

''Hey wait up!'' Aelius trails behind the elf, looking around suspiciously to see if he can catch the spy. ''Maybe we should deliver these before we venture any further, they're really annoying to keep a hold off.'' He eyes at the swords. ''Do you even have any idea where we're going?''

Auri half turns to face him, "You're right, returning with those is better than nothing at all I suppose. Though at this point, your guess is as good as mine unfortunately." Resting her spear on her shoulder she completes her 180 and offers for Aelius to take the lead.

Aelius nods ''Well if the bandits come back our friend can at least defend herself.'' He leads the way, going back to the Gnoll's cell.

Maxwell Brewer
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

"From what I can recall at the top of my head, a slave's ownership is handed over with the help of a spell and the current owners consent. And if the current owner of a slave is killed, the ownership passes back to the one who owned them before them and continues down the line back to the one who branded them. If the one who branded them is no longer alive, the ownership is instead transferred to the one who killed the owner." Ayla explained before stopping and looking at Maxwell. "You really want me to say it don't you?" She asks, giving him a glare.

Maxwell gives Ayla a look of genuine confusion. "I'm afraid I don't follow. What is it I want you to say?"

Eliza Sharpfang
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

"Ah, they're coming back now. Hopefully they found what they were looking for." Luva says after spotting Aelius and Auri returning.

Aelius Feralian
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

The way back to the cell containing the Gnoll is uneventful as expected. Once Aelius arrives, he sees that the Undead woman seems to have been waiting for their return.

Maxwell Brewer
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Ayla growls in frustration. "I didn't want to say it, but you seem to be too dense to get it. My brand was removed, yet the one wearing a slave collar can not remove it. I didn't want to have to ask for help, but since you obviously can't take a hint, I'll have to ask you Could you please take of this stupid collar for me?" She says, clearly upset and embarrassed over having to ask for help.

Auri Von'athem
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Following Aelius, the trip back to the Gnoll's cell doesn't take much time. It seems the Undead woman had been the one actively awaiting their return.

Vella Antina
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

As the other two leave, Vella finds herself relieved as neither of them managed to notice her, leaving her several options on what to do next.

(Heh, sorry I took so long to respond to you all. Had a really tiring day and some stressful work to take care of. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here.)

Eliza lets off the hearty laugh at Luva's suggestion. "I apologize for the deception, but I am not quite the poetry type." Her ears perk though when she hears the others are on their way back. Getting up she moves back to the bars, "There you two are. Did you find anything?"

Aelius smirks a bit overconfidently. ''We found the witchcat and Auri just destroyed her. And than she came back to life. And she fled! But she told us there is a spy somewhere here who has been looking at us. Also Swords!'' He says in a flurry of unconnected sentences, his excitement overflowing as he passes the two spare swords between the bars. (I assume that's possible). ''We got you this, but we don't have keys or an exit yet.''

After following Aelius back to the cell Auri leans herself against the wall just to the side of the bars keeping watch down the hall while listening to them talk. She takes this brief reprieve to attempt and replenish some of her mana, attempting to tap into the natural mana around her for the first time since she arrived.

Auri Von'athem
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Auri's attempt to actively drain magic from the atmosphere around her results in only the tiniest of amounts to be added to her current magic. She discovers that the reason for the shortage of magic is due to the atmosphere nearby having apparently been completely drained out of anything not living in the immediate area. She could however not determine the cause.

"Oh, sorry about that, Ayla.", Maxwell will say as he removes the collar,"I was more focused on another topic."

After removing the collar he will examine it for a moment as an idea begins to form. "Hmm, I wonder...", he'll mumble.
