A Foreboding Time OOC

Postby Albedo28 » Mon Dec 29, 2014 7:30 pm

The IC thread is up: http://www.legendofkrystal.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=4852

I'm starting up a Pathfinder RP and am looking for folks to be my players! (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ will give you the info you need.)

We'll be starting the game off with characters at level 2. Core and base classes are allowed. No third party races allowed. Everyone starts with 1000gp to spend on equipment (unless you choose the rich parents trait in which case you start with 1900gp). Everyone is allowed up to two traits.

I want people to post their sheets using http://www.myth-weavers.com/. It's quite a nice little tool. Make sure to write a bio explaining your experience adventuring so far (nothing massive, you've all done something to reach level 2 but you're not conquerors or dragon slayers yet!) and include a description of how your character looks (pictures preferred but not demanded)

This game will have a Maximum of 6 slots. One slot has already been claimed by Spriter1 so 5 are still available. I will be asking people to keep a fairly active post frequency. A lack of posting for two days will see your character standing idle while whatever you were involved in moves along if you're involved in a scene involving multiple players. Not posting for 4 days will see your spot opened for new recruits if there are any interested. If you give me advanced notice of your inability to post I'll hold your spot for you.

Now for the information about the setting!

The land you all find yourselves in is called Gaelion. The kingdom is one of the largest on the continent and covers the entire eastern half of the land from the frozen wastes of the north to the warm tropics of the south. Trade from across the sea has made Gaelion rich but has also brought foreign plagues to the kingdom. Recently many have died from sickness and the survivors have found that the dead are restless in their graves. Beyond the growing undead problem, the orc kingdom of Kruug to the northwest has become increasingly hostile to Gaelion after trade negotiations broke down. The likelihood of an all out war seems to be growing greater with each passing day. Still worse is that the Drow under-kingdom has seen increased activity. Bands of drow appearing from time to time to capture and enslave entire families or convoys.
Each of the players have made their way to Crossroads, a fairly well known trade post that borders the divide between Gaelion and Kruug lands. Whether they came for the trade opprotunities, traveling through, responding to the call for aid of the various businessmen, or simply grew up there is up to you. Whatever way you came to Crossroads you find the place abuzz with activity and full of people wanting to pay for strong men and women willing to brave the dangers that the kingdom now faces.

I look forward to your posts!

Name: Garian
Race: Human
Class: Fighter

http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.p ... id=1086814

How he got to level 2: Garian was in a small village overrun with problems and vowed to stay until he cleared up at least some of it. He used his diplomacy and intimidation to help unify the guards and to scare away bandits, he then moved out into the forest in hunt of kobolds and the like, slaying them when he could and scared the rest away. When he felt the village was doing fine, he moved on to other things, the bandits he scared away though came back after him and, after slaying quite a bit of them, had them turn tail and run after killing their leader, allowing him to travel in peace once more to find more adventure and to bed women.

Name: Eva
Race: Android
Class: Alchemist

The story of how she got her 2nd level: She was heading up to town to put on her robes and pimping hat, when she heard tale of a bandit camp nearby. Naturally she cleared it out and got some components to make herself some different kinds of potions and brews, before she once again began heading down and ending up at the crossroads, thinking that if there is anywhere she is going to be able to sell off her brews till she can make enough money to start up a pimping business.

What are you using to make ability scores for the characters, point buy or rolls?

I used the 4D6-lowest roll and was told that was alright. I'm not sure about others though.

We're using the standard 4d6 drop the lowest number rolling method for ability scores.

id totally like to make a character for this but I tend to over analyse character creation and it ends up taking me forever so is there some sort of reserve system you got working or am I just going to have to rush through this?

I've already started looking at some option but just wanted to ask before I go any further, are you allowing gunslingers?

Figured I'd double check even though they are a base class some GM's don't like guns to be in the campaign. But if your cool with them then so am I. Figured I toss out this question too, are you going with "Emerging Guns" for the technology level or something higher?

Firearms will be the flintlock pistols, blunderbusses, and the like. There's a possibility for more unique weapons down the line but you will not see modern firearms.

Bio:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Derek, who now usually prefers Wilson, grew up mostly under the care of his traveling merchant father. He spent a few of his early years with his mother, who he now assumes to be a prostitute or a women of similar profession. He's spent near the entirety of his life on the road trading goods with his father or family friends, chasing fruitless relationships, and picking up odd jobs here and there. Derek and his father where by no means rich but they were well off in terms of coin. Whilst at a young age Derek was gifted the musket he still wields to this day, by his father. Before his father deemed him old enough to own and operate his own carriage or wagon, Derek sat shotgun and aided in the protection of their cargo from behind a long unforgiving barrel. Upon reaching adulthood Derek purchased his own horses and carriage and sought to make a lively hood by transporting passengers across the countryside to and from popular destination. He does dabble in trading but he failed to inherent his father's silver tongue, but commitment to life on the road seems to genetic. Derek has been known to join a hunt from time to time or offer protection to individuals or small groups through certain territories.

Appearance:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Derek is of average size and stature, he is fit and slightly muscular with decent tone. He has medium length black hair and hazel eyes. He often sports a goatee combo with minimal stubble or a full beard depending on the length of travel between towns and cities.

Lvl 2: Bit of hunting here or there, a bar fight or two, and quite the risky run in with a Drow raiding party.

I don't know if all spots are already taken, but original character from the other PF RP bumped up a level

http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.p ... id=1085653

Name: Ashlysaaria Tor'viir
Race: Drow
Class: Bard (dervish dancer archetype)
Appearance:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Image
Bio: Ash was born as a daughter in a drow noble house, but as is common in drow society, her house was attacked and defeated. Ash herself was relatively lucky, instead of being killed in battle or sacrificed later, she ended up as a slave in the victorious house. As a slave, Ash served as a dancer and "entertainer"; apparently, the matriarch of a rival house thought that having the daughter of her defeated enemy thus humiliated would be both funny and a good show of her own power. But in the drow society, nobody lasts unchallenged for long. After a few years of slavery, Ash managed to steal some equipment and escape in the confusion of the attack on her owner's house (gaining her 2nd level in the process). She knew she can't hide or survive in the Underdark forewer, not on her own, so she went the only way she had left: to the surface. Now she's there, she doesn't know anything about the life up there, she's unequiped, light hurts her eyes...and her race is hardly the most popular one.
If it takes me two weeks or more to respond to a RP without prior notice, send me a PM. It's more likely I've missed the last post, forgot or got distracted and need a little reminder rather than deciding to drop the game without warning.

Sorry about the wait. I was originally planning on using today to build my character sheet, but then my job decided I apparently don't need that day off after all and slapped me with an all day shift. I'm working on it now so it'll be up soon.

EDIT: Done with basics, so here's the Character Sheet
Name: Ray
Gender: Female
Class: Monk
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Appearance:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Bio:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Ray was born Rachael Banister to a poor family. From a young age, she knew the struggle her parents went through to provide basics like food and clothes to her so she never took it for granted. She even learned how to make and repair clothing from a local seamstress in exchange for fulfilling the more basic orders to make her parents money go further. It was tough, but with her family around she was happy. That was shattered one day when it was revealed that, desperate to upgrade their standard of living, her father got involved in organized crime running illegal and addictive drugs to the middle class. These drugs often had the side effect of killing the user and one day when she was 10, her father's sins caught up with him. She still blames herself for not noticing the assassin slip past her to gut her father and firmly believes that if she had he would be alive.

From that point on, she drove herself to take in as much of the world around her as possible to prevent such a thing from happening again. This was somewhat hampered by the fact that with her father dead, she needed to take up more responsibility in the household in order to prevent herself and her mother from starving or being out in the streets. She took up more seamstress work and her mother resorted to selling her body. In the course of this, her mother caught a disease that caused her to slowly waste away. This convinced her that she should know when someone's lying to her, like one of her mother's customers did about his diseases and his use of protection. In the end, Rachael mercy killed her mother. She simply couldn't bear to see such a strong woman reduced to a barely moving husk of her former self. At that point, Rachael created a theory: All of the problems in life come from a lack of money, so if everyone is rich then no one has to suffer. But her parents demonstrated that if you attempt to make this money through devious means, only tragedy lies ahead. So she set off at age 16 with the brawling skills she taught herself fighting for spare food on the streets to become an adventurer, making money by helping those around her and then helping those less fortunate to prevent the things she'd experienced from happening again. To distance herself from her hurts, she dropped her name, calling herself Ray to have something to answer to.

She travels with as little as she can get away with, not needing much to survive thanks to her austere upbringing and heavy armors and such only slowing her down. She's refined her fighting style over the past 6 years and sees it almost as another facet of her journey, figuring the stronger she is and the more skilled she is, the more people she can help overall. Her personality is fairly withdrawn since she worries about finding new friends and losing them like she did her parents. She's met plenty of people during her travels and helped more than that, but she's never really bonded with any of them. She's incredibly concerned with her virginity and keeping it intact after seeing what happened with her mother using her body freely.

Reaching Level 2:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

During her travels, Ray came across a bounty set on the head of a syndicate. She faintly recognized it from somewhere, so she took the bounty up to see why it jogged her memory. It turns out that the boss led the same syndicate that led to her father's death. In her fury upon realizing that, she ended up forgoing her usual careful attempts and headlong charging into their base of operations with murder on her mind. Somewhere along the way after about 10 to 15 corpses, common sense starting reasserting itself and told her that trying to take on an entire gang by herself would be suicidally stupid and used the chaos she created to sneak to the boss. The fight to subdue him was long and hard, especially since the occasional grunt would pop in to help out, but she managed to knock him unconscious and smuggle his body out of the building to be handed to the authorities. Well, it was more like her throwing him out a window into a dumpster and then jumping out a slightly lower window to escape, but the first version sounds better to her.
There's organized chaos, then there's normal chaos. And then there's miscellaneous chaos...
