that man Wrote:"If you understand me, don't move," Lea said after turning on her universal translator. "If you stay where you are, I will not hurt you. If you take one step forward-"

Lea raised her gun so that she would be able to hit the thing even if she twitched while shooting, ready to fire if it charged her. At the same time, she kept one eye on the radar, in case this was a pack creature.

It doesn't seem to understand you, for it moves to roar at you as you let off a shot, which glances against the beast. It halts its roar, as it instead lets out a higher pitched shriek of pain. It sniffs at the small wound you've inflicted...then roars as it charges towards you!

"Pity" Lea sighed, as she calmly took steps back on her predetermined retreat route to her ship.

At the same time, Lea kept shooting away at the thing, trying not to kill it, but wouldn't loose any sleep over the loss.

It gives chase, but your continued firing is quickly wearing it down until, finally, it lets out a shrill screech of pain before falling down to the ground, no longer moving.

"What a pity," Lea sighed, as she reloaded her gun before moving closer to the creature on the ground.

She kept her gun and scanner trained on it as she moved closer to the monster, not trying to kill it or get harmed by it. She also tried to not startle it if it was alive, and figure out what it was.

Your scanner records what information it can, but sense it seems that you did indeed finish it off, you can only get a partial recording. You'll have to look for another one of them to complete the file.

Unconcerned, Lea checked how much space she had on her ship, as she already knew people who would be willing to pay for creatures, even of a dead sort. Not to mention, since this planet was uncharted, none of this counted as poaching, so all Lea had to do to sell it was advertise it.

You have enough room to bring it aboard and preserve it, though it takes a good ten minutes to do so. Once you head back out though...you see two more of the things snooping about your ship. They haven't noticed you yet, so you could take some readings.

Lea doesn't even allow herself to be startled, as she quickly takes in the readings on the things from a distance. She is also readying whatever stunning equipment she has in an attempt to catch one, though, she will toss it away in an instant if they charged her.

You get your readings, though the only stunning options you have is switching your standard beam pistol to a stun mode...and its mostly meant to work on normal humanoids. It might not work against these giant bugs.

Lea decides to take a risk by holding her hand near the dial, while still keeping her distance from the creatures, so that she could attempt to stun them with two or three shots, before switching to a more lethal setting if she had to: especially with there being two of them.

(GM Roll-18+2=20!)

Either they're weak to the energies making up the shots, or your rapid fire of shots was enough to break through any resistance, and you drop both of them to the ground, their bodies twitching slightly but otherwise unharmed.

Lea couldn't help bit to almost smile, as she took in how relatively easy that was. She carefully pulled out some syringes of universal tranquilizers, as well as some binding materials, so that she could make sure that the creatures were not going to do anything. At the same time, she simply took scans of them, as she didn't feel comfortable with bringing in a live specimen, both due to the time it would take to sell, and because of the slight connection she had with live creatures in cages.

You bind and tranquilize the bugs, bringing them both aboard and placing them inside stasis pods in your cargo bay. Short of the power going out, they'll stay there in suspended hibernation until you pull them out. At the very least, it'd keep them from causing you any trouble, and when you were ready to leave you could always pull them out.

Now you can go further, perhaps explore the nearby mountains and see if there are any caves worth looking into.

With the creatures in captivity, Lea decides to go and explore the mountains nearby, but not after first restocking all of her munitions, double checking the locks on the hibernation units, making sure the planetary topographical scanners were still going, and then finally her own armor.

The locks are firmly in place, and you still have plenty of ammo with you, your power packs not even below 95%. Your ships scanners are slowly but surely expanding their sweeps as they get more and more information on the areas around it. As for your armor, well everything seems to be in the right place and in good condition. Your about as ready as you can be.

Lea nods firmly, and then started heading out towards the cave systems. Lea first decided to lock her ship up, and activate some of the defensive features, before heading out again.

Several turrets pop out, scanning the area for hostiles as you make your way over to one of the nearby caves. You note that it seems to have some natural light from both glowing crystal formations, and the occasional pile of neon hued fungi. The tunnel seems to currently go straight ahead, but your HUD says the scanners believe it has a fork further ahead.

Not wanting to make a rash decision, Lea decides to wait until she gets to the fork before deciding which way she wanted to go. Either way, she would mark off the trail she had taken, and collect samples of the luminescent crystals in case they might be useful or valuable. The same goes for the fungi, but she is even more careful not to touch that.

As you gather the samples, you catch movement out of the corner of your eye. Looking up, you spot what at first looks like a rock moving along the ceiling, but then you spot a pair of soft, green glowing eyes. It doesn't do anything but crawl along the ceiling...until its right above you. It then lets out a chirp, and detaches, landing on your arm where it sprays a purple mist at your face.

Cursing herself for not putting on a breathing device, Lea instantly stopped breathing, threw the thing off of her, and tried to put on her emergency mask before whatever that thing was gas got into her lungs and poisoned her...or worse, killed her outright.
