Yeah, thanks. I actually ended up originally posting in the main RP section, due to the aforementioned just joining of. But that doesn't mean I'll always be a stupid idiot!
*Ahem* anyway, just wanted to ask if there was any way to join, as the whole thing looked pretty awesome from an outsiders point of view.

Lol, this is the OOC section, so it's all good!

At the moment I'm packed. I'd allow more folks, but I don't think I could handle that many (it'll be "fun" to juggle around nine as-is).

If you'd like to put in a sheet though, I can "reserve" a slot for you, and if someone ends up having to opt out for life reasons or something, I'll give yah a heads up!

Next post is up a bit earlier than I planned. I just realized I had a dentist appointment tomorrow/will be busy most of the week, so I wanted to get it up now.

One not important question tho- may I ask what you think a "thrashed slaver's armor" would look like? I'm just curious, and I like clear pictures of the rp. Something like a raider's armor, perhaps? Or nah...?

Oh, and do you think you'll be updating that character list thingy? Again, 100% out of curiosity.

I hate using Star Wars pics, but this is probably the best example of what typical undamaged slaver's armor would look like:

So make that a male version (Less tight around the torso, flatter in the chest area) and that's what it would normally look like (Undamaged full-fledged slavers armor like this would naturally be borderline tier III armor). All Thorn Tower slaver armor has a distinct blue tone, that blends extremely well with night time, but sticks out during the day like a sore thumb. This is used as a sort of intimidation thing, but unfortunately has the effect of making them easy targets when in enemy territory (kind of like wearing Loyalist gear in neutral/Grey Eagle territories). "Thrashed" armor like the one you found would look like this, but would likely have a half dozen rips and holes in it.

As for the character thing, I was planning to make a new one eventually down the line if I have an evening. Right now I'm working on a "common enemies" list, though honestly the only five "common" enemies are goons (raiders/generic baddies), brutes (generic baddies on steroids), slavers/gang members, Mutants, and Drones, with everything else I have in store being "omgwtfbbqwheredidthiscomefrom" tier.

More or less. Generally "Survivor Garb" would be the equivalent of "padded" or "fur" armor in D&D. It's mostly cloth with some leather strips along vital areas to keep you from getting killed by a single stab. A trenchcoat/overcoat just denotes it's winter-resistant and potentially slash-resistant.

So since my character does have a Trenchcoat then say if i went into the mountains, the cold wouldn't be as effective against my character? Also are there multipliers or extra damage or even extra effects for targeting specific parts of the body?
Ex:
Leg shot = Reduced movement until splinted, fitness -1, Dmg x .75
Or
Arm Shot = Reduced accuracy until bandaged, Dmg x .75 blah blah blah

More or less, yeah. Technically the highway cuts through the mountains, and the only reason it isn't a frozen wasteland is that it's around mid spring (think ~40s-70s depending on the weather/time of day with nights getting into the 10s/20s). The "Mountains" simply represent "rougher" zones where a less clear-cut pass can be found. Think climbing up a mountain slope vs. travelling through a valley.

Not really. A 20 is considered a critical (19-20 on melee weapons to help balance them a little bit) that does double damage, there's a few bonuses for backstabbing an opponent, but otherwise that's largely determined by DRPP.

If a player specifically targets a part of the body, it doesn't really count as a combat shot so much as a fitness/perception roll or skillcheck depending on the situation with appropriate measures being taken to hinder or help the enemy based on what happens. The current "Combat" mechanic is mostly just meant as a way of dealing with head-on fights between two+ people whereas you're frantically struggling to kill them/fend them off (hence DRPP d100 rolls to determine where you hit the enemy, low rolls indicating they managed to partially dodge the attack and take body damage rather than a direct hit).

My limit's eight. I fit in Lil since they asked right as I was cutting it off, but otherwise I'm preferably going to try to get down to 7 players before allowing new folks. I'd love to fit in everyone if I could, but the train wreck that was Wastelands is a good example of what happens when I try to do that (as well as what a poorly defined system can cause)... And it bogs down everyone. :cry:

I am allowing reserves though if you'd like to put together a character. We can even throw their stats/inventory together and plop 'em in the list. I can even shoot a PM your way if it looks like someone's getting ready to drop out for one reason or another.

Sure, but my reliability is about as good as yours.

I'm at a different job but back to 70 hours a week. Because everyone needs shifts to be covered, fml.

I might look for another RP, but I just don't see any as well put together as this one... then again, I didn't look that hard.

Well the only thing is that you have to catch the good ones early on or they will just snowball into these big threads that you most likely will need to catch up on. Idk that's just my opinion, i try to join at the beginning if possible.

Ya, but one of the reasons I left so long ago (other than all the drama I caused with Napsii and Thae) was because this forum started to die, all the active people left Or stopped being active, and RPs were lucky to make it to page 10.

They usually ended with the GM never replying, or if I was running it, the players never replying (probably because it was boring, I always focused too much on story rather than sex). The ones that did run for a while we're awesome, but you never know if it'll be awesome when you join, and in the end it's either a huge let down when it dies, or something you look back wistfully on, like Farlanders.

Main point, you don't know if it'll be a good one or not, I just look for GMs with good grammar and potential for a good or interesting, maybe even hot story.
