I just discovered this game recently, and I have to say I'm loving it. Even the almost 2 year old version is the most fun I've ever had playing a Pokemon game.

I was curious, do you plan to have some level of consequence, or reaction to using rocketballs? I realize that it was an old version of the game, and any such feature certainly wouldn't be included yet, but I edited the save file to get access to them and used rocketballs to capture all the Cerulean City girls. I immediately wondered about the possibilities of how this would change the dynamic of the game, particularly between Ash and Misty. Granted this was cheating, and you may likely choose to prevent this sort of situation from arising, but it is a compelling concept.

I'm such a noob. How do you start the game? I used 7zip and clicked on the .exe file, but it opens up in Adobe Flash Player 9 and is just a white screen. How do I get the game to start? Thanks and sorry of being such a noob.

The beach, the hotel, the girls and the tentacles. Why not add a grup of japaneses guys who are making a movie there "the attack of the tentacles part 19"
they could also put cameras everywhere and in their hotel room you can see what they film, one of the videos can be use to blackmail the hotel owner to have a free room
and if the tentacruel attack misty they could film it and put her as the heroine of the movie.

That's actually a very good question.
And I... don't have an answer.
I was just sort of going to let the player do whatever they wanted, and have the story continue regardless.
But it might be a little odd for misty to ignore it.
It seems like Erika's equality cult would put a spin on the whole thing.
For those who don't know what this "cult" thing is. Later on in Celadon city, I plan to have Erika running a cult where she advocates having the pokemon be in charge as trainers instead of humans, because she believes that pokemon are inherently innocent and closer to nature. She's also wrong about that, but it'll create some interesting situations.
Anyway, the main characters would each have their own opinions about that. Which I'll probably figure out when I get to that part. I suppose if Misty agreed with Erika, then that would remove most of the friction that catching female trainers would cause. Besides, pokemorphs are very similar to humans already. Misty could try to justify it like that, but she could also be in denial. If Misty is the one who tells Ash to do it, then she can't really complain about it, even if she has second thoughts later on.

I already have Erika make an appearance in Vermillion city, advocating to let the tentacools get to the beaches. At this part, Misty agrees with her simply because she likes Tentacool and water pokemon in general. At that point in the game, Misty doesn't know about Erika's cult yet.

Well, it should work just fine. I assume that you extracted all of the files, and not just the EXE. The game loads its levels, graphics, and sounds from external files while it's running. It works this way in order to make the game easy for me to edit.
Some people also have problems playing it on Macintosh computers because the intro video refuses to play.

That's an awesome idea. I definitely have to add that!
I probably won't include the hotel part. But just having a film crew on the beach would be enough.

I think this will add a nice touch to some battle attacks.
I can also easily apply the effect to individual characters and objects in-game.
The idea to make this came from playing Secret of Mana recently.

Thank you for the reply, it is a significant enough shift in dynamics to effect how the story would progress. Particularly should a main character such as Misty or Jesse become captured. Again, while I was totally cheating, it was capturing Misty in a rocketball that brought me to ponder this conundrum....is that a pokemon yet? I haven't been keeping track.

In any case, say for example it was possible to capture Misty in a rocket ball. Would she still follow you around on the main screen? Or would you have to release her in order to have her show up. Could you manually change her outfit? Could Ash put her away if he was upset with her?

Just random thoughts from a confessed cheater.

I think it would easily be possible to make Misty optionally emerge during cut-scenes if she's caught. I might want to figure this out anyway, in case I want to add any pokemon-specific cutscenes.
