Would love to get a post up, but it's getting pretty late and I need to pass out soon.

Kuragari Wrote:You still recruiting? I've got the thought of making a character....

My idea is to play a half elf/half orc sort of Shamaness/Priestess whose diety is a Chaos God or perhaps simply a powerful Chaos Spirit. Her goal in the wastes would be to spread chaos, whether by aiding the forces of purity or by assisting the hordes of corruption, most likely both. Or, at the very least, something akin to a Wild Mage. Would that be possible?

Yep! Still recruiting!

Hmm... Well, half-elves are pretty rare, half-orcs even rarer since most interbreeding leads to full fledged orcs with mild traces of whatever their other ancestry is.

Powerful chaos spirit? That's probably workable in some way, can just claim it's one of the old world creatures that managed to survive the cataclysms and became attuned in the feywild. Class-wise Shaman would probably work better with it, though a priestess could work for it just as well with a few tweaks spell-wise.

We could always say she's got several elves in her ancestry, and the generational build up of traits resulted in her having traits of both.

Shaman it shall be then, I'll get to work on a CS. Anything in particular I should know for building this sort of character? By chance, what (if anything) are you basing Orc names off?

Hmm, never thought of that. Suppose it fits in with the way they're currently set up. Female orcs are extremely rare but they're not unheard of... I'll probably approve it.

Orc names are pretty much just standard fantasy-setting ones. Language-wise I'm using the Black Speech dictionary for their mix of common and orc-speak when talking, so if you don't have any particular name ideas in mind, it's a decent enough reference.

In other news, I wonder if anyone's figured out which languages I'm using for the "ancient tongue/arcane runes." There's two of them and neither are actually fantasy languages (well, unless you consider science fantasy as a fantasy language).

Character sheet is a work in progress, will edit as necessary!
Character Name: Dajal

Age: 21

Gender: Female

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Race: Half-Elf/Half-Orc

Appearance:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

wow__orc_girl_by_lp_slash_queen-d3carij.png

Class: Shaman

Traits:
Unusual Ancestry- Despite the fact that she has the green skin and tusks of the orcs, generational interbreeding has resulted in her clearly being of two races. This can make life difficult for her in her interactions with others, and difficult even for others who don't know what to make of her. -1 to any diplomacy/social type rolls.

Attuned to the Wild- The art of manipulating magic in its most raw form is not alien to her, and she in fact has a knack for it. Because of this, her spells have less of a chance of backfiring on her. However...when they DO backfire, they tend to do so spectacularly. +2 to spell checks, but if the spell fails high chance of it doing something negative to her.

Information/Bio:
Dajal is the product of several generations of Orcs mating with elven women, her fathers and so forth seeming to have had an almost unusual obsession for the race. She is a double rarity, both within her tribe and outside it, with the former being because of her gender and the latter because of her elven traits. This has left her with having few friends in her tribe, even though she was well taken care of.

At a young age, she was approached by an ancient spirit, claiming to be from before the Cataclysm, and calling itself Rifa. She had already been learning about the powers of magic, thanks to showing a natural affinity for it, but the spirit told her she was being taught wrong, and would help her learn how to truly wield the powers of the feywild. Said learning usually involved causing trouble and otherwise creating chaos within her tribe, which nearly got her banished several times were it not for her father.

As she grew, she become more and more proficient in her magical talents, but she soon found life in the tribe to be boring and stagnant. Nothing exciting or interesting happened anymore, in part because her fellow orcs and the various slaves had grown used to her wild behavior. She decided it was time to leave her home and go in search of wild adventure and fun, and with this in mind, cast a teleport spell with no real destination in mind, save that wherever she was going would be exciting and full of fun...something that not many would attribute to the Wastes.

Equipment/Inventory:
Orcish Shaman Robes
Orcish staff
A small drawing of her father and her one of the slaves made for them

I didn't see a word for Chaos in that list, gonna take a look again and see if I can find a word close enough for the name of the chaos spirit diety thing.

Getting to work on the rest of it momentarily, am sure I'm messing it up somehow :p

EDIT: CS updated, take a look and let me know if there is anything I need to add. Which I'm sure there is.

Next post is looking like it'll be either late Saturday night or Sunday afternoon. I got to get some stuff off to my team mates via email by Saturday/going to see a movie Saturday afternoon with my siblings. Thank y'all for your patience during this busy time of the year.

Yeah, it's looking pretty good. I'm debating adding in a cross-trait to represent the elf and orcish traits partially, but at the same time *shrug*

I'll have a rough list of spells up by the time I get the next post up until I get the new spell compendium finished up and folks can go through it. Since her focus is going to be more on the chaos side of things I'm thinking of greater elemental control but lesser control over the more disciplined stuff like healing. Actually on that note, since she is a Shaman she does get a feywild sprite (unless I'm forgetting my own "rulesets").

I guess the next question is... Solo or do you want to be tossed into a group?

So I'm not missing anything, nothing I need to go in and add? If so then wow, I was worried I was missing something. As for the trait thing, whatever makes things easier for you is probably best :D

Yay spells! Will there be any I'd be unable to access? And yeah, that makes since, things that require discipline should either be unaccessible to her, or just be difficult to pull off. As for a sprite...hmm...what sprites are there? I'd want to give her a sprite that fits the chaos theme and whatnot.

On the last thing...Either is good to me. Could start out solo, and then maybe join a group for a bit (and cause chaos and mayhem  ) and then maybe back to soloing for a bit.

Yeah, thinking trait-wise of just changing unusual ancestry to the Orc "Brute" trait, and giving you the half-breed insomnia trait (+3 to avoid knockouts/sleeping effects, but a DC 12 sleep check with -2 to combat/-1 strenuous activities for the next day when it isn't passed.)

Starting Gold: 10 GP

Starting Spells:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Elemental Entropy- Calling upon the raw nature of chaos, you are capable of shifting the very fibers of the barrier between the feywild and real world when calling upon sprites. This results in potentially far more powerful elemental spells than most Shaman's argueably already powerful control over elemental sprites, but ripping the feywild barriers sometimes causes side effects on your surroundings.

Cure Wounds- Like most shaman you have basic knowledge of curing wounds, but your lack of discipline makes the task very difficult. Purging corruption through magic, for instance (an already difficult feat), is nearly impossible.

Darkseed Slicers- Being skilled in the transmutation aspects of shamanistic spells, you are able to temporarily transform your hands into powerful claws. These claws are slow and heavy in comparison to your hands, throwing off your balance, but beings harmed by said claws sometimes create small rips in the feywild producing fantastical effects.

Perilous Omens- You are able to accurately (80% of the time) predict the level of danger to come your way for the next two hours if you continue with your current course of action/actions. This spell is taxing though, and can only be used twice per day. You will detect the level of danger as nonexistant, moderate, or "life in danger."

Woodwose- When in the presence of nature, you are able to summon a woodwose (standing at about knee length) to perform one simple task. The Woodwose is able to perform basic tasks that do not involve advanced technology, and is only able to complete one task at a time.

Toxicology- As an orc and possessing shamanistic abilities, you are capable of producing a number of toxins and drugs from various natural reagents and products.

Getting the post up now, I feel like I'm forgetting something.

Since Icy Touch causes icicles to shoot out of my hands and into fleshy things among other stuff, can't I use it to climb down the side of the mountain? Normally I'd go ahead and do it without asking but I don't feel like being wrong and falling to my death >_>

Next post is looking like it'll be tomorrow evening. Post afterwards won't be until Sunday since one of my old friends has a play this weekend.

If it ever sounds like it might be a bad idea, my advice is to just go for it!

Nah, I'll usually reward creative uses of items and spells like that, so go ahead. Obviously it'll be a mix of strength and concentration since he's climbing with magic though.

Yep, actually working on a post for some time tomorrow at the moment.

Eventually. I really am trying to work on it... My Engineering and English professors keep pulling fast ones on me and assigning extra work after I've turned in the junk on the syllabus, so the times I keep setting aside for that stuff ends up going into the extra workloads... Found out I have about 8 pages worth of pretty much pop quiz essays due by Tuesday because my professor was pissed about his other classes not turning in their crap and is taking it out on my class, debating ripping my brain out.

Traits:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Seductress: Some spend years training to do what's inherent in your blood... +3 bonus when utilizing your body as a tool to seduce/distract someone, but -3 penalty when trying to avoid sexual acts/the stares of others.

Bio: Karna has experienced much during her young life as a dark elf. Shes no stranger to the dangers of the world around her. When she was a child her village was sacked by a band of human bandits. The town was razed and many of the women and children, mostly female, were sold into slavery for who knows what. Karna was hidden by her mother inside the village's empty livestock pens. From a crack in the walls she saw as the village was burned, men killed, women raped, and children carried off. She has no words and no tears for the event she sat there in silent anguish. Days later an orc trading caravan came to the village only to be greeted by ashes and death. They found Karna famished and near death. They took her in and raised her, for a little while anyway.

Dark elves came to the orcish village she was residing at, the first shes seen in years, they were scantily clad and vibrant. Men and woman alike gawked at them. When the group of woman approached Karna they asked her if she wanted to be just like them, powerful and seductive, the world at their finger tips. She nodded immediately happy to see the future that was going to await her. They took her away into the woodlands away from civilization and taught her many things, the pleasures of life and being a woman among them. At the age of about 18 she bid the group of witches farewell and went to live on her own for much of the foreseeable future with her new friend Arath, her pet raven, rarely staying in one place for too long.
