Thanks a lot, this helps. Although now it pains me that I have to retrace my step back before I enter Corsix because there are some Optional Quest that I haven't done. Thanks again.

Harem Chapter 2 released! Version 2 0.2

We've completed the rewrite of the Eleen content and everything is ready to go! My Patreons have been enjoying it for the last week but now it's time that everyone gets to play it. Many thanks to them and the support they gave.

Content additions
-The Eleen section of the new world is in the game and ready for exploration.
-Cindy, Sarah and Terra are in the world and ready to be added to your growing Harem if you can capture them.
-2, 8 and 5 scenes for them respectively.
-2 Addtional scenes for Donna as part of a sidequest.
-A sidequest from the Governor which will get you a bit of gold, some new equipment and Donna's 2 new scenes.
-A scene replay is now in the game. Many thanks to JBurton for creating it and NoMoshing for letting me use it. (you should also check out his Harem Collector game if you're looking for something a bit funnier then my writing.) You may have to replay chapter 1 to get those scenes to show up in it.
-Some limited quest guidance features accessible by using the id-ring.
-~210 pages of new writing
-222 new images added
-Gameplay should be about 30min-1 hour on the main arcs from start to finish now assuming that you read everything. Harem is a very text heavy game and will be significantly shorter if you skip the text (that feature coming in chapter 3).
-Combat is fairly light. 1 scripted fight sequence and one dungeon with random enemies along the main arc. Sidequests will typically involve far more combat then the main story.
-Prior saves should be compatible.

Looks like there's some kind of bug at the mage tower. I went there immediately after the first encounter with Cindy, and after the text saying "no reason to be here" the game froze.

Edit: More fun!

The game says that Sarah "was slain" when you beat her.
If you go back to the hideout by boat, your party gains a level every time you return to the mainland.
Then when you try to head southwest, the game will keep leveling you up forever. I'm guessing there's a check for whether the party is level X and leveling up using the boat trick broke it.
The old woman in the church warns you about Nahumists heading east, even though you go west to proceed now.

Make sure that you're running the 2.2.1 version. I accidentally uploaded an old version via RapidGator which had those two bugs in it.

Updated version Harem v2c2.2 released
Mostly just fixing a few bugs

-Removed Cindy from base. She wasn't ever going to have content after capture but I had put her there as a trophy but it wasn't a good idea. She might get promoted back into the game later but don't count on it.
-To fix characters use the 'Check Id Ring' skill under the main character
-Gave Terra the ability to cast spells.
-Removed the magic option from character who couldn't use magic.
-Reorder character reset and join events for item consistency. There may be excess items when upgrading from an old version. Sell em or keep em, doesn't matter.
-Fixed various items that were usable when they should not be

The Id Ring functionality will be changing going forward. It will no longer be an equip-able item, rather something inherent to the main character and usable as a skill rather than an item. Makes it much simpler from a coding perspective. The skill will function as a quest guide (assuming I haven't forgotten to update it) and an option to reset your characters. This won't change their level at all, it resets them to the updated code for them and then relevels them to their old level. Lets me correct/rebalance the game but not try to force it down the players throats.

Having played through the old Harem when you were on trial and it more or less ended after you were forgiven, I thought I would give the upgraded version a go. A few things I noticed that were different...

You can't get into the old cave unless asked by the governor now. BOO! Also missing are the skeletons and ghosts that would make purchasing item easier because they dropped fairly good money.

If you beat Sarah the first time, before finding out about the parry trick, it treats you as though you lost. Granted, the only reason I won was she missed a fair amount and I was down to last hit, but still...

Terra loses the ability to smite her enemies with Saint! BOO!

The hunter quests haven't really been implemented yet, discovered that when I get the wolf skins and giving it to the guy was *no response*

Is Donna now afraid of weapons? She doesn't seem to like any of them...

The goblin/orc burning the town down has been removed (at least for the time being) will that be reactivated at a later time?

I do like that you are redoing things, the ending was really quite rushed beforehand. However, given that you can't get anywhere outside of the first area now, makes me wonder what your intent is for all the *old areas* that you could get to in the old versions!

So we're finishing up the writing and coding for Chapter 3 and starting to look forward. There will be a minor release before you actually get to go into the Corsix mines again and it's a few months out but I've been thinking about that section. Initially there were tentacle rape-beasts in the mines because it was a hentai game so of course there was. But as the plot and story behind Harem developed it became less of a hentai game and more a western adult RPG and increasingly they felt out of place. As I'm rewriting the game I'm asking myself should they be in there at all. I’ve created a poll for my Patreons but I do want to get everyone’s feedback. So let me know if you want the tentacle beasts to still be in the game or should I create a new threat!


And just to clarify, Lesser Corsix will still be under attack and you'll still be venturing into the mines to save the city and earn the 'respect' of a few of its inhabitants. Much of the structure will remain the same, I'm just trying to decide the nature of the threat.

From the point of view of the lore, I really don't think that that tentacle rape-beasts fit very well with the world thta you're creating. A more traditional enemy like kobolds or ghosts, for instance, would work better IMHO.

I tend to agree. It worked well fro BBBen in Pervert Action Crisis but that was set in a Japanese/Hentai environment. This has a more medieval/fantasy with a non-Hentai feel to it. Ogres/goblins/etc would be more in tune...

Yep, if they are going to be brought back they'll be a lot more backstory to them and the game will try to fit them into the world instead of them just appearing as a curveball.

Nice game. I personally prefer a slower wooing rather than hard mind control but that's just me. I particularly enjoyed Sarah's part.

Two bugs that I noticed are:

Demon mage, if you go in the basement without talking to the priest, you are stuck down there.
the mission with the 3 wolf tails is bugged. The dude just never talked to me when I had the tails.

Chapter 3 early access was today to my Patrons. Public release for it will be a week from today!

There's also quite a few changes to the release schedule and Patreon design. If you follow the game it'd be worth checking out the full version on the blog. Short version : I'm trying to do smaller monthly releases and early access is going to a month instead of a week.

Let's see...
The writing is enjoyable if a tad dry, although I have no room to say what would be better as my own dialogue skills are disastrous, and the font really bugs. My vision already sucks and the small blocky font doesn't help really.
I won't say anything about the CGs as I have been spoiled by drawn CGs that I can't be unbiased towards 3DCG CGs
I have to be not finding some of the sidequests cause the chapters feel somewhat short but still a good romp.
The sex scenes are enjoyable, although more interactions between the haremettes without Ralph be an active are desired but not obligatory obviously.
If there are any bugs I haven't encountered them,
Other than that it's a good game. Definite step up on the VX ACE engine, so 8.5/10
