Pokemon: A Sinnhoe Story

[The Blitz]

This is my first time GMing, let alone something like this, so please go easy on me.

Premise:
Like the other Pokemon roleplays on the site, this will likely be a completely free form role play based in the Sinnoh region. You'll travel around with your starter, collect a team of Pokemon and do whatever you damn well please. Wanna become the champion? Go right ahead. Wanna breed an army of perfect Pokemon? Be my guest. Just wanna try to get into Cynthia's pants? So does the rest of the region. As the roleplay will have no overarching plot to speak of (aside from maybe team galatic's meddling) I won't bother putting up a plot section. So, without further ado, lets get into the mechanics.

Battles; Battles will be without stats, fueled by ballpark estimates of damage and creativity. Your Pikachu's thunderbolt probably won't do much against the big bad ivysaur, but maybe if you have your squirtle douse it in water first to make it more vulnerable to the electricity you'll do a bit more to it. I won't bother moderating player against player battles unless those involved need or request it, but I will be controlling wild Pokemon and NPC trainers.

Pokemon; You'll start with whatever you please. I won't limit you to the three Sinnoh starters, or even being a Pokedex holder who got their Pokemon from Rowan if you don't want. All starter Pokemon must be first stage however and no Legendary Pokemon will be allowed. Their moves shall be determined by their level, which shall steadily increase the more the Pokemon fights. Same with evolutions. I'll keep track of your Pokemon's status, moves, level and such in the first post of this roleplay, so there's no need to fret about knowing what learns what when. Despite not being included in the games, Kalos and Unova Pokemon are very much present and available to you if you so please. You'll likely run into a few.

Leveling: Instead of using complicated exp systems, we'll make leveling simple. Every two Pokemon your Pokemon faints, they gain one level. This scales to level 25, in which case they'll need three to level up. At 50, they'll need four, at 75 they'll need five. Once they're at 100 they obviously gain nothing more.

Canons: Obviously, Team Galactic, the gym leaders and Rowan will be presence. I'm not going to bother including anyone from the anime, but characters present in the games like Lucas, Barry and Riley will be around for the players to interact with.

As for legendary hunting, I'm gonna say no. Taking a legendary Pokemon out of its natural habitat doesn't end very well, not to mention the balancing issues that would come with a player carrying around a Dialga in their pocket.

Personality: Upon first appearances, Skye comes off as a polite, intelligent, gentle girl. While that may hold true for those who do not stay too close to her, when she's alone, she's quite another person. She's really someone who finds entertainment in being shameless, rude, breaking rules and taboos. She loves exploring, for the sake of an adventure. However, she is fascinated with strengthening herself and her companions. And despite her high self esteem, she has relatively low pride in her capabilities or herself, finding that those things make people bigoted and boring. Oh, and she's a nymphomaniac.
Background (Optional): Born in Johto's Blackthorn City, Skye was sent off to live with a relative aunt of hers while her parents were swamped with work as assistants to the Johto Safari Zone's Warden. Despite her intelligence and rather stern upbringing, Skye was known to be a free spirited girl that rough housed with the boys and gossiped with the girls. Contact with her parents was sparse, with the most recent one being a few months ago, when her parents were contemplating whether or not to send her a "Riolu", whatever that was. They later on, through her aunt, told her that they would be sending it to her, when they had enough time. Now, Skye just wants to wander Sinnoh.

Hometown/Starting Town: She is not from Sinnoh she is from Kalos, Snowbelle City to be exact and is flown by her mother to Sandgem Town to regisiter herself in the Sinnoh League with Prof. Rowan.

Personality: Blair is very odd she doesn't understand people or social interaction very well she is also very naive her mother is sending her on this journey to try and help her learn about the way the world works she also has an odd habit to start stripping at random times

Background (Optional): When Blair was growing up all she new was her house with her mother, She was happy and hardly ever left the house as such she grew up very sheltered, when she did leave the house she would often do so naked her reasoning being that pokemon didn't have to wear clothes her mother convinced her later to wear clothes but she will strip out of them out of habit sometimes. Her mother is very old having Blair when she was 65 after being raped in town, now 83 she realized she sheltered her daughter to much and that she might not live much longer and as such forced her daughter (Blair) to go on a journey so she could learn to take care of herself.

Personality: She carries herself in high regard with aura of confidence surrounding her as a façade for her inability to deal with people for extended periods of time before becoming too nervous to deal with them, she can’t refuse a good mystery willing to go to any lengths or do anything just to figure out the answer to it, she’ll only listen to a person’s problem if it intrigues her and seems like it’ll hold a promising reward.

Background: Ada grew up in a rich family that closed her off from the real world her only interaction was to be with her instructor teaching her on how to be a proper lady and her maids and butlers as she slowly grew up to be the figure head for the family and their large enterprise; because of this she never developed any real friends for a long time and instead turned to books as a source of companionship becoming engrossed with mystery and detective novels seeing herself the main character solving crimes and mysteries while never turning down a case. Eventually it got to the point where she would make constant attempts to escape her residence venturing into town looking for trouble left and right, after one too many successful attempts at escaping their manor for night or two her parents assigned her a Sneasel as a form of body guard who instantly became her ‘sidekick’ as she went about solving crimes in town. Knowing that more mysteries awaited her within the region she began making plans to escape her home one more time before heading out to become the world’s greatest detective.

Personality: He is capable of giving people chances upon meeting them though his willingness to remain in contact with most is fleeting since he doesn't like to stay in one place too long. He keeps people at an arms length because he is unwilling to let his defenses drop and he has a tendency to get in trouble and bring it with him onto others. He however connects better with Pokémon than people working with a kind empathy for them. He treats them better than people actually as they are quicker to make him warm up quickly and come out of a defensive shell. Kyle Blackthorn let actions speak more than his words and has a more aggressive and assertive approach when it comes to Pokémon and People. He is willing to take steps and make choices people might hesitate on or outright question.

Background (Optional): Kyle Blackthorn was a person whom enjoyed the company of Pokémon more than people. He just found them less likely to somehow let them down in a moment. They put their trust in him and in turn he put his own trust in his Pokémon. He knew what he wanted to be when he grew up. He wanted to be a trainer. However being in foster care didn't give you a lot of luxuries and as such he had to wait considerably in order to get a shot at earning his own Pokémon, and he studied quite vigorously in hopes of earning his license as a Trainer. Eventually however the day came where he obtained his first Pokémon and struck out on his own at the age of fifteen. However after a few years in Kalos he vanished having left since then for the Sinnoh League without explanation to his foster family, or any person that he was in contact with.

During the time period spent within Kalos he initially started his journey like any other member of the Pokémon League however he sought a better way to climb up. Pushing him and his Pokémon to more intense forms of training it wasn't long before he caught the attention of others. Namely Team Flare and their cronies. After fighting off several of Team Flare eventually was approached by their leader Lysandre. Lysandre managed to convince Kyle Blackthorn upon the true hideous nature of the world. Because of how he was raised he had not seen the better nature of people and willingly joined Team Flare, carrying out their ambitions for years as a silent enforcer. Convinced of their methods being correct he began to hollow out in terms of his own humanity.

However after a while he began to notice that the grunts had no desire for any of what Lysandre was talking of, they wanted money and a position of power. When Team Flare began terrorizing Kalos Region with the ultimatum it became clear that what he had been told was a delusional lie. He had spent a tremendous amount of time thinking he was serving something better when it wasn't. Within the Headquarters as the fall of team Flare was on the horizon, he took advantage of the confusion, and sabotaged the weapon to give the ones that had been constantly against Team Flare the time needed to stop the weapon from firing a fully powered blast. When the weapon fired upon itself, he was long gone making his way towards another region… He couldn't stay in Kalos anymore as he was a wanted member of Team Flare. Leaving his old name he renamed himself Kyle Blackthorn feeling his old life should stay buried.

A lost soul hoping for some new purpose to find, he resumed his journey he had put off for five years. He didn't know what awaited him in Sinnoh Region but maybe there could be some hope for himself.

Personality: Ciera is a person who would put herself in danger if it meant no harm came to others, and would be quite calm most of the time. Her personality completely flips when she is confronted however, becoming very wound up and just wanting to get out of the situation no matter what happens to others.

Background (Optional): Not much happened in Ciera's life is worth noting, apart from her meeting With a boy called Luke when he was just starting on his travels. She heard he is supposed to battle the Elite four any day now... Oh, and how she met Sakura. Ciera was walking through a grove of cherry trees in the forest, loving how they looked while in full bloom, when she heard a cry from a thorny hedge near her. When she walked over to the Bush, it revealed a baby Absol caught up in the thorns, looking badly hurt, and the thing is that there is nowhere Absols are usually sighted for miles. Ciera cut the Absol out of the bush and looked after her, making sure that she was fed and all her wounds were taken care of, due to this happening before Luke showed up, and the Pokemon center being quite new when he first arrived, there was no other way of healing the Absol apart from traditional ways. After the Absol was completely healed, Ciera went to release the Absol, but every time she turn around to go home, the Absol followed behind her, obviously seeing her as a mother after taking care of it. After she gave up trying to get the Absol to leave, she went to the pokemart to buy a pokeball for what was now her Absol. Once caught, she preffered to just keep the Absol out of the pokeball, more having the pokeball so noone else could catch it rather than to keep the Absol in it. She named the Absol Sakura, after the grove of cherry trees that she first met it in.
