@Poisonleech: No, that was a test shot I took from quite early in the process. Hah, that gaudy background makes me cringe a bit. Some of those items will be in the game, some will not. Actual outfits that Aylia can wear outside of town (and in battle) will be limited, but there will be a few. There will also be quest/event specific outfits, like the wenches outfit or bunnysuit. In chapter 1, the only outfit available will be the peasant dress. The other outfits come in later chapters, starting with chapter 2.

I was expecting a late March release (understandably March flew by). Any guess to when Chapter 1 will be out? (I would like to stop the daily checks, lol)

I was hoping for a late March release, but didn't make it. There is a lot to do in designing a game. You can hold off on daily checks, it is a still a bit off. All I can say right this instant is that chapter 1 should be out sometime in April. I'll give everyone a heads up when I lock down a legitimate date.

Don't force yourself, please. Whenever you're ready is a perfectly acceptable deadline. Much as I'm looking forward to it, I expect better things from playing it fast and loose rather than pushing it into time constraints, personally.

Yeah, it's much better if you fudge the date a little and have a better game as a result than *must have an update by X date* and there are errors and mistakes that could easier have been avoided by taking an extra 2 days and ironing things out. I can usually tell when a game seems rushed because of a *must get update by X date* and almost always it would have been better if they said *we will shoot for this date, but if we are a few days late it's because we wanted to iron out the bugs some*. Trust me, I would much rather a game be delayed a little and it looks more polished than game is on time, but there are numerous spelling errors and bugs...

Chapter 1 status update and release plan!
Published April 3, 2015

Hello everyone! So, I've had lots of time to work on Aylia's Story last week, and boy was it fun :-). I got everything organized and instead of fairly vague percentages, I have an up-to-date list of things to accomplish in order to release the chapter 1 that I've hoped for. I think once you play it, you guys will understand why it has taken me awhile to get everything in place, but more on that in a second. First, if you have not heard, I would highly recommend checking out Eromancer's Malise and the Machine on Patreon. I just finished the demo released yesterday, and I love what Eromancer is doing. The game is bursting at the seams with quality, and it's awesome to see the support he is receiving! Check it out! Now, what you all are most likely waiting for--Chapter 1 release plan. Target release date for Patreon supporters: April 26th Target public release: May 2nd What you can expect in chapter 1: 2 Multi-stage main quests. All main quests will dramatically influence the game's progression. 2 Multi-stage rival quests. 3 - 4 Side Quests 10-12 Quest related CGs (Hell yea!) A working battle system with 4 "H" related enemies, including approximately 10 "H" attack CGs. Loads of mini-events, dialogue and little extras, including a fairly basic, but hopefully fun Bogwort "sneak" game when Aylia is bathing... hehe, you'll just have to wait and see! Honestly, I really think everyone will be pleased with how the game progresses. This chapter will set the stage for the game going forward. I don't plan on skimping at all along the way, and hopefully, Aylia's Story will be a grand experience when it is all said and done! Thank you all for the positive feedback, support and patience you've shown me so far. My hope is that once I release this chapter, the game garners enough support for me to try and go full time, as I have some big stuff planned for Chapter 2. Remember, much of my work on future chapters will be mapping, writing, and drawing--which is freakin' awesome. I greatly look forward to it. YT

I'm shooting for April 26th for Patreon supporters and May 2nd for public release. I figure I can squash any bugs between the beta release and public release, and maybe add some last minute polish. I'm pretty confident I'll hit this date, but since I do this on the side, it is always feasible something may come up. The reality is that creating a game like this requires a LOT of time and effort, so don't hate me too much if I miss the date again... :oops:

Hi! I have a question: i take a look at your patreon page, and i could be interested about supporting you, i play at your demo and the game seem great :)

But, if i support you, with the first possibility (1 dollar, can't do much more for now :'( ), i can have the game? Or i need a higher amount?
I'm not sure about it, not very clear for me (Sorry for my bad english but i'm still learning it, i'm not a native one)

@Misheeru: The $1 tier is meant to have access to the activity log. Meaning you can follow along with the updates and have a clearer idea of where the game is going. Really, it is designed so people can offer a little support because they like the game. Access to beta versions of the game will be reserved for the $10 tier and above.

That said, there are two things to note. 1) The game will be freely distributed once it is completed. Meaning, you do not need to support my Patreon in order to play the final game. I obviously love any support people can provide, but I understand not everyone can. 2) The first release (chapter 1) will also be distributed publicly for free. It will be available approximately 1 week after I release it on Patreon.

Should have replied on here sooner, but it won't be May 2nd. Best I can tell you is it will be in May at some point. Real life got in the way, and since I'm currently doing this as a hobby, that will happen. That said, I am taking things part-time on May 10th, and will have two days a week reserved for 5-6 hours of working on Aylia's Story. This is a first step in eventually trying to do this full time. Because I am only running paid updates on game content releases, and I am not charging for chapter 1, even if I hit $4,000 per update, I'll still have to wait a bit to try to go full time.

My aim is to try and get all these kinks worked out now, and set the foundation to get Aylia's Story out to you guys in a reasonable amount of time, and to produce more English games in the future!

Again, sorry for missing the deadline again... I'm avoiding setting deadlines for the time being, as it is just too hard to predict how long some of this stuff will take me--it is the first time I am doing a lot of it.

Wanted to chime in with everyone else and say that I really enjoyed the demo.

A few things:

1. CG -- simply awesome. Please consider having a gallery mode where CG can be seen in full resolution after unlocking if possible.
2. Story -- not too shabby, but it should at least hint at what is Aylia's goal from her perspective. We know she lost everything, we know she will have to do what Gods (and others) say, but we would like to know what she would like to do with her life too.
3. Characters -- DAT goblin... LOL

On the other hand, to me it looked like she did push her nose (and her luck) where it didn't belong. I don't think that scene needs any adjustment. Maybe just enable her to deal with him later in some way based on player's choice?

@4access69: Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. To respond to your comments:

1. I do plan on putting a CG/Scene room in the game. All the art is vector artwork that I downscale to 640x480, so perhaps I'll also consider offering higher resolution pictures outside the game in the final version, not sure on that.
2. I agree, but remember this is just the prologue and a very small portion of the game. Aylia just woke up after centuries of imprisonment and has only the Goddess' cryptic message to go on. She doesn't know what she wants yet, and does not even really know what to expect in the world. The player will get some input on her goals/dreams, but I intend for this to be a player driven experience, so your choices will have a big impact on what Aylia accomplishes and what goals she sets for herself.
3. Hah, yea, I'm a big fan of Bogwort--lecherous little bastard.

As for the scene, I already adjusted it slightly. Nothing too major, but added a bit to emphasize how appalled Aylia was by Dirk's actions. Aylia will also remember that interaction later on--assuming you talk to Dirk while wearing the potato sack.
