Link's broken.

I'll agree with Jumbo here; it's all about practice.

I've heard of quite a few countries where army registration is mandated; the only one I could name is Switzerland (funnily enough). Do you live in Finland, and how does the mandated service work? 5 years in, then you're free?

as said this is from 2007 sometime
And yes, i had a reference.

Yes I live in Finland and luckily the mandatory time is maximum 347 days or "1 year". Theres two other times that you can serve too. The 165 days (wich I wants D:) and then the 255.

In its simplest and fastest way of explaining you are a reqruit for 4 weeks, then you go to either different branches of service (driving car, accounting, nomnom making. normal soldier, grenadier etc. or then you go to "Sub-officer" course and after that you lead a small group for the rest of the year.
I am aiming on accounting because it should be pretty chilling work plus its 165 so it would be good for me.
You can make wishes of where you would like to go but the choosing power is still with the officers and they do look at what you would like to do there but they check where you would do more good for the army.
I am getting trained to KILL people (strange to think it in that way).

So I tried to draw some manly faces. And didn't do to badly I think. The scared weird face was already on the page so I drew around it. As you can tell on the two sketches on the bottom right, I didn't give myself enough room. Couldn't get the mouth right. Too small and too far from the nose which also eluded me.
I used some manga faces as reference, though I didn't get very close. The left bottom image was supposed to be broader in the face. But I really like it.

Somethings been up with my connection

Anyway here are two drawings

I tried to show depth by making one eye larger than the other but looking back that might have been a bad idea, and it may have came out freaky looking. I'm still settling on a way I would like to draw things but feel like I'm getting closer.

Greetings.
It seems we have some budding artists in here. I figured I would share some of my work (and get my post count to 10 too!)

Ahh Armoured Core looking things. NICE!!!
I really need to get drawing. Expect more manly faces, I actually have to trawl bara to find good ones*Shifty Eyes*
Anyone know of a good online resource of just manga images of various kinds of faces. I'm not talking tuts. I just want templates to base my versions off. Makes drawing easier.
Next post will contain manliness!

I was thinking the same thing! I love tatchcomas they are so cute! Also Im really happy to see a CG artist, I might try a texture and post it, but that seems like a lot of work, I also consider regressing back to a consistant, stereotype manga just to make a short animation but that also seems like a lot of work, the only option is to give up I guess.*sigh*

Ok I drew these two. Didn't really go well. They both started off well and kinda went bad from there. The first one I killed to hide my shame, but he returned!
While the second was going to have hair, but I don't know what happened. I scanned it in and redrew some lines, but after a while the ones I drew looked weird.
It is my first time taking a sketch and re-lining it with Gimp. So it didn't go too well. Also the line tool made those weird notches in the bald dude's head. I don't know what I did wrong there.
I think I might try and draw Zolo from One Piece next. He is perpetually annoyed and one of my favourite characters. I also might draw the main dude from Midori no Hibi. In the first episode his face is pretty messed up in places, so I will screen shot them and sketch from there.
Might even try to draw something not manly!!

Dude... that was not manly. The best way i know to make something manly is sit down with your paper and shout at the top of your lungs "MANLY ART!!!!!" and then draw manly art.
... i watch to much anime. but in general.... uh, eh! sorry it just to weird for me to call this good, but i wont say it's bad.

on the last picture, i must ask, can he breathe through his nose?

The best way to draw something manly is draw naked gay man sex on a man having sex with a man and giant horsecocks everywhere, now thats manly

Also because I think BlueLight's posts are cute and I feel bad for dumping only my experimental drawings all over these forums, I did female body drawing practice using stereotype kitsune, and because I have never actually practiced drawing female bodies.

These first two are NSFW.

And just in case anybody would like it, here are some old practice drawing from a few months ago of the male torso, they came from a book on figure drawing. The last one has the movement reference upside down, but it just was to keep in mind that when one shoulder is raised the other drops.

What book on figure drawing Jesus? Because they are awesome. Seriously cool and detailed stuff.
@Bluelight had you called those stuffs good I would have questioned your eyesight. They were drawn from my head, so no image to reference them from.
I have a habit of making the face too long, so the nose and mouth are too far apart, while also messing up the positions and sizes of the various facial features.
I don't get to draw much, but I am drawing a lot more lately, so hopefully I can improve a little.
Here is my first attempt at drawing zolo. Source image included. As usual messed up some things, but I think I did well.

I think it was "Mastering the Human Form" by Jack Fargasso, don't take everything you read in that book seriously, it says something like "commit these poses to memory", which is ridiculous and I think demotes creativity, but some things are okay like "learn how to draw things in relation to the body and objects instead of only the head" which I already did before but tutorials are usually done that way.

Here is Bon Clay.
One of my favourite characters of One Piece. Mostly because of the voice(I know the same dude does Franky, but Bon Clay is mad) and the way he is animated.
Drew it from some mugshot of him in prison. There are several others including Buggy in the same style, so I might try to draw him as well.
I quite like it and am pleased how using the different grades of pencils turned out. Did have some trouble because the source image was quite small. Since my image is about triple the size there were the usual facial feature placement issues I usually have.
