On Route 101:ClaireSpoiler (click to show/hide):
Considering the fact that you ran to the PokeBall before you gave your command, it’s almost too late when you it reaches Mudkip. As a result, when she goes to dodge, she doesn’t fully make it, getting clipped by the charging Pidgey before moving into her counter-attack. A move obvious to the Pidgey, so it jumps back to avoid the attack and counters your counter. Mudkip jumps out of the way to avoid that one, still following your command and slamming into the Pidgey. The wild Pokemon still stands strong, but has signs of weakening in it at this point.
SamanthaSpoiler (click to show/hide):
Shadow gives a small affirmative bark at your words, though he looks more interested in an obviously female Poochyena staring him down with the most sultry eyes you’ve ever seen on a Pokemon. She must be in heat or something to so obviously be putting the moves on your Pokemon, though he must be a bit riled up himself to be responding to it in even that capacity. The only reason he isn’t plowing her now is because he doesn’t know how you’d react.
VarenSpoiler (click to show/hide):
On your way, so you see many different Poochyena and Wurmple gathered around, watching the fight with rapt attention, though there are a few Zigzagoon in the area and an almost paltry amount of Pidgey and Rattata. There’s another Trainer who looks like he’s about to get into a battle with one of the few Pidgey you see and another one who is just watching the battle between the Mudkip and the Pidgey unfold. There’s a whole plethora of Pokemon for you to pick from.
JacksonSpoiler (click to show/hide):
Starting when it sees Scarlet jump in front of it, the Pidgey quickly regains its head when she starts bounding towards it. It has an analytical look in its eye as your Pokemon approaches it and you get the idea that it can see what she’s doing. Unfortunately, its reflexes don’t quite catch up with its eyes and it’s a bit slow to dodge. Scarlet’s attack misses for the most part, but the Pidgey gets clipped hard, shaking its head almost as if in admonishment of itself. If you had to guess, you’d say it was too busy analyzing to actually do something, a mistake you doubt it’ll make again. It isn’t too terribly affected by the battle just yet, but you can see it’s trying to psyche itself back up after a bad start.
In Petalburg:TsubakiSpoiler (click to show/hide):
The Tangela sees that the two of you are obviously close to each other… and decides it doesn’t give a rat’s ass about it. It’s horny and it wants relief, damned be the cost! It starts trying to coil it’s vines around the both of you, a few tines under it parting to reveal that the wild Pokemon is a girl. Or would she technically be a hermaphrodite? Well, that’s unimportant. What is is that it obviously wants a piece of BOTH of you now and that the gesture has kind of backfired. Time to employ the last resort?
MadisonSpoiler (click to show/hide):
Norman has a small smile on his face as you explain you came to get into the Hoenn League. To him, it’s like you traveled for the purpose of getting stronger, a goal he most definitely approves of. “I won’t give you specifics since that’d be a bit like cheating, but I can tell you how it works overall. There are 8 Gyms, as you probably already know. Each of those Gyms has a badge that will offer benefits to your Pokemon and allow you to challenge the next Gym. We have an order set up so that the weaker or the Gym Leaders tackle the newest Trainers and things escalate from there. The first Gym you want to find is in Rustboro with Roxanne. She’ll show you the way from there. By the way, I’m the 5th Leader, so you’ll need 4 Badges before I’ll let you challenge me.” Then he addresses the point that he most obviously avoided: Officers. With a sigh, he says, “Over the years they’ve gotten back together, Team Magma and Team Aqua have been getting very good about knowing what pressure to apply where and what money to put where. As a result, Officers are spread thin, trying to combat as much of them as possible and some have been corrupted enough to even look the other way.” Sounds like this place isn’t in the best of conditions right now.
On Route 117:EllySpoiler (click to show/hide):
“You don’t necessarily need a boat to get to Mossdeep. There’s a Ferry that moves between Mossdeep, Lilycove, Slateport, Dewford, and Petalburg, so you can catch that.” Marin says. “And while I say ‘boss’, I actually mean ‘bosses’. You can talk to either Lorux or Madeline Withers in Mauville to get the ball rolling. Good luck!” she gives you an encouraging smile as she finishes and the man behind her stays suspiciously quiet given what you’ve seen of him before. Maybe that face of evil Marin gave earlier is still at play. Anyway, unless you wish to converse a bit more with them, nothing more to do here.
On Route 110:LisaSpoiler (click to show/hide):
Lorux nods his head and smiles. “Alright. A bit of the grand outdoors should be good for you anyway.” He says as he follows you down the path, though at a bit more of a sedate pace than you. Seems he really relaxes in nature, huge problem on his shoulders or not. “We keep it in a bit of hollowed out forest near Slateport. Really, if you’re not looking you’d miss… WATCH OUT!” he cries out just as you trip over a Pokemon while you’re not paying attention.
“Minun!” You hear the Pokemon cry out angrily, picking itself back up after being trampled underfoot by you. Its cheeks are sparking in its anger, though that seems to be in an attempt to scare you as well since it doesn’t look too much stronger than Ditto. Lorux looks on cautiously to get a feel for how you want to handle this situation.
In Mauville City:Steve and DuoSpoiler (click to show/hide):
Trapinch only retreats further behind Chrys at Steve’s words, her distrust of Trainers shining clear. It’s almost like she isn’t paying attention to his words, just the fact that he’s speaking to her. That’ll need some work… After your tirade, Chrys’ expression takes on something between anger like yours and the smallest bit of tolerance.
“When did I claim ALL Trainers were of that sort?” She says in an icy tone of voice. “I said SO MANY, nowhere near ALL, is it? If I felt you all were of the same sort, I would have Psychic’d your minds into little more than paste the instant you came into my view and left you nothing but a babbling vegetable incapable of harming any more Pokemon. Obviously, as I haven’t and am even deeming to travel alongside you, I do not apply that label to you. Don’t give me reason to do so.” Miyu doesn’t seem to have responded well to Steve calling out the closest thing to a mother she has either, almost in combat pose glaring him, daring him to say or do anything more. “Stand down, Miyu. It is righteous anger he holds, not the idiotic sort. If I felt it was a problem, I would’ve dealt with it.” At her words, Miyu relaxes, though still doesn’t look too happy with Steve.
Almost as if to break up the mood, Alexis announces,
“We’re here!” as all of you arrive in Mauville.
“Oh cool, the Withers’ still live here.” she says, pointing out the mansion a bit south of the PokeMart where obvious many trees were cleared to make it. Also in town are the Gym, a PokeCenter, a Bike Shop, the Game Center, and a few houses.
“I dunno about you guys, I’mma see about gettin’ a bike. My old one got trashed by the Underground League.” On Route 120:ElixiaSpoiler (click to show/hide):
In response to your sweep, the Blaziken uses Low Kick, restraining itself enough not to just break your leg, to neutralize the attack. It doesn’t seem to have permission to actively attack you, given all the opportunities it’s had to knock you out. The power it has really should give one pause before considering trying to fight a Fighting Pokemon since it is unlikely you’ll be able to beat it in skill or power. Remember that you are in a forest, surrounded by trees as well. On the edge of your hearing, you hear a muffled curse. Maybe there’s another reason the Blaziken doesn’t leave its post?
