Love the game, wish more frequent updates. People beware of blogspot.com there is some virus going around on there.

It seems anonymous people can't comment on his blog. Tell this guy to look into more mainstream flash games like the ones found on Armor Games, Max Games, Kongregate, etc. They have all kinds of fancy sprites moving around all over the place, but for some reason they don't suffer any performance losses. Why is that? They must be doing something with their logic to optimize performance. Dirtyc101 will need to figure out what they're doing, and copy their techniques. Hopefully one of these developers will have some open source material to show as an example, or at least be nice enough to share performance tips. Or maybe there's a community where these guys started out, where this kind of knowledge is commonplace. In the year 2011, given how advanced the internet is, there's no excuse for anyone to not know something about modern industry or technology - you just have to know where to look.

I am also not posting on his blog to no anonymous option. In regards to his performance issues, I don't think it will be that big a deal if it never gets to the point he wants it to, because the game play is not really conducive to having 10 enemies on the screen at once any way, since they have to overlap, and having one kick hit 10 different enemies is silly. If he wants to make it harder he should make each individual enemy harder. Horde mode could be renamed survival mode and just spawn ever increasing powerful enemies, rather than a huge mass of them.

Funny, I never noticed any performance issues with this game. Why the fixation? I mean, it's great and all to write clean code and stuff, I understand that much, but really, how many people have played/dl'ed the game, and how many have reported poor performance? And how many out of *those* own recycled 1970's soviet hand-me-down computers? (in Soviet Russia, computers play YOU!)
It's a good game that works well, and at the current stage of its development, more content trumps optimization imho.
There are no stupid questions, but there are a lot of inquisitive idiots.

One of the points of optimization is the principle of it; improvement. Wherever a game goes, it's capacity for more content cannot be improved without optimization. Improving a game like so means better graphics, more intense battles, highly detailed sex with multiple screen videos of different angles. To become limitless, one must optimize.

Normally I would agree FuzzFace but it seems he's trying to optimize when there's a lot of enemies. Throughout the demo there weren't too many enemies on the screen at once, and even then it wasn't that bad. The only problem of slowdown is in the endless mode, which kind of makes sense for slow down honestly.

I get performance problems when I fight the pirate boss, since there are lots of pirates on the screen to back her up. My computer is fairly old, and I have no intention of upgrading it, but it can play just about any professionally made flash game without a problem. I just never reported any problems because I don't like to complain, and probably most others who experience performance issues are the same way. In general, I get slow performance with every H-game I play, unless I set the quality to Low and shrink the screen to a small size. But if someone wants to improve their games so I don't have to do that, I think it's a good idea.

So something you guys seem to forgetting (but for banana) is your fastest speed is your slowest bottleneck.
While it doesn't apply to programming like it does hardware it's the same basic idea.

You can only do such much until you need to speed things up. Right now he's getting 10 FPS and thats slow as hell. So he's already gone past what is acceptable for his computer. He can spend money on new computer hardware or optimize the code. Now as a newbie programmer i would think you would want the best code you could make anyways.

So i'm personally with Banana even though my laptop is more than enough to play most games at 22 FPS (Flash games are normally 20) this game slows down on me so i hate to know what the other guys speed is at.

I don't really have a problem if Dirtyc101 wants improve game performance, I ain't going to complain about a thing, though, and I think im talking for many, is that he should atleast first update the game a little, to add a few options here and there, you know, just to keep us updated, instead of playing the same old game for millions of years.

Normally i play a H game once and i'm done with it until a new update and it doesn't really matter if he added any real content or anything. It's the fact it's updated.

Game looks great!!! Only thing I would have liked to see added would be the ability to increase your skills (body/will) through an alternative method (skill points).

TBH, that would take the whole point of character classes away. Just my personal opinion.

Why start anything if it can't stand the sands of time. Everything you make will in the end will up like your body. ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

I'm guessing you don't want a answer like that. The truth is that people don't start a project and plan not to finish them. Sometimes life gets in the way.
