Can't play 6th build, running out of memory on startup. Hadn't such issues with 5th build.
Still on WinXP, 2 GB RAM.

I get past the Unity logo to a blank black screen and then it crashes. Tried three times. I actually have some weird files in my megasync folder that has some crash files.

I got it to work

Slot machine is good
New alt method for the night stuff thumbs up

don't know if intended but if you drug chuck's sister but don' go down to the beach she's effectively lost forever... same thing if you choose to just watch

I'd assume the tribe quest is still unfinished though since I get no reward from the tribal guy.

In the 6th build there were 3 new animations, I only managed to find one(the native scene), what are the other two scenes?

The game is great btw =)

I also have to say that i tried the 7th build, but it ate way too much ram and crashed before it got anywhere. while i'm not a coder, it seems even more excessive when i haven't seen anything, except perhaps the minigames, that would not be possible in renpy with a fraction of the memory cost.
i did like what i saw when i ran the 3rd release, so i hope you can find a way to reduce the memory consumption so that i, and others with this error, can continue to like and enjoy this game.

The game is larger than it used to be and the pics are better than they were before. It's a big game so it can take a few minutes to load. When you load it, you should see the unity symbol then the screen will be black for a few minutes while it loads. Don't touch the keyboard or mess with the mouse buttons as that'll interrupt the loading and cause the game to crash. Hope this helps.

Yes there is. There's 3 ways.. First is using the in-game settings which unfortunately is not provided. Second is getting into the unity program and altering it (not suggested unless you know how to do that). Third is using the registry. I using command line arguments and they were ignored.
Registry method.. press windows key and r. It opens the run dialog. Type in regedit. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\noone\The Long Vacation.
Click on it and you will see 3 entries. One is "screen manager is fullscreen mode". The other 2 entries are "screenmanager resolution height" and screenmanager resolution width".
Double click the "screen manager is fullscreen mode" and in the value data field change the 1 to a 0. Press enter and now you have windowed mode.
If you want to change the screen resolution you can double click those keys. Important - Change the base value to decimal first then adjust your screen size. Be careful doing the size adjustment because it can lead to distorted pictures, black screen, etc.

You should always be able to start a unity program with "-show-screen-selector" to get the dialog to select resolution and fullscreen vs not

http://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/CommandL ... ments.html

Now, explaining how to use the command line is another thing...

Thanks for the link kvier! Unity uses different commands than I'm used to. Open the link that kvier provided and scroll down to the "Unity Standalone Player command line arguments". That section refers to adding a command to the executable via a shortcut.
To run the game in windowed mode, go to where you have your game stored. Right click on "TheLongVacation" and select "create shortcut". Go to the shortcut you just created and right click it and select "properties". In the "Target" line, you will a see path in parenthesis like "C:\Users\Your Account\Documents\TheLongVacation Build08\TheLongVacation.exe". Put a space after the end and input the command you wish from that list. So to get windowed mode, in the Target line was "C:\Users\Your Account\Documents\TheLongVacation Build08\TheLongVacation.exe" -screen-fullscreen 0
It is verified to work. Not all commands work since its hit or miss but this way there's no messing with the program or the registry.. you're just running a shortcut that can be deleted if you don't like it. And if you like it, just continue using the shortcut you created and modified.
Many thanks to kvier for the link!!

Re: [Unity] The Long Vacation - 9th Build -- FIXED

Postby Myster » Sun May 29, 2016 5:20 pm

Took me a few hours of work, but I finally fixed the game. Now instead of taking 3-6gbs of ram it just takes 53mbs of ram. Runs on directx 9 and now supports window mode.

In other words. All of the crash issues that occured during the last few builds are solved.
I would recommend only to download the latest build and not the previous ones.

Please redownloaded the game from my blog if you feel like you are having issues with the game. (Crash / High memory consumption / etc...)
