Unguarded Guardians (IC) Part 2

Spotting Dax's move on the de-shielded skeleton, Victor decides to join it with his own. Leaping up into the air, he positions himself to stab straight down, aimed at the link between its spine and pelvis. "CHESTOOOOOOO!!!" he cries out triumphantly, knowing that even if the skeleton were to (somehow) survive all of this, there's not much it can do without a functional lower body.

[Icaelus]

Mex growled her displeasure as Ravenous sliced through air, lacking a bodied opponent to murder. She jumped back, out of reach before shifting away again, this time appearing a few metres on top of the two orcs, using the gravity to lend strength to her strike. She plummeted down, flame blazing to life at the tip of Raven's blade as she twisted in the air on the way down, swinging Ravenous in a wide horizontal arc as she got in reach.
The scythe sang the song of death, inevitable if one did not duck in time to dodge the reaping of their lives and especially, their heads.

Lilia, by virtue of having never seen dark magic before, is taken completely off guard by the elf lady’s attack and by the time she reorients herself enough to be pissed about being under attack, the attacker’s gone.

“What the hell?” she asks simply, trying to get her breath back. “Champions? Paladins? Captain? What the hell’s going on here!? The only part I get is the angry ex-girlfriend! I mean, that shit’s NORMAL in my line of work.” She stands up and wipes the crud off of her ass and extends a hand towards Kaz. “If nothin’s going on here, no need to be here. Let’s get on back.”

Kaz leapt for the sky just as the last of the hellhounds kersploded into nothingness. Loosing a cry of joy, she bounced up and down, pulling a few slick backflips, then the splits, then a nifty pirouette before revolving to a halt in front of Lilia. The girl's arms shot out and she captured the other girl in an almost obnoxious embrace.

"WE LIKE, DID IT! We're da best! Well I think so anyway!" she declared. Then her head swiveled about. A new voice. Someone was here! She glanced dumbly toward the scantily-clad newcomer, almost immediately confused by what she was talking about. The gods played into this? Wowzers! But what'd that have to do with her?

"Durf. Wut." she blinked. Ex-girlfriend? How adorable! Did that mean she and Sort were getting back togethe--

Kaz spun head over heels as a surge of black magic blasted over her, sending her rocketing into the air. After a solid seconds of flying, she tumbled to the earth, Tide flying from her grip to plant itself in the ground nearby. She twitched for a long while, looking rather dumb in a crumpled heap on the ground, until she finally navigated to her feet with Lil's help, groaning.

"THAT WAS SO DUMB." she machine gunned out, bopping her head to get her eyes to roll back into place in their sockets. She shared Lilia's perspective, naturally.

"I know! Let's like, go! There's no time to waste... I think. Personally, if I was her, I'd go get something to eat before I beat up Sir Sort. She should totes do that. So we have time... err, I think we do. Wait, no. We gotta assume we don't. So let's go. Like, now!" Kaz finally managed to make a decision. Her feet promptly exploded in a shower of ice as she picked Tide back up, ice skates forming on her boots. The ground beneath her icing smoothly, dashed forward. Into toooowwwnnnnn!

Lilia's left with her mouth slightly open and her eyebrow cocked, confused, yet again, by Kaz's responses. It sounded coherent, but it kept sliding in and out of sense. In the end though, she decides to just brush it off with a shrug and follow the now suddenly ice skating woman. She creates a vacuum in front of her and a tailwind behind her and takes off, moving without friction to slow her down with the wind at her back to speed her up even further.

"So you think the pissed off ex will be headin' to your other friends?" she wonders. "I mean, she probably won't go to Sortaix himself since she's doin' the whole message thing."

Sort and Mex:

Mex shifted up into the air and began to fall down onto her opponents, her scythe spinning in the air as she spun. Her attack worked to a point, she impaled her scythe into one orc's chest, provoking a flood of blood from his mouth before he fell down. (-40 stamina) (Crit hit, Dead) However, her scyth did not cut all the way through his body, so as she tried to remove it, she ended up taking a hard punch to the gut, from the other orc as he pulled out his other axe with his other hand, before jumping back. (-30 Health) His jump back, did cause Sorts arrow to only hit him in his shoulder, as opposed to his chest. (-20 stamina)(-15 Health)

Kaz and Lilia:

Kaz and Lilia were able to dash off out of the farm and toward town, with no surprises. However, they could not shake the feeling they were being watched. And as they arrived at the town, they happened to notice a rather finely dressed man, addressing the guards in front of the guard station. they couldn't hear what he was saying yet, as they were too far away.

Dax, Vic, and Nyx:

The skeletal opponent is quickly dispatched, as his head was severed from his body. The three had a few moments to rest before the familiar Dax had captured let out a horrid, bone chilling scream. As they turned they saw an elven woman on what was obviously an undead horse jump down, and blast the familiar with black magic, destroying it. She then turned to the group with a rather annoyed look on her face.
"Damn, the Familiars are easy to summon, but those skeletons weren't supposed to get killed. Oh well, you have defeated my minions, disguised as bandits. Now, in the efforts of saving your friends from becoming my slaves. You might want to go find your captain Sortaix, he knows a lot more about why that portal closed than he told you. Also, when you see him, let him know that Sierra Salla is here to settle our argument. Now go back to town, or I'll let Dethorac fuck the two women that killed my hellhounds, in front of the entire town."
With that she blasted the three warriors with black magic, crippling them long enough for her to ride away.

Lilia's been out and out paranoid since she first felt that someone was watching them. Being watched isn't desirable in her line of work and she'd much rather put down anyone doing so right away, but she figures Kaz may not agree with that. Still paranoid, when the first thing they notice in town is a well dressed man her guard goes up about 15 new levels. They are hunting a rich man after all and since she doesn't know how Durach looks like, all rich looking people are suspect. Still, she figures any information out of the man might be useful, so she slips onto a roof and tries to listen from the top of the guard station, looking to stay hidden long enough to get some truth out of the conversation.

Kaz was quick to fall behind Lilia, too often distracting herself with butterflies that flit past her nose as she skated on, or the compulsion to pull a few slick Figure Eights on the path. For whatever reason, she never looked behind her to the road of icy destruction she was paving. The dirt was glazed over with a steel hard mirror of ice, from shoulder to shoulder... looked kinda cool! Would make a really great slip and slide, too. She whistled to herself as the town came into view, not seeming to care for their... being watched or whatever. Merp.

She locked onto the rich dude. What a dumb-looking... jack... dumb... ugly face.

Of course, the girl wanted to hear what to say, so she skated on past Lilia, charging with reckless abandon up to the rim of the gathering.

"Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! Wut is going on here? TELL ME." she announced loudly to the group and the rich dude, still spinning around on her skates.

Lilia forces herself not to groan and facepalm at the sight of Kaz gliding up and making a ruckus in front of the target, if only because the motion and noise would give away her position. She does let her mouth fall open and her face become a mask of chagrin though, her right eyebrow cocked, her left eye twitching, an incredulous look on her face.

'Of course she rushed in. Why was I expecting anything different?' she sighs inwardly then turns her attention back towards Kaz and the men. If things are going to go so terribly wrong, she might as well be ready for anything and try to salvage as much of the situation as possible.

Dax felt a satisfying snick as he severed the neck of the skeleton,"Good. I thought that would be harder... Shit spoke too soon." He said as he looked back and saw the elf woman take out his prsioner,"Hey! I was going kill that later!" He cried alittle annoyed someone had taken out his source of info,"Who the hell are... oh Mex is going to be pissed. Lady you have your work cut out for you." He said with a grin and then heard the last part of what she had to say and his fur bristled with fury,"I know you did not just say that! No one is going to touch Kaz!" He cried angrily moving to run ather when they were all blasted back by necro magic and she rode off,"Shit! We need to get back now! If they know about them than this was all a sham and we need to regroup, QUICK." Dax said helping up the two having most of the blast hit his shield and knock him back.

[Zender_Solarheart]

Victor was about to ask why the elven sorceress - "Sierra," apparently - couldn't give Sort her message in-person, but by the time he could, she was already releasing dark magic blasts. Reacting quickly, he side-dashes over to Nyx, and hastily quick-casts a Teiko barrier. Unfortunately, the shield didn't have enough charging time to be strong enough for such blasts, so the most it does is weaken them very slightly...too little to have any noticeable effect, aside from Vic's would-be passing out to simply be a momentary loss of vision.

When Victor looks back at where Sierra once was, she's gone; apparently rode off on her undead mount. Her maneuver was rather cowardly, but he's thankful that fate dealt them such mercy. Something tells him that they would've been toast if they actually had to fight her...

Arising to his feet, Victor nods in approval to Dax's regroup plan. "Agreed. I don't think we can take that woman with just the three of us...and that's saying something..." He has no idea whom the "Dethorac" that woman mentioned could be, but one thing's for sure: whoever that is, he won't be touching anyone on their team...especially not Nyx.

[Icaelus]

Mex grinned as Ravenous struck home, impaling himself into the orc's chest. The orc instantly died, dragging Ravenous and her down as he fell, trapping her weapon in his corpse.
"Ugh! Fuck off, corpse!"
She growled, turning her full attention to trying to dislodge Ravenous. The other orc took the opportunity to sucker punch her in the gut, jumping away from her retaliation as Ravenous finally ripped free from the dead orc. Mex dragged in a painful breath. Taking a punch to the gut like that from an orc, of all things hurt like a bitch. It had winded her, but she was recovering fast and with a spiteful vengeance to exact.
"Trash.."
Mex growled angrily, shifting directly behind the orc and slicing up, aiming for the crotch. Yeah, don't piss women off. Never good ever comes out from that.

[Sortaix]

Sort and Mex:

Mex shifted behind the orc and sliced up to cut up his crotch. The orc was caught completely off guard as the metal scythe cut up into his crotch, causing a flood of blood from his lower area and a loud scream of agony as she gave him a street castration and neutering. (-30 Stamina) The orc then fell off of her scythe and bled out onto the ground, without causing any more trouble. The coast was clear for now, so Sort walked over to Mex and wrapped her up in a hug, using the moment to heal her up.(-20 Stamina)
"You alright, Mex? A punch like that couldn't have felt good."
He asked her, as his magic healed up her bruised stomach. The cave the orcs came from was now open for exploration as nothing else came out.

Kaz and Lilia:

Kaz barging in on the gathering of the guards was not very well received. The well dressed man, flew angry at her.
"Who the hell are you? How dare you interrupt me, when I am addressing my guards! I will have you slapped in irons for this, you little bitch. Guards! get her and restrain the..."
"Wait Sir Dethorac. Please, she was probably looking for me."
The young guard from before came forward from the group and grabbed Kaz by the arm.
"This woman is a water mage, and I asked her for help to eliminate those monsters harassing the farmers livestock. I told her to come find me after they discovered what was going on."
"Well, you better take her inside before I let your friends take her right here."
"Yes my Lord, I apologize."
With that, the young guard pulls Kaz inside the guard station and closes the door behind them, Lilia does happen to notice an open window close to where they went inside.

Dax, Vic, and Nyx:

The group makes it back to town without anything interesting happening, other than finding their drunk friend from earlier, still passed out. Though, they cannot shake the feeling that they are being spied upon. They eventually reach the towns edge and find a large gathering outside the guard station. A well dressed man is yelling something at a guard going into the guard station, but it is too far away for even Dax to hear. The rest of the people outside all appear to be guards. The villagers are nowhere near the guards, almost as if they are avoiding them.

(Notice! A view into the political scheme of this world will be revealed shortly, please do not get offended, Dax.)

Victor finds the scene rather...well, "strange" is an understatement, but let's go with that. The way the villagers are avoiding the guards, as if there's something to fear from merely approaching them, has him on edge...he might not want to get near them unless the situation demands it.

With that in mind, Victor paces around the group of guards in a circular path, keeping his distance, while trying to get a better view of what's going on.

'Well, that could've gone worse, I suppose.' she thinks as Kaz is drawn inside. It's at that moment that she realizes that her hand was on Red Wind's hilt so tightly that she almost bled, so she takes her hand off it. She also realizes her face somehow took on a mask of fury, so she wipes that off too.

'Sir Dethorac, huh? I'll keep him in mind.' With the offensive man locked in memory, Lilia slips down to the open window and into the guard station, still on guard. That "your friends" part of the tirade didn't sit right with her.

"Aroo?" blinked Kaz, seeing her question met with a dozen fiery glances. She looked up at Sir Dethorac and almost instinctively stuck her tongue out, her body bristling with immediate hate for this dum-dum. Who did he get off as, clomping around, being a jerk-face? She snorted, her hands wrapping around Tide. She saw the guards' armored boots begin forward, but then, hurrah! A miracle in the form of... another guard. Oh, rite. The guy she'd chatted up earlier! What a nice guy, coming in and saving her.

Kaz skated over to him, her icy boots melting into normal footwear so that she might follow.

A second or two later, she found herself pulled inside the guard station. She could feel the hungry eyes boring into the back of her head (and her butt, for that matter) as she was pulled away by the man.

"Durf. Hi!" she grunted amiably as she slipped into the nearest chair that came into view, the wood creaking beneath as she rocked back, lodging the top of the chair's backrest against the wall with Kaz tilted upwards on a 30-degree angle.

"Soo, what didja want?" she blinked.

Dax follows suit with Victor before realizing he may need to speak with this man. He seemed in charge but they people were afriad and it screamed,"Tryannical leader! Come get me!" To him as he had the gaurds close to him and the people shied away. He marched forward with purpose and nodded to Victor in a way that said,"Back me up if this goes badly." He waltzed straight up to the yelling man,"Is there a reason you are yelling so loud? You are making my ears ring. We did the job asked of us." He said simply. He wasn`t going to give this man the satisfaction of lofty speech and politeness. HE didn`t look like he deserved it.

[Icaelus]

"That was fun."
Mex smirked at the orc on the floor grasping at his missing nether regions. He soon bled out without any further trouble and Mex gave the dead corpse a single cold smile before turning to meet Sort as he walked over and immediately pulled her into a hug, using his magic to heal her as they cuddled.
"I'm fine. This makes it all better.."
Mex smiled, nuzzling further into Sort's chest as she basked in the warm glow of his healing magic. Still, all good things had to eventually end and Mex soon broke off the little hugging session, albeit reluctantly. There was pretty much nowhere else to go besides check out that cave now and clear it out, right?
"The rest of the orcs are probably in the cave..we should go clear it out."
She gestured towards the cave, beginning to walk towards it.

[Sortaix]

Sort and Mex:

The two finally pulled away from each other and went into the cave, that the orcs came from. They found nothing waiting for them outside, nor did they find any guards waiting just inside the cave. The necromancer that attacked must have wiped out most of them. As the two went further into the cave they came upon a few twists and turns before coming to large cavern. Inside that caver they saw what looked like a small camp, as well as three more orcs. Sort snuck up a little closer, hiding behind stalagmites until he came within a few yards of the orcs, as fortunately he was not seen. This allowed he and Mex a close look at their targets as well as an unconscious human woman in a cage. Two of the orcs were dressed similar to the their earlier targets, while the third was a large beast of an orc wielding a giant axe. He must be the big boss, judging by his size. The orcs were busy sitting around a fire, eating and not paying attention. This would be a perfect time for a surprise attack.

As Dax came forward to the well dressed man he could hear him shouting to the guards.
"It will benefit our village greatly. Every man will get what he wants and needs, you guards will all betaken care of and allowed to do as you wish. You shall be my men and be given the respect you are do by the people here. We shall rule this town and bring it forward into the future. The mayor here wants to hold to the old ways of decency and equality. He refuses to believe in the superiority of men. Hell! He put a woman in charge of you and all she did was get some of you killed, and herself captured. She can't keep this village safe from harm, of bandits, or orcs! I offer you men the chance to make a difference, that this town might be ruled by a true and strong leader!"
Some of the guards cheered happily, while most of the crowd still seemed a little unconvinced. As Dax approached the man and spoke, He was a visibly angry at being interrupted but as Dax finished, he simply grumbled.
" How many mercenaries did that boy hire? He better not be paying you with the guard budget, oh well. I can still take credit for it. Listen if you are the mercenaries hired to take care of one of our villages problems, your benefactor is waiting inside the station, go get paid by him, and leave me to address my men."

Kaz and Lilia:

As the young guard brought Kaz inside and Lilia came in through the window he turned to them.
" Sorry, that was Dethorac. I had to interrupt fast, or he would have tried to ummm... hurt you. He is on the payroll of the necromancer order to establish a slave outpost here and I didn't want him to try to make you two his first targets. You have to be careful around that guy, he is trying to get the other guards to join his side, so they can overthrow the mayor. Well, did you guys do it? Did you stop whatever was hunting down our livestock? Do you know if your friends rescued my captain yet?"
He seemed genuinely concerned about how their mission went.

Dax listened carefully as the man spoke his shpiel (Is that how you spell it?) about how men were superior and his blood began to boil, his fur bristled slightly, and his eyes glowed with fury. He exercized his greatest amount of self control possible to not simply deck the man in the face and go his merry way. Instead he spoke out against him,"You obviously have never met a woman. I know 4 that kick this entire group of you to the curb before you knew what happened. Superioty of men. Pah! Without women nothing would get done. What would you do beside plunge these people into more fear of you. It doesn`t matter. I`ll go collect the money for the job i took care of that these bullies you call guards couldn`t bother with." And with that he entered the guard outpost daring any one of the bunch to try something. He hated the man`s attitude and would love nothing more than to bring him down a few pegs. He clutched at the shield`s arm brace with a white knuckle grip in anticipation for what could come. All he really wanted though was to see Kaz and make sure she was alright. And while he would love a reason ro punch the man he had to think of the group.
