Is Bored

Had a bit of time, my friend and I are both doing let's plays of series as a plan for this upcoming holiday, he wants to show off one of his all time favorite games, I probably will do the same with mine. Dicked around with the video output function, don't like the built in one for my emulator. It seems to lose quality of sound. I tried splicing the clips together, the program I use is obviously free, just to see if they line up (I will use a better quality one later). Just a matter of getting the audio quality to match up. Video quality is not a problem, it exports it super high quality at about 3.0gb per minute of footage. It's just the shitty splicing program that went ahead and made the quality shitty for youtube uploads. Anywho, expect it some time in the future.

EDIT F***, this is a wall of text and now i have to reread it for spelling errors.... reread it or look like a dumbass.... reread it and be lazy or look like a dumbass....reread it and act like a programmer or look like a nerd.... Okay a quick reread!

so i suggest you try bandicam, I haven't really checked (like i should have) but it should be low size for the files and it records entire video, and 2 sound channels.
It runs externally from whatever software your running and has 2 ways of recording. One is my hooking in to a directX program (okay I have no idea what it's doing but it detects the software using directX 7 - 11 and records that area of the screen.) and provides a FPS counter to the game.
Another way is by recording a section of the screen and this software provides tools so you can just say record this window and it will auto crop to fit the selected window. The only problem with this is the fact selecting the tools and kinda makes them trip over themselves.

Anyways this software is basically fraps and a really good screen recorder rolled in to one. I would advise going with this software more than fraps since it does everything fraps can but better and is a really nice screen recorder (which is hard to find).
Audio is no problem and infact, it will record computer sounds and mic in 2 separate files for you(or into one video file). The only thing i dislike is the video files at the start have a bit of a sound file grouped with them which just annoys me more than anything. The sound bit last for a second and it's nothing really. I could change my settings a bit to get rid of it since mine are a bit strange. I have the video, game sounds, and player audio put in to 3 different files.

As for rendering the video, i personally say man up and play 30 bucks. I got "Sony Vegas 9 HD" for about $20 but the sony site had it listed as $30. That was years ago and they've moved up to Sony Vegas 11. Anyways i suggestion you use a MP4 (Sony AMC i remember also being good. That might be sounds files, in which case it's something else) compression; it's always seemed to get even HD quality videos (given a somewhat reasonable length) to a low file size. You want to aim for 300MB maybe 500MB but anymore and you've got a problem or a long video. I believe Sony does a 30 day trail if you want to try that. I don't suggest you try the professional version because it literally is design for professionals and does not hold your hand at all; or so i've been told.

Virtual dub is a free one that the Let's players seem to use. It's confusing as all hell and requires you to do research on how you do simple tasks. I think you can compress the videos to any format so long as you have the codexs installed.

Try looking on source forge for video editing software. You basically want the Audacity of video editing software, what ever that is. I still suggest Sony Vegas partly because it's a piece of software that was bought by Sony while it was working great and then they made 9 (well 11 but i can't talk for the new versions) versions that made it even better.

The issue isn't the video quality itself, the issue is that I just need something to splice it. My program records ultra-hd as default, and its about 3 gb per 1 minute of video. It makes 1 minute clips as it records to keep everything running smooth. I just need software that is free, and without watermarks/lowering quality of videos to splice the segments together. The test above was just to see if the transition between the segments would be unnoticeable.

Virual dub will be able to splice your videos together but as i've said it's not very clear how to do simple tasks. Best bet is to check source forge. Most free software i've found that does what your looking for and a version you can buy and they normally suck.

I don't think the Sony Vegas trial puts water marks on your video. It's like adobe in that sense but i can't be sure.
