Well, it seems that almost any tool is allowed here, you just need to post your game in the appropriate section, you know "flash projects" or "non-flash projects" in this forum the most popular way of making games is using flash, and that works just fine for 2D games, the second most popular program is RPG Maker, which is useful for making RPG games of course, and it is very easy to use, however it can only be used to make 2D games, i myself am a fan of 3D games and i use a game engine named Unity to make my games, but it can be used to make 2D games too, but it's quite complicated to learn, if you know how to program you can use Flash or Unity, and i think that RPG maker doesn't need any programming skills, but all of them require some artistic skills in order to be able to make unique games, either drawing skills, sprite art or 3D modeling skills, and there are programs to make that kind of stuff too, hope that helps!

RPGMaker is quality software. I'm curious as to how MV will be.

I tried to RPG Maker MV (first time I try to develop something) and I must say it's pretty intuitive. And then I realize that it is very picky to develop a game, even with.

For cons, I have times when the program does not respond when I open the windows features and effects.

That was a problem present in VX as well. I always thought it was due to my emulation of it through Wine.

It just released here in the Western world, so chances are there's probably going to be patches later on that'll hopefully fix things up.

Well, that makes things easier, Unity can make 2D games too, but it might be a little too much, so do you want to make an RPG? if you do then RPG maker would be a good choise, i would still recommend using flash, because it is more popular here on the forum and you can do a lot of stuff with it, but i don't know anything about making games with flash, so you should ask for some help here, or watching some tutorials, also drawing skills are required for making games in flash, and imagination, but that's required in any tool.

RPG maker is great for simple games. So is flash.

Some other options; game maker studio is top-notch. Click team fusion isn't bad either. There's also construct 2, and unity can make 2d game as well as mentioned.

Well i like to test my willpower to make a game before i go through with buying a RPG MAKER. i don't want to have my stuff put on a shelf cause of me or RLPs. Is there a way to get RPG MAKER without the trial?

Not really. I mean, that's what trial versions of programs are for; taking a test run to see if you want to buy it.

Otherwise, you can wait and see if any discounts happen. Humble bundle runs 'pay what you want' type deals that sometimes feature game engines, so it might be good to squat on that
