Warhammer 40K Galaxy at War IC

You are awoken by a loud siren that rings painfully in your tired mind before being followed by sounds of combat echoing around you. Once you've strained your ears you realise it's coming from outside of the ship. you've reached your destination above a planet occupied by the Imperium with it's Imperial Guards a good start for your warlord's conquest. Before you can even get adjusted you can hear his booming voice ringing through the warship Despoiler. "All Kill teams report to your squadron leaders in the shuttle bay and prepare for battle. Lance team make a move you're heading in first. Glory to the dark gods!"

Geared up and on the move you arrived in the fast paced environment of the Shuttle Bay, soldiers running into positions as they get in for roll call before boarding their own drop ships and each is heading to different target zones. As you look for position you spot your squad mates and your squadron leader at the front being one of the first to take off. The sounds of battle of increased tenfold becoming music to your ears as it fuels your desire to fight with each second.

With a raspy voice Kreen nods to each of you as you arrive only a moment later than the rest of your squad you see ten others all appearing to be in standard gear and eager for battle. A few who appeared to of survived at least one battle having trophies adoring their armour as they listen to the new leader's little speech. "All right you know Lance has the highest death rate and the worse job on this ship. So for you all of you new guys Do your job. You can't or won't i'll shoot you myself. I don't care for your names you won't live long enough for me to need to know them. If you survive by the will of the gods you will find no place greater for the glory of battle! Welcome to lance team." He steps into the drop ship with the sound of your new squad roaring clearly he expects you all to follow in after him.

The shuttle takes off steadily before making it's way down and to your drop point. Kreen once again speaks up. "As lance we are the first in. Our job is to create a beach head. It'll be bloody and I expect i'll need new soldiers afterwards. We will be landing on a plain near the guards trenches. thanks to the Despoilers bombardment we will have craters for cover as we break the first line to the cities defenses. The army is striking at ten different points along the line before it moves in fully. this is ours. Eta is 20. so get ready." As you make your way down into battle you are given time to before you arrive to talk among yourselves or pray to the dark gods.

Aldune, the ever silent Khornate champion, revved his chain sword in preparation for the killing of the fullish Guards that hide entrenched, he will butcher them in the name of the blood god and the city they protect will run red with the dead and near dead.

Drakosius walked onto the shuttle. He hadnt really had time or the need to socialize on the ship. He had focused more on his studies of the Warp.

Having boarded the shuttle with the rest, a morose air hung around Ramsur as he took his place in the shuttle's grav-harness, the whoops and calls of his comrades resounding in his ears, but himself feeling none of the excitement that they felt. His hearts beat stedily, and he gripped his bolter to his chest in the same way he had been taught years ago. Hiis helmet sunk as he gazed forlornly as the metal decking, combat scenarios rushing through his augmented mind as he tried to formulate a plan for every contingency.

Of course, over all of this he felt cold. But curiosity bubbled to the surface at the sight of a female in bold blue and gold armour... Ramsur didn't remember anyone mentioning female Marines during his training. But then, all sorts of things can happen, so why not? Casting his gaze around, he felt... nothing. Nothing at the thought of all these warriors throwing themselves into battle for glory, spoils, or the whim of a God. Him? It's what he was built for. What he trained for. So it's what he would do.

Ryker roared in delight, already beginning to feel the euphoria of a battle. "This will be an excellent battle! The cacophony of screams and yells will be musical pleasure to my ears! Perhaps we will even find some sisters of battle to truly complete a cycle of ecstasy. All are welcome to join the service of Slaanesh.... and me." He laughed loudly as he checked his heavy bolter, eager to write a symphony with screams, blood and bullets. He could see one man revving his chain sword, no doubt preparing to rip through a few pitiful humans today. Most of the members seemed like solid veterans, probably pre-Horus like him, oh the screams would be good today.

Aldune looked at Ryker through his Helmet and stood tall, "I am Aldune the Butcher, and this world shall be pillaged in the name of Khorne, it's armies massacred, the women defiled before their deaths, and anyone left living shall be enslaved." He said and pointed his chainsword at him, "And if you get in the way of my wrath, you shall meet your end as well here." He told him and looked at the others, "That goes for the rest of you, including you, Whore of Tzeentch."

Ryker laughed at the threat that was delivered by the slave of Khorne. "If she's a whore then I lay claim to her body before you rend it! I care not for you name, Aldune but I will permit your existence because you have much to add to the music sheet that is violence. Just be careful where you point your stick because bullets sing louder than swords." He chuckled, pointing his heavy bolter back at Aldune.

"Alas save your much appreciated ferocity for those that would go against both of us. I can guarantee there will be enough bodies down there for both of us to indulge in our vices. No need to start the pile up here when things are so much better on the bottom!" He laughed again, smirking underneath his helmet. This man showed little restraint, a most admirable trait but directing it towards their allies so soon was unsavory. Killing a warm body was such a waste when things could be done to it before the person died.

Callisto's armored footsteps are far lighter than those of her fellow warriors of chaos. Unlike them she never received a geneseed, and under normal circumstances would likely be unable to bear the weight of her armor. But Tzeentch always had ways of ensuring that his instruments were in place when the time came, and His blessings had provided her with the power necessary to imitate the brute strength of her so-called peers. She barely hears the words of the commanding officer, or the lust of the Slaaneshi warrior and his ravings, instead listening to the whispers of the Warp echoing in her mind. That and the peculiar lack of mention the whispers are giving to the only marine not at least gurgling some supplication to one of the chaos gods. Perhaps the great Architect of Fate will deign to grant her understanding of this phenomena, as he has so many others, but it is not yet important enough for Cal to give him more than passing notice.

Which is more than she gives the Khornate warrior and his accusation, or the Slaanesh worshipper's reply. Even if she were inclined towards such base physical pleasures, Callisto is certain that even properly imagining the shape of the Changer of Ways was a physical impossibility. Instead of wasting any more time on the subject, or voicing her opinion on the matter, the Sorceress strides into the shuttle and stands across from the other passenger maintaining even a modicum of silence.

The soldiers around you grunt giving each of you glances as you talk and berate each other. Until finally Kreen speaks back up as he takes his place at the closed ramp. "Brace yourselves we're going in hot." within a few seconds the shuttles begins getting peppered by gun fire rocking the shuttles threatening to bring it down. You can hear bullets and shells bounce off ineffectively off the shuttles armour.

As the shuttles comes into land the ramp opens and shows you over a hundred guards standing between you and your objective all armed with rifles and heavy bolter placements firing up at the shuttle as it comes down to land.

((Nooise))
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

You can hear whispers in your mind each time you look at someone for an extended period of time. As you glance towards kreen you can swear you hear his voice claiming doubts and lies. He apparently expects none of you to live even himself. Appears your kill team is the most ill equipped and is hitting the hardest point along the trenches.

COMBAT
With the ramp open Kreen is the first to jump out and into the fray. He charges into a nearby crater and firing off snap shots at the guard's in the trenches. missing utterly the bullets striking the dirt. Yelling for you to follow him as he heads towards the guards' line. Guards are already firing at you wildly two of your squad mates are already down and bullets bounce off Kreen's armour.

Aldune followed behind Kreen, a bolt pistol in one hand. When he got to the crater Kreen was in he fired a few shots of his bolt pistol and prepared to charge the imperial guards line.

Ryker howled in delight as the bay door opened. There were so many Imperial guards between him and the goal that he shivered in delight. The ground would be fertilized with screams and watered with blood today. He followed Kreen and Aldune out of the shuttle, already opening fire on the trenches with his heavy bolter. He didn't pick any particular targets, simply aiming at whoever was foolish to pop up to try taking a potshot. "Slaanesh will feast on your souls just as I will feast on the freedoms your body as to offer!" Ryker said, laughing manically before jumping into the crater Kreen was in.

"Is this not a glorious battle? My hands shake in excitement, it almost makes me wish there was someone's neck I could wrap them around!" He laughed again before resting his bolter on the edge of the crater and firing across.

Springing to his feet, Ramsur moved forward to the access hatch of the shuttle. He wasn't about to throw himself out into the path of a hundred lasguns and heavy bolters with only his power armour for protection. With a bit of luck, the shuttle's hull would hold up well enough against small-arms fire. Letting his training take over, he braught his boltgun up to his shoulder, scanning the battle line for the most dangerous targets, and snapping off rounds at the closest heavy emplacements. The psychotic one and his loud counterpart could do with less heavy bolter rounds coming their way...

The Chaos Sorceress takes her time getting out of the shuttle, allowing the more hot-headed warriors to soak up the initial volleys. It would hardly be fitting for one of Tzeentch's followers to die from a stray bullet, after all. From what the whispers have told her it's likely best to be careful. This leaves her standing behind the man who the whispers seem not to know about and the Nurglite, and also gives her a clear view of the Slaaneshi-worshiper's overzealous charge. In these early moments of combat it becomes very clear who is likely to survive the mission, and who is likely to die gloriously for their god.

Keeping her force weapon stowed, Cal draws her bolter pistol and takes her time in picking targets. Anyone with a scoped weapon or explosives is the first to receive her attentions, followed by shots of opportunity at any section of the Corpse Emperor's guard that appears to be losing their nerve.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

The sheer weight of the weapon made it nigh impossible for you to aim correctly making all your shots either miss or graze your targets leaving them virtually unharmed. Bullets bounce over your head and you are sure you are letting your bloodlust get to you but you can nearly swear that they sound like the voices of you entire army chanting your name each time they pass by.

Noosie
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

You easily kill your target blowing the head off of the soldier firing the heavy bolter at your squad. the guard falls dead atop the weapon preventing another from simply firing back. Kreen to motioning for you to join the squad you can ignore him. the whispers already told you he will get you killed just so he will live another day longer. but you will lose the protection from being in a group (all shots fired at you will not hit npc marine shields)

ToG
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

You blow a huge hole through a guard scaring his friends before a Inquisitor shoots one forcing the rest to remain in line and continue firing. Your blood is pumping rapidly through your body as it fights to overcome your trained battle sense and charge the trenches gunfire through no man's land.

Gorbaz
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Your trained shots easily rip through two guard soldiers causing the soldiers near them to jump to ground to avoid any more fire. (pin five guards soldiers)

Dnd
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

You cough as you fire to cover your squad and miss badly. a fit of coughing takes you as your body groans with yet another illness upon it by the time the coughing ends Kreen is ordering you to get back into formation with the rest of the squad.

Kreen and the squad
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

(you guys are so lucky out of the 30 shooting at you only five hit. I've never seen so many 1s)
The rest of your squad lets off shots but only manages to claim three lives with their volley. the guards that didn't drop to the ground return fire almost all missing you bullets bouncing off the shuttle or the ground pathetically. Those that do hit equalise the trade off and gunning through another two of your fellow marines. Seems like you five are more blessed or favour that you even out shot your commander who missed completely with his plasma pistol. with a grunt he nods to the squad and throws them over to run to the next crater. You can join them but lose the protection of the crater but it'll bring them nearly in range for a charge as well as using your own fellow marines as bullet fodder while you do so.

Aldune let out a roar and looked at Ryker with a smugness to it, though it was hidden by his helmet, before running with his fellow marines to get closer into the next crater, ready to be one of the first to charge the lines to kill the pathetic guardsmen with his chainblade. He fired his gun into the Guardsmen ranks as he went with Kreen.

Ryker snarled, angry at the fact that his enemies had continued to stand in his path, angry that none had fallen from his hands yet. The anger gave him clarity even if it only lasted for a couple of seconds before the battle lust fell over him again. He saw Aldune's helmet look his way, no doubt scoffing at his lack of kills, he would show him! Ryker barely waited for Kreen to leave the crater before following him. This time he didn't bother firing any shots as he ran, his mind focused on a single plan of action. He jumped into the crater that Kreen had, instantly dropping his heavy bolter and tearing a frag grenade off of his belt. He gave a manic laugh as he pulled the pin and launched the grenade over no man's land towards the trenches. The chaos marine peered over the edge, eager to see the trenches explode into loose body parts and giblets.

Kreen, craven cretinous creature that he is, seems to be a very poor choice of ally to the Disciple of Tzeentch. The man was unfit for leadership even among the forces of Chaos. And yet, he was the only one that could provide anything more than the most basic of cover. Admittedly the Nurglite might be capable of soaking up a few bullets for her, but he was likely to let her die just as happily as Kreen would. Even by the low standards she's accepted for the quality of allies amidst the forces of Chaos, the choice is an unpleasantly poor one regardless of her decision. A decision that she needs to make soon, as she was a tempting target standing away from the protective mass of non-psyker marines.

Callisto briefly considers killing Kreen, but the ever-present logical side of her mind dismisses that as folly under these circumstances. Based on the disposability of her choices, the sorceress decides to remain near the coughing Nurglite and the silent man, switching her efforts from picking targets to laying down suppressing fire on anyone that so much as glances towards the shuttle. A losing strategy if the enemy decides that the trio are the greater threat, but Kreen and the two blood-happy Marines were more likely to draw fire. Or so Callisto tells herself, trying her best to keep the diseased soldier between herself and the majority of the lasguns.

Excellent. Some of the enemy had been forced to ground. That would have to do until Ramsur could get closer. Surging forward, he sprinted for the cover of the craters, trusting that the wall of throw-up mud and stone would be proof against las weapons. He snapped off a couple of shots as he went, aiming to get into rapid fire range where he could lay down a more deadly series of shots
