New York City, New York, USA after E-Day
The year is 2015. The world continues to sway back and forth between war and peace, as it's done for all of human history. In the last hundred years, technology has revolutionized the world and created a global community. People can email, Skype, or call individuals on the other side of the world in seconds. Weapons haven't slouched behind either. World powers wield super bombs capable of bringing the human race to extinction. However, even this is about to be eclipsed by a new type of human, the Meta Human.
A now infamous catastrophe occurred January 1st, 2015, 12:01 AM, now known as The Day of Supernatural Eclipse, or "E-Day." Right as the ball in Times Square, New York City, dropped and brought in the new year, the sky began to swirl. For the whole world to see, a purple and black portal appeared over the square. Many thought it was a laser light show or some new optical trick as part of the celebration. Once the portal was fully formed, dozens of creatures fell from the sky and landed on the ground with a city shaking earthquake. Altogether, there were 39 of the beings. They were all very different in color, shape, and intrinsic design. Some were bipedal, some were quadrapedal, and some were avian. They began reeking unabashed terror on the thousands of people present, raping, murdering, and destroying. Conventional weapons couldn't stop them and before long, the USA declared a state of emergency. The entirety of the city was blocked off and quarantined by the military. The beings, demons, monsters, or whatever they were, had seemingly no desire to leave the city and continued to rampage. Now, New York is a lawless land in which the millions of people stave off and fight for survival against each other and the monsters who occasionally stream from the portal.
When the USA brought this problem to the United Nations, it was deemed a US problem, and other than humanitarian relief, the council would not take action. However, that would not be the last of the appearances. Throughout the world, sightings begin to surface of similar monsters, prominently in Britain and Japan. Two months after E-Day, Japan, Britain, and USA sign a treaty to build an international defense force with the sole purpose of finding a way to defeat these creatures.
Three months after E-Day, in conjunction to the sightings of monsters, more bizarre rumors surface. People who combust fire out of thin air, who project lightning from their hands, and who command kinetic force with their minds. The news began calling them 'meta humans,' a term coined by a lead British reporter. Before long, the international supernatural defense force makes it their priority to seek out these people. They rename their division to "The Meta Human Division", or The MHD. It seemed only these individuals had the strength to combat the monsters appearing across Earth, and perhaps in time, retake New York.
Six months after E-Day, the MHD Project Directors Lillian Casey from the USA, Kimiko Ai from Japan, and Rufus Cunningham from Britain, begin interviewing the few meta humans they've been able to convince to come to MHD and help them fight against these monstrosities of the unknown.
All (Individually)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
You were recruited for an international effort called The Meta Human Division (MHD) and after a long flight to Tokyo, you were driven to a incredibly secure military facility. It was under armed guard and after some walking, you were led to a small room on ground level. Outside, you see a line of other people, very different than the guards and suits you've seen so far. They all look very different in size, clothing, and sex. Could they be here for the same reason?
You're lead into the room alone. Now, you're sitting across a small table, in a room similar to an interrogation room, from two women and a man, all in suits, as they flip through three identical thick yellow folders. It seems it must be about you, as you get the occasional glance. They all seem to be in very good shape and sit with perfect postures. The woman on the left wearing a grey-colored suit certainly appears to be Asian, possibly Japanese. She looks the youngest of the three, possibly between the age of 20-24. She has very long dark hair tied into a ponytail and bright brown eyes.
The woman in the center in the dark suit, no tie, and has very fair skin, revealing some freckles. She has mid-length blonde hair and pale blue eyes. Even though she appears to be in good shape, she must have quite the curves as you notice them even under so many layers.
On the right is the only man of the three. He's quite tall and looks broad in his navy blue suit and black tie, topping out around 6'4 or 6'5, with short brown hair and a completely clean-shaven face. He looks the oldest of the three, possibly between 35-40 years old. You can tell he's quite built and he wears the formal attire very well.
After a bit of silence, they finally seem ready to speak to you.
Jackolen William DePhispe (VintageBass)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
The woman in the middle pipes up, with a clear American accent.
"Welcome, Jackolen William DePhispe. You worked at a carnival and had aspirations for college and track. May I call you Jack? My name is Lillian Casey, these are my partners, Rufus, and Kimiko."
Unfortunately, Lillian botched the pronunciation of your last name, but it can't really be helped, it likely wasn't the first time. Kimiko nods her head slightly to you at the informal introduction and Rufus pipes in, "We're lucky to have you. The task at hand is of the utmost importance."
Whether you shake Lillian's hand or not, she continues, "We heard you had a way with plants. Care to elaborate on that a bit?"
She pauses, catching herself, and says, "We don't mean to antagonize. We want your help, as you know. We just want to know a little more about you."
Jade (MelissaB)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
The man to the right speaks first, "Jade, correct? Unless you prefer a different name. I'm Rufus."
He stands to shake your hand and you find he has a strong grasp, even for you.
He motions to his two friends, "This is Lillian and Kimiko. We're the directors here."
You assume Kimiko must be the lady who looks to be Asian and the blondey must be Lillian. They both smile politely as their introduced.
Rufus retakes his seat and clears his throat, "You've already agreed to join our division, the MHD-"
Kimiko interrupts, "Please, tell us about your power, we have only what tertiary information... what was reported."
Rufus gives her a glare, but he and Lillian both look at you, expecting answers, pens and folders in hand.
Georgia (Venomouswings)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
The woman on the left speaks first, reaching out to your hand to give it a somewhat nervous shake.
"I'm Kimiko, this is Lillian and Rufus."
It was little mystery that the blonde must be Lillian and the man must be Rufus. All three of them have an air about them, like they don't get along or don't like being around each other. It's the same thing that happens in TV shows diversifying their cast, but doesn't usually happen in real life.
Lillian speaks next, "Georgia, right? You've agreed to help MHD for a large sum of money... which is understandable. What you're being paid is more than we'll likely ever see."
She clears her throat and you sense a bit of envy.
"So, how long-"
Rufus cuts off Lillian and says, in a clear English accent, "What my colleague means to say is, we'd like to know more about your power."
Tessa Kiernan (Cryosabre)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
The man on the right speaks first, with a clear England accent, "Tessa, I'm Rufus, one of the three project directors. So, you're from Northern Ireland, eh? And father was special forces. He had an excellent service record. He seemed to want to stay away from populated areas for a long time, and so did you... but I guess we understand why now."
The woman in the middle speaks next, with an obvious American accent, "Tess, we appreciate your spirit and you coming in to help the MHD. We need more folks like you, gifted ones who want to protect humanity. After E-Day... well, we knew we weren't alone in the universe."
Kimiko clears her throat to interrupt her, "So we shall work to prevent another E-Day from here on. Can you tell us about your special ability?"
Zoe Darville (Exalted)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
The curvy blonde in the center speaks first, "Welcome Zoe. I'm Lillian Casey, this is Kimiko, and Rufus. As you probably know, we're the directors of MHD."
More than anything, her accent sounds like she's straight out of New York. It makes you wonder if she escaped before the quarantine, or if she was lucky enough to not be there.
"Zoe, we understand you were a marine. An 'honorable discharge,' but it seems your CO wanted you in a padded room. Said you were dangerous."
Rufus laughs, "Men fear things they don't understand. One of those things is women. Strap on a cocktail of emotion and next-level human abilities, well... I suppose he might've been scared."
Lillian shakes her head, not really appreciating the commentary, "Anyway, could you tell us a bit more about your power? About what happened... to your captors on that day. We understand you reported you couldn't remember, but we thought maybe if it wasn't a military superior asking, you could...?"
Emile (Reaver)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
The energy of the room is a bit tense. You were uncertain your lucrative deal for a fake, stellar, identity had kept, and the three people across the table were looking through folders much thicker than what you concocted for your new life. Maybe they knew and they didn't care. Or maybe they were about to burn you.
Finally, the blonde woman, who's body you probably had some thoughts about, breaks the silence.
"My name is Lillian, and your name is Emile... or would you prefer 'The Feral Hunter'?"
It seems they did know.
She closes the folder and sets it on the table. The other two continue to look at you, a skeptical look on their faces, except Lillian. She seemed confident.
"I don't care what you were before. All I care about is that you're willing to fight these creatures. That you can fight these creatures. You can keep your new identity. American, British, and Japanese intelligence didn't discover it was fake. I did, and I'm willing to keep it that way."
Her eyes unflinchingly meet yours, "Tell me about your abilities, Emile."
Elona "Eloo" Bishka (Meep Meepersons)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
You were kept in silence for a time and you grew slightly hard observing the attractive people across the table from you. After all, you had nothing to do and your mind was left to wander. Finally, the cute freckle-faced blonde breaks the silence.
"Elona... we're shocked how little international intelligence was able to gather on you. You merely vanished for the vast majority of your life."
She closes the folder and puts it down, meeting your eyes, "Sorry, my name is Lillian and we are the project directors for MHD."
Lillian's hand reaches out to shake yours. You notice a few droplets of sweat on her brow.
"We do know you're different in more than a few ways. Do you really have a large, thick-"
The other woman on the left interrupts her, "What she means to say is, we'd like to know about your special powers... not necessarily the one between your legs."
Willow O'Kain (Spriter)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
As the three people infront of you look over thick folders likely about you, you receive the occasional glances of mistrust. The same glances your teachers and non-criminal life peers gave you. The look of someone who disapproves of your lifestyle, but it couldn't be helped now.
The woman in the center speaks first, "Willow... You have quite a history. As you know, we're the project directors for MHD. I'm Lillian, my colleagues are Kimiko and Rufus."
Lillian sighs, "Honestly, I know the deal. FBI found out about your powers, diverted their best organized crime task force into building a case against you and your father, and they locked you down with 'serve in MHD or spend life in prison.' You might be glad to know that I don't care about that. I just want to know that you're committed..."
The Japanese woman interrupts, "And we'd also like to know about your power, please."
Lauren Reis (Tsai)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
You feel probing eyes as the three sit across from you. Maybe they were nervous, maybe you were nervous. You saw your picture in the folders they're studying earnestly. It's no doubt they're last minute prep before they talk to you.
The one man of the three breaks the silence first and he speaks with an obvious British accent.
"Lauren Reis, I'm Rufus, this is Lillian and Kimiko. As you know, we're the project directors. We'd just like a word with you before we get things moving..."
Lillian intercedes, "We have a team of psychologists that claims you're a danger to yourself and those around you. Not because of your fire, but apparently you have mild psychopathic and sociopathic tendencies that might worsen under high stress. Unfortunately, this job is going be exactly that... high stress."
The third interviewer, the Japanese woman, butts in, "We want to know the extent and details of your pyrokinesis. We'd also like to know if you can keep it together and work with a team of similar meta humans, if only to avoid the life-without-parole prison sentence awaiting you otherwise."
Jisoo Kim (Albedo28)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
The three people across the table make you sit in silence as they review a thick folder likely about you. Finally, one by one, they close their folders, place them on the table, and break the silence.
With a smile, the woman in the middle says, "Welcome, Jisoo, 'Jason.' We're the team leading the Meta Human Division and interviewing its members. You've already agree to work in MHD, so this is more of a formality. My name is Lillian... this is Rufus, and Kimiko."
The other two nod at you and the man says, "Good to have you aboard. Hopefully we'll get to know each other very well."
Lillian says, "Yes, we need committed, disciplined, individuals like yourself to help this team come together and succeed against our otherworld adversaries."
Kimiko cuts to the point, "Jisoo, we'd like to know your abilities, your powers, in detail. We have only sparse reports."
The other two look at you expectantly, it was quite obvious they all wanted to know.
