Hogwarts: School of Witchcraft and Jizzardry

1). Each player, with a maximum of ten, shall create a character (female only), they will then begin their first year at Hogwarts.
2.) There is no specific goal except for what you make of it. You will attend classes, socialize, and discover quests to go on if you want to.
3.) If you are well respected you will be treated better, gain stronger allies, and generally be safer. However, if you do not command respect, you may find yourself catcalled, groped, molested, and even worse in the castle’s corridors.
4.) You will tell me what action you'd like to take and I will roll for you, as the GM.
5.) Sometimes you will have to roll for various tests. e.g. a strength or intelligence test. You must roll EQUAL TO OR BELOW what I state. Rolling between 0 and 15 counts as an epic win. Rolling 85-100 counts as an epic fail and will have extra negative modifiers applied to it.
6.) No scat/guro. The character’s age will never be specified, nor will the age range of students at Hogwarts. It could very easily be an institution for adults, much like a university. Or it may not be if the reader doesn't want it to be that. All characters are whatever reasonable age readers want them to be.

So, how much knowledge of the Harry Potter universe would we need to know in order to enjoy this RP? I'm somewhat interested in this RP, but I don't know very much about the books, asides from the first one.

Is this RP taking place post or pre the ending of deathly hallows? Either way how far ahead or behind that moment are we talking?

EDIT: Also will the major and minor be the only classes we go to, or are they just two subjects that we will specialise in? Also will there be anything to do with the extra-curricular subjects?

EDIT EDIT: Will we also be able to choose electives, even though we will only be in our first year and Electives are for third year and up?

@DomJoe: I will provide you with any supplementary knowledge, but I will try to make things as clear as possible along the way.

@Spriter1 - Pre, very much pre. Probably a solid fifteen to twenty years. No the major's and minor's will give a -20 and -10 to their respective rolls. You will still be given a choice of three classes to attend each morning the schedule will differ each day depending. You will be able to choose from the three electives I give you that morning. Feel free to ask anymore questions should you have any and hopefully that answers both of your questions sufficiently.

Secondly, I'm guessing then that everything is taking place between Tom riddle being a student, and Harry becoming one? Thirdly, I'll work on a sheet in a minute.

Brief Bio: Diana used to live out in small town north of london her parents owned 50 acre of wilderness she could dive into and explore all at her own accord. She studied the animals, played with insects in the mud things a normal girl her age wouldnt normally be doing, but she loved it nonetheless. Little did she know she had...abilities of which she'd never have known, and a part of which her parents didnt either as she later found out she was a wizard child born to muggles. She eventually got her invitation to join hogwarts with the same curiosity and excitement for exploration and discovery as ever.

Brief Bio: Enda has spent most of her life in solitude, living out in the country with a witch mother. She was born to both her and a muggle dad, but her father died in a crash, with both her and her mom being in the car at the time and getting away with her mother being hospitalised for a couple of days, and Enda just having a couple of broken ribs on top of an arm and leg. She was very lucky that day, and only knows that she watched a parent die because of being told so. Her mother tried to introduce Enda to the world of magic little by little, with Enda growing more and more intrigued by the alchemy and creature aspect as she was told about everything else. So naturally when it came time for her to join the school of wizardry, she wanted to do subjects relating to that interest...

Brief Bio: Zali was born into a strict household, with wizard parents who wanted her to excel in everything. She was constantly pushed to perform and behave to their exact standards, and for the most part, Zali succeeded. Matter of fact, the girl didn't seem to mind or care all that much about her parent's treatment. The only thing she showed any interest in were maintaining her garden, quite possibly the only pleasure her family allowed her to have, outside of reading. She would tend to her garden like clockwork, rain or shine, without fail. Her plants always seemed to bloom more beautifully and last far longer than they should have, possibly influenced by Zali's innate magic. Eventually, her parents sent her off to Hogwarts, expecting her to make a great name for herself.

Brief Bio: Abby was born in southern Ireland but raised in England for the most part she was always fun loving and a little free spirited but would obey her mom without a second thought Abby's most treasured belonging was a Tarot deck that her Father left her, He died before she was born so she loved it like she would him, She also always loved Magic and always looked into fortune telling and runes, She studied them a lot and most her Fortunes came true she was so excited when she found out magic was real and she had it that she couldn't wait for school to start!

Brief Bio: Lexi's parents lived in the more poor part of London. They were muggles and had no idea of their daughter's abilities. Her mother was a prostitute and her father did construction work to try and keep them afloat. Lexi from the very start was good at making friends and was often taken on trips to forests. She had a special connection with animals, dogs always running up to her in the streets and deep remaining calm around her when she camped in the woods with her friends. Her parents were shocked when some prestigious school called Hogwarts sent an invitation. So now she begins her journey, her destiny now forever changed as she travels to this strange school.
