Isn't Amaterasu a Shinto deity? I hope it was something sunny xD
Okamisama on the other hand, are a term I never heard before

It's a japanese pun.
The character of Lazy's avatar is the deity Amaterasu which is the goddess represented by the sun and bringer of all life.
The character is in a Okami form but the character is a Ookamisama which means large god or deity (Well the kanji does)

This is all interesting. I love languages and their puns, but one can only learn so many. (I could learn some more one day, but Dutch English German Latin Ancient Greek and a bit of French seem enough to me for now)

Did you know I only fully watched one anime *Gets Gaijinned*

I read mostly german fantasy novels. They mostly seem to have a European fanbase. Some of my favourites aren't even translated into english, but are into dutch.

Can you read manga in Japanese? That would be pretty badass (if you are a japanese person BlueLight, I take that back, then it is normal :P)

I have less than a year 1 and 2 understanding compared to a native. I likely know more kanji than children since they likely don't know any kanji but that's likely the complete opposite compared to year 3.
But most manga are fan translated.

If it's written out, i can generally get the gist of a sentence with about an hours work researching but grammar is something i can't work research as well.

I woukd have hoped, since I knkw some people who read the stuff, and they sure as hell never had any Japanese :3

But respect to you for trying it, I can't imagine learning a language like that, it seems so hard because there is no like, connection. Even Ancient Greek is very recognisable, so you have something to work with

It's strangely easier to some degree. I just didn't continue with the classes far enough for daily use in japan.

Generally sentence are said grammatically back wards.
"Lets study japanese"
turns into
"Japanese study lets" with a few additions.

The hard part is for sure is speaking it verbally or learning the Kanji which are basically words in a single or couple characters. The kanji are kinda a double edge sword. They are a pain to learn but save you so much hassle when writing.

Yup, every language has different rules for placements of words. Both classical languages largely don't give a shit and just randomly put their words wherever it sounds nicest.

I think the kanji indeed sound convenient. Differences are fun! (Which here in Europe, is impopular opinion number one, as everyone seems to be getting racistier)

And here I am sitting on my Finnish throne and think about easy words like "Elokuvateatteri" which is finnish for cinema.
The grammar is a bitch but the plus in the corner is that its pronounced excactly as it is written.

When asked about how Finnish sounds like, most say it sounds very eastern. Like Chinese or Japanese. I've tried to listen but I cannot find any connections. All tough that might reside on the fact that I am a native speaker.

Just a little grammatical example: "Asun talossa" meaning: I live in the house
which is the reason why many people who try to learn Finnish, rip their hairs out.

The reason why the Finnish term "Rallienglanti" is common. Basically English with a very heavy Finnish accent
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62GQLILKkU4
and for a good another example (and good videos) is Hydraulic Press Channel over in youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcMDMo ... wi5-MeiQgw

If you got question about Finnish or Swedish language, I'l try my best to answer :D

nope nope, I have a vampiress that won't let me die... but if you really want the kitsune that badly, I'll let the lazy kitsune go, I try to be non-confrontational (I COULD figure out what that meant, just the kanji threw me because google translate isn't the greatest...)

Ya that came out really more aggressive than intended and the smilies didn't help. It was a inside joke between my friend and i when learning Japanese.... Sorry about that. That said, WOOT i got a kitsune back.

Yeah, it probably was meant more along the lines of *back off, the lazy kitsune is mine* but it translates as *please die*. Still, I'll bow out of the running for a lazy kitsune
