Just to update my current stats.

Please try to find the file MIMPUTSAVE2.SOL and keep that folder open. Then you can play the game. If you save the game, just copy and paste this file to another location (dont MOVE it, just copy it). If you lose a given savegame in the a new game (it happens if you clear the browser cache or reset flash cache), you can play the game, save it (in any level), then EXIT the game and FIND that MIMPUTSAVE2.SOL file again. Check if its in a new folder. Now replace this with the old file you saved! Done.

PS: Remember that certain updates (a new version) can make save files obsolete. So, if you see something strange happening (like Peach exchanging clothes in a crazy way), you HAVE to create a new save file, playing the game from the beginning. So its advisable to play the same, enjoying it until finishing it USING THE SAME VERSION.

I've tried this in both Firefox and Flash projector and even after clearing my cache and flash data and all that, it still persists

Did you read the page 1 carefully? Throughout more than 10,000 posts, only 3 of them had this kind of problem. 1 of them was due to a program in the taskbar (like STEAM), and the other had another program (forgot the name). The other had a keyboard hardware problem. Other than that, I cant help, sorry, you have to find out your problem.
