"Unforbidden" (3D platformer, tentacle, beast) [2013-02-28]

Hey there!

After greatly enjoying Kyrieru's "Kurovadis" and UrielmanX's "Space Escape," I decided to give H-game development a try myself. I'm pretty new to all this, but I do know my way around coding and I may have some skill at writing :)

It's really fantastic that this place exists since most game development forums shy away from even discussing adult games. I hope I can join the merry band of perverts here :D


About the game:

I'm trying to do this as a commercial project. To limit the scope of the work, I'll go for a simple RoR platformer. And because I suck at pixel art, the thing will be 3D (3D scenes with 2D gameplay). Finally, because I want to get done, I'll do this in Unity where I can concentrate on the game.

I've been working on the game since Nov 2012 (see below). The sex content will be in typical RoR fashion - but I'll try to add some depth to it in terms of the heroine getting accustomed to the player's choices (you can corrupt her to the point that she'll remember her favorite enemy to "interact" with, or you can finish the game cleanly).

Eventually, I'm probably going to need some help in the form of music and possibly some character portraits, but with this being a commercial project, I've got no idea how to handle that yet. Maybe on a commission basis, or in exchange for deciding some of the game's content.

This is R3 (or simply said, the third release) which now includes an almost complete first map, proper animations, a tutorial, mech-driving, corruption, destructible clothing and horny wolves. It's still missing sound and I've only just begin to create a game's world, but you can already get an idea about how the corruption system will work and perhaps teach her that the wolves on Ceres VII (that's the planet) aren't all that bad :twisted:

Interesting concept. The initial startup reminds me of "A Slower Speed of Light" for some reason...

Game mechanics seem to work pretty well. Jumping instead of pressing up is definitely quicker on ledges. I couldn't reach the very top ledge for the life of me, though that might just be me!

Hmm... My tastes in 3D modeling when it comes to sex is very picky, but the game looks like it'll be pretty fun. I'll keep an eye on it! :D

I don't think you'll have any problems with blogspot. A number of H-game designers use it (Progeny, Sex Realm, etc.)

It means "Run or Rape" - the type of game where, if the enemies get you, they may have other intentions than killing you *muahaha*

Oh, looks like "A Slower Speed of Light" was done in Unity, too. That launcher is a dead giveaway!

That an interesting game, btw. My intro happens to touch a similar topic: the heroine locates a forgotten spaceship by discovering its silhouette in front of a sun - but what she sees is 28 years in the past :)

Yeah, I consider solid game mechanics pretty important. Sweet that you noticed! - It's hard to enjoy the spicy scenes if one's permanently pissed off by broken controls or bad collision detection all the time.

There's a trick to reaching that highest platform - from the closest platform, jump right, change direction in mid air and make a touch-and-go jump to pick up enough speed. You'll get no reward for reaching the top, it's just a little challenge built into the test scene. I don't think I'll put counter-intuitive jumping puzzles like that in the final game, except perhaps to hide some optional easter-eggs :mrgreen:

Bluey-chan is still talking like a 5 year old but that's okay because s/he has grabbed in a bear hug... but what this?... He's or she is opening the top and grabbing a cookie... Damn him.... Damn her... Dammit; i wanted that cookie.

Corta made a minigame that was RoR, there's Devil, Angel, and Shinobi girl games, and I don't know any others off the top of my head.

It looks cool, and I look forward to seeing more!

LineMarvel's old Jungle Girl and Demon Girl games are RoR, as well as ToonPimp's stuff is mostly RoR

there's more I can think of but can't remember the names of

I just hope there is some consentual sex with other crew member she met on the way of all this platforming games (either with the male pilots, female engineers, etc etc :p )

I may have to disappoint there :oops:

There will be consensual sex with a sentient partner, too, but otherwise, she pretty much resembles Samus from Metroid: lone bounty hunter on a solo mission to another planet. However, if all goes to plan, this won't be the last game I create :)

Haha, it was a bit mean to post the game before it had any sex anyway :)
Sadly, it will take a while until I'm at that stage, lots of level prefabs and the path-finding code for the enemies remains to be created.

Apart from standard Jump 'n Run enemies that shoot, walk back and forth or crawl along walls, I'll go for a selection or wild life native to the planet she has landed on. I'll be a bit mysterious about it because part of her encounters is woven into the storyline, but there may be four-legged animals, slithering animals and flying ones. There could also be some grotesque things lurking around.

My first goal is to get a minimal, but finished game done at any cost. That means I'll limit myself to a handful of enemies until I've got something playable from start to finish with an ending done.

But here's an enemy I originally wanted to reveal on my blog on Wednesday :mrgreen:

Want any help on the general design of your program? I've learn a trick or to on how to do stuff. I wont help with programming itself because i'd slow you down and i'm working on 2 projects on my own.

What kind of help did you have in mind? Balancing, testing, level making, good-ideas-having? :D

What puts me in a difficult spot is that a) I use paid assets, so I'm not able to open up my repository or provide a snapshot of the development tree without breaking those licenses and b) i as a commercial project, accepting free help and then profiting from it in the monetary sense does trouble my conscience a bit.

Anyway, most of the obstacles I expect are in terms of acquiring sound and music . All music I found so far had ridiculous license terms. And since I can't just rip the moaning from some porn flick, that kind of sound, too. If all else fails, I'll go with these: http://www.freesound.org/people/epanody/packs/5633/ - but they'd need some heavy editing to level out and remove the noise.

For sound effects, there may be members who have found license-free sound effects for their games. If you are at a loss, try the Tutorials section of the forum first, then try PMing some members whose sound effects you appreciate.

I liked a man that thinks about the law and other. So I was talking about coming up with algorithms when I asked. Basically you ask if I know how to covert a two dimensional array in to a linerone. I would reply heres a general way I can think about doing it . Just food for thought I guess at this time.

Ah, thanks, that's a nice offer.
I have written one or the other line of code in my day-to-day business and I currently don't see anything I consider out of my reach, but if I get stuck, I'll come back to it :)

Currently it's all smooth sailing and I can't wait to get done with my path-finding system and the IK rig for that wolf so that we can see some action.
