Maybe they aren't metalic, maybe they're silicon lifeforms. ie; Organic, just - not carbon based. It would fit since we also have plant people, mushroom people and other things. Besides, I find nothing in the Wiki about them being made of metal. Just being as hard as stone.

Hmmmmmm, so they're like the Cataquacks. Cataquacks are like jelly but we only know that after smashing them in Super Mario Sunshine (and in other Mario games they appear). But instead of jelly they're from other chemical compound. I also prefer 'meat' beings, ALIVE things, really. Dont worry about the feet. Its possible for us to still be in that pose with the feet that way, although just a bit unusual.
