MegaPlayboy Wrote:AzraelWalker Wrote:- At the moment it’s basically impossible to make any serious progress into the game without choosing the extra $1000 at the start. You might want to consider raising the starting amount to $2000 or $2500 so the other two options are viable.
You and I must play very differently because I found the cash bonus to be the hardest of the three, and reputation the easiest.
Heh. I, too, found the cash bonus to be essential to get started. How would you even benefit from a reputation bonus if you lack the funds to build the required bedroom (possibly a second dorm, too, since you can only hire one additional person) and hire a prostitute that will be able to satisfy your customers on her own. I found it near impossible to find girls that weren't either lazy or kleptos (annoying the customers) on the first evening, especially since you can't know their traits until you've hired them or paid for a quick romp which is really only an option for male characters as you're going to need your stamina to work alongside your one lonely hire. That $1000 is very very handy to get things started.
Anyway, on to the feedback!
I've registered here specifically to write this, because, honestly, SimBro is amazing and addictive and deserves my support (and I will give it, because it has been an absolute waste of my time in the most entertaining way!).
First impressions and observationsI was not too happy that there wasn't an independent *.exe I could download and run from my computer, especially since I'm never too sure about the status of savegames with flash games and I prefer to be able to export and name my saves just to know I have them. So far, nothing bad happened to my game, and I hope it stays that way, though.
My initial reaction to the sprites was "oh, it's just like Splatformer!" which is both good and bad. Good because there's a solid core of animations and customizations available, bad because ... let's be honest, there's exactly one sameface in a profile perspective, the boobs look like floaty balloons and the bodyshape is mostly weird. But it works, there are many good animations that compensate for the initial lack of detail, and you can kinda imagine the girls (and your female protagonist if you have one) have unique and different faces if you try enough.
As for the males... ehhh. My first reaction to seeing the guys was confusion, especially since their faces uses a different perspective than the perma-profile of the girls. Some of their faces are just wrong while the evidently newer ones are obviously meant to sit on a much better body with much nicer clothes.
Which brings me to another early observation: Outfits don't work. At all. The same outfit would show up in multiple instances in the shop, and there's this whole mess with Alice's "office bimbo" outfit which looks nothing like the hot secretary suit I imagine her to wear because it uses recycled Splatformer graphics. Every guy in the game has the same nipple-less torso, the same often off-coloured dick (it took me a while to realize these were not blonde pubes I was looking at but some kind of cock ring) and no personality traits. Which honestly isn't even all that bad considering the girls mostly have negative ones that require me to fire them on the spot because they're too lazy to work or steal from their clients.
Anyway, outfits. I'm aware you're working on them and I'm so looking forward to the next release! It just strikes me as odd that the game is obviously meant to be played using a male protagonist (more on that in a bit) when everyone wears the same old thug outfit and uggo orange boots. I tried to create a Nico Bellic (I'm feeling slightly guilty for it.... very very slightly, it would've rocked) main and I couldn't, and the dudes all sucked with their super pretty or super ugly faces with no beard or hair or eye options, while I could customize my sameface female lead who was then able to wear different outfits and have a unique voice but was not able to do half the things the male lead can. That was .... really, really unbalanced.
But I'm still telling you about my first impressions, right? So, those were my first impressions. Game meant to be played as male, no male customization, males ugly. Females can be customized a bit more but only get half the gameplay, so playing as a male lead makes much more sense and is much more fun.
I found the initial bonus choices difficult to choose from until it dawned on me that only the extra money made sense because all of the girls I would be able to hire on the first day were very prone to have negative traits that put them out of business the same day or the day after, and you absolutely NEED to find a reliable worker in order to serve your first customers who will otherwise be angry and ruin your business forever.
More thoughts and impressions:
- some language issues. I'm not a native English speaker myself so I understand where you're coming from.
- that said, characters' emotes are, for some reason, in past tense, i.e. "she winked at you". No. No, she didn't.
- some interface issues. I encountered many situations where I had no way to "end" a conversation other than going back and making a different choice. I also found it increasingly annoying that in the "I'm getting out practice" dialogue from bored girls, the "End" button was not where I expected it to be and there was instead the "Go On" option which forced me through another round of annoying sex when I really only wanted to get rid of the girl. It also currently requires the user to "End" the dialogue twice; once when finishing the sex scene and then again in order to get the girl to leave. This, btw, was one of the most annoying things for me.
- There really has to be a way to shut up the girls who didn't get any that day. I'm not even going for a semi-realistic angle where a whore would probably be super happy to just be paid without having to serve a customer, it's more of a gameplay class issue between maids and whores. I'm totally seconding another user's idea that you should be able to match up whores and thugs so they'll get friendly with each other without bothering the player.
- The bar only works for male characters. Only females can be prostitutes. You already have a class system of thugs, commoners, whores, etc. so it should be easy to make that available to both genders (I think you were already planning on it, as well as working on the required animations, so my point is most likely moot)
- I really wanna bang those police officers
- Alice is funny, and I super enjoyed the shower scene with her which was the latest way to lower her dignity. I don't fully understand her character, though. She obviously has a crush on the (male) protagonist and wants to bang him, and she doesn't really mind being raped in the shower by him, either. Ehhh. Why, exactly, is she there again? Why would she allow this abuse and not despise the guy? There's no option to build any sort of relationship with her, you can only humiliate and abuse her and she's fine with that until she someday has low enough dignity to prostitute herself and that's some kind of success? Yeah, I think not.
- Julia is absolutely adorable. I wished there were more ways to interact with her. I thoroughly enjoyed her unique positions and it made me sad that women by default have some kind of mood problem in this game which lowers their mood if they have sex. It may sound silly but it honestly made me a little happy when Julia's mood improved instead of her usual -5 after "we" had sex. It seemed fairly random, too.
- the prisoner thing depresses me. So I capture enemy ladies and rape them while they visually shake and tremble, and then... what? They stay in my sex dungeon forever, at full hygiene and zero mood and dignity? I want to be able to do something with them. Sell them, perhaps. Convert them, maybe. Talk to them, learn my enemies' secrets... I don't know, the current scenario is just very, very depressing as much as I enjoy force in imaginary scenarios.
Anyway, I could probably go on forever. This game has great potential and I enjoyed it a lot - with a dude, not so much with a gal - so far. I'm definitely going to support you on Patreon and follow the further development. I hope my ramblings weren't too incoherent, I'm currently down with a nasty flu (which is why I had the time to test games on end) which makes me feel all warped and out of this world which probably means my posts are similarly unstructured and weird. Ew.
