The Professor looks at you and adopts a bigger smile, putting the items in his hands somewhere on a shelf to be dealt with later.
“Well, there really isn’t that much advice to give, my boy.” he says after a long period of starting at the ceiling. “All I can tell you is take good care of your Pokemon, become friends with them. They’ll reward that kindness ten times over. Their friendship in return is a reward of its own anyway.” He puts his hand on his chin and thinks a little more. “Also be well supplied if you can help it. It makes your Pokemon’s life a lot easier. On that note.” He disappears into the back for a second and returns with a bag. Taking one look at it then at you, he seems to instantly know that the pack was made for someone slimmer in size. “Hm. Well, even if you can’t use the backpack like normal, you can still use the items within. There’s a PokeNav, PokeDex, and 5 PokeBalls, and 3 Potions in there for you to use.” he hands the bag over without further comment, looking like he’s done for now unless you have further questions.

Your assurances seem a bit weak to Mudkip, but she doesn’t dare make you more disappointed by disobeying orders, so she launches herself full tilt at the Pidgey. The bird Pokemon almost seems to laugh in response and charges towards your Pokemon itself, the two meeting in the middle and going head-to-head. Unfortunately, the Pidgey has the advantage of not fighting multiple battles in a row, so it manages to outmuscle Mudkip. Still, it seem to come out worse for being the victor, your Zigzagoon’s Tail Whip still in play. Not so much that it can’t shake it off, but it definitely suffered more than Mudkip did in that exchange. A few more Pyrrhic Victories like that and the Pidgey might be done for. Still, Mudkip HAS fought more than a few battles before now. Fatigue seems to be hitting her kinda hard. Not enough to get her out of the game, but it might be time to wrap this up soon.
In the corner of your vision, you spy a Houndour sneaking behind the Pidgey. Now that you’re paying attention, you also spy a man and his Poochyena (strangely wearing a bow…) watching over your battle too. When’d you get a crowd?
SamanthaSpoiler (click to show/hide):
Shadow looks up at you, but then gives a low, affirmative bark. He creeps around back the Pidgey, ready to go on your command. Will the Trainer really appreciate the interference though?

Lilian doesn’t respond as you make your way out of the shop, still angered by your persistence. Still, you mood picks up when you see the battle between a lady and a Pidgey. She swaps out her Zigzagoon for a stronger, but tired looking Mudkip. One that was apparently afraid of disappointing its Trainer from the lady’s words. It seems to fair a bit better than the Zigzagoon before it, but this battle is anyone’s game right now.

Good news is, it’s not a snake. Also good news is that you moved slow enough to hear the loud curse of Team Magma members becoming frustrated over the futility of their search. Bad news… you see that it’s a Tangela currently trying to wrap a vine around you. The way it’s looking at you is… heated, to understate it. Might it be in heat? Any way you slice it, staying here’s a bad idea, yet going out there, with Team Magma still roaming the area, is a bad idea. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, or rather a hard Pokemon, you need a solution, fast.

The PokeBall sails true, the abductors too wrapped up in trying to get out of the way, getting bopped right upside the head. The force you threw it with, combined with the element of surprise, causes him to tip over, but not quite fall, throwing his and the woman’s weight into the woman next to him, in turn causing her to stop and try to right herself and her partner. That’s more than enough time for Eevee to cut in front of them and Sand Attack them, all 3 of them raising their hands up to guard their faces, something the woman they were abducting doesn’t have to worry about since she’s over their shoulders, fireman style. Raising their hands up so quickly causes them to flip her over, making her land on her face, but out of their grasp. The instant she recovers, she bolts for the people who came out of the gym, placing her squarely out of her attackers’ hands. One of them makes a small sound of annoyance, then they all run as fast as they can, significantly faster without the Shop Keeper over their shoulders, out of the town. An older man who looks to be in charge of things steps up with an approving smile on his face.
“Good work, kid.” He says. A sentiment the Shop Keeper seems to agree with in spades by the way she nods her head.

“Sure thing.” the woman says, the Sableye in question looking mildly surprised that he was picked over the Skitty. Rallying once again, the man stands up with a perverse look on his face. The woman’s too busy starting to get the paperwork to see this, so he gets his word in unimpeded.
“I can think of a way for you to get both.” You hear the woman sigh again, followed by a kick to the gut that sends the dude right back on the floor.
“Be lucky it wasn’t the testicles.” she mutters as the last of the paperwork is filled out. Turning to you, she says, “Here, you go! Sableye’s all yours. I wish I could give you the Skitty too, but we have rules against that. Apparently Boss had people try to pick up whole teams from Daycares before.” she says, shaking her head at the thought of it. The Sableye in question looks skeptically at you, but seems to accept you as her Trainer.

“It’s nothing.” Alexis says in deflection of Steve’s question, obviously not comfortable sharing at this moment. Baltoy gives him a mental expression that says not to pursue it any more right now. Miyu, while trusting of Dusky, is gonna take more time to feel comfortable around Steve with only the fox’s word to go on, so she still looks at him warily. The Trapinch straight up retreats to the Baltoy, hiding behind her. The Baltoy almost seems to sigh, then starts a private conversation with the Trapinch that ends up calming it down mightily.
“I wouldn’t ask her again right now, if I were you. Out of all of us, she got it the worst from previous trainers.” Baltoy saids, projecting her psychic voice so every can hear it. Then she starts moving towards Mauville again. “As I’ve already said, if we don’t have anything else to do, I’d rather get moving.” This time it doesn’t sound like a suggestion. It sounds like she’s going to move on with or without you. Alexis hears that and starts moving herself and Trapinch, attached to Baltoy as it is, moves almost before she does. Time to get movin’, boys.

Blaziken looks at you like you’ve lost your mind as you kick a Fighting Pokemon. The look only deepens as you command him to stand down, though it does seem to admire the sheer moxy it’d take to do so. Still, it doesn’t look like it’s ready to let you through, upping its guard in case you try to attack it again. You don’t hear the baying of Houndoom, though you do hear howls followed by the screams of men, so you don’t think you have to worry about them for the moment. Still, you don’t know what else Jordan might have in store, so not spending too terribly long here might be a good idea.

They seem to gloss over their names, either not deeming them important or not wanting to divulge that information.
“Do you think you could, like, maybe build us one?”
“Please! Pretty please?” the two of them say, not an ounce of shame between them. It seems they aren’t giving up all that easily and who knows? This may end pretty well for you.
