Classic rock, metal, grunge/alternative, reggae, blues, and death metal, in that order. Different genres for different situations - rock for driving, metal for working out, grunge for chilling, reggae for smoking. I have a hard time liking any pop rock produced after 2000, though this could be because the pop rock radio stations in my city play the same small set of songs so many times that I get sick of them and curse the names of the bands who play them. When a song gets overplayed so much, I start to assume that the producers are just trying to manufacture popularity by appealing to people's desire to like the same things as their peers, and then using charts to present the illusion that everyone likes a particular song.
Favourite artists, in alpha order - if songs by these artists come up on the radio, I will crank it:
AC/DC
Avenged Sevenfold
Black Sabbath (and Ozzy, too)
Bob Marley
Deep Purple
Disturbed
Guns n Roses
Led Zeppelin
Metallica
Nirvana
Primus
Rage Against The Machine
Rammstein
Rolling Stones
Soundgarden (and to a lesser extent, Audioslave)
System Of A Down
Tool
Van Halen
Artists I don't mind, but wouldn't call favourites. I like some songs but not others:
2pac
Alexisonfire
Amon Amarth
Bonjovi
Boston
Cream
Genesis (and Phil Collins, too)
Greenday
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Pink Floyd
Queen
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Rob Zombie
Sean Paul
Slipknot
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Tragically Hip (I sometimes get sick of them because Canadian radio stations play them all the time - along with Rush and The Guess Who - to meet a quota of domestic content)
U2
The Who
ZZ Top
