Your feet tire from the mornings journey. Each step forward feels like gravity is pulling you down to the Earth, telling you to stop. Your heading towards Fairtown, the goods from this mornings scavenge could trade for decent supplies. The dusty wind blows against your face and you look up at the sky. It's getting late. You don't know the exact time but it just started to get dark, you assume it's around 7. The nights in the great ruin are cold and dangerous, you know you need to find a place to stay the night soon. Down the road your walking on you can barely make out an gas station, it seems that there may be people there but your unsure. Maybe you could hold up there. However, your survival instincts tell you that it's probably not safe there and finding a nice place to camp for the night outdoors would be smarter. You hold your stomach as it growls, you haven't eaten since this morning. The beans in your pouch scavenged could make a good dinner.

Sitting in Larry's Pub in Fairtown your having a beer by yourself at the front. It's been a tough week. Your low on supplies and you can't find a well paying job. After the three years of leaving the caravan lifestyle things are now just getting difficult. You've had a few of beers, maybe 2 or 3. The bartender, Larry Pinkeye walks over to you. "Need anything?" He says in a droning voice. You look down at your glass, it's almost empty. The bar itself is relatively empty, there is a group of guys in the back of the bar making a lot of racket. By what they're wearing you assumed their with the raider group The Pyromaniacs, a cruel and decently sized raider group. Their camp is pretty close to Fairtown and they often come for drinking and trading. They're talking about their last raid about how they attacked a small community, burnt the town, raped the women, and then set the victims on fire. You sigh, why do scum like this exist in the world. You look up at the bartender as he is awaiting a response.

You take a look down at your watch. 6:45, it's time for the next shift. Your on the roof of the old gas station, a temporary Democrat outpost until the next morning. Your on guard duty, and even though you loath it, it does provide a time to think. You look around but there is no activity. You sit back, relaxing with your Machine Gun on your lap. You feel slightly drowsy, even though it's early. Right before you slip off to sleep you are awakened by a pleasant voice. "Hey sleepyhead," says Julia in a cute tone. You were so startled you almost fell back in your chair, she giggles, "falling asleep on the job again I see". Julia was a democrat like yourself, and even though you were pretty new to the group she was one of your first friends when you joined. She had short black hair and brown eyes. She was a little shorter then the average female, her body had some curves and was very well proportioned. She had a few cuts and scars and her skin was a bit dirty, but getting a shower was very rare out in the ruin so that was normal. "It's my shift so you can go down and get something to eat."

You walk through the center of Fairtown. The lights from the neon signs are shining, the shop keepers and restaurant owners are bartering and arguing with customers, and your in the middle of it all. Personally you hate it here, it's full of a bunch of assholes looking to cause trouble most of the time, but this is the number 1 trade center in the ruin. Your looking for a place to stay and eat when suddenly you see a group of men crowding around in a circle. Your curious to see what's going on. Making your way into the noisy and sweaty group of men you see a man stomping a little boy. "That will teach you for stealing food that isn't yours!" hollered the man kicking the life out of the boy. The kid couldn't have been more then 12 years old. It's not your job to get involved in something like this but you can't help but to feel disgusted by what is going on. The man was probably twice your size in both height and muscle. As mentioned before, it's not your responsibility to get involved, you could just move right along and continue on your way.

You hear a knock on your door. "Can I come in?" It was Terri. You tell her to come in and she opens the door, shutting it behind her. You sat up on your bed and looked at her awaiting to see what she had to say. "I'm here to tell you that you and I are on scavenge duty tomorrow, we're running low on supplies". She looked worried. It wasn't the supplies that was troubling her though. You ask her what is bothering her. "It's just that we're a pretty small group. Now that we left the SA (Salvation Army) we're all on our own out here. What if we're biting off more than we can chew?" She sat next to you on the bed anxiously. "Just promise me no matter what happens we will stick together and get through this."
