Introduction.
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
"Uh. Come on. This is just a joke, right?"
The young man grinned nervously at his guard as he unlocked the handcuffs on his hands. They sat in a black van with tinted windows, looking out at the seemingly empty network of alleyways...somewhere in the goddamn world. Icarus had been unconscious for the majority of the trip. He glanced to the guard, a muscular man in his forties dressed in matte black military gear. A massive revolver was strapped to the man's thigh. The man simply raised an eyebrow at his charge, deigning not to speak but nevertheless shaking his head. That was answer enough for the young man.
"Heh. And thus Comeuppance is served by the bitch known as Karma."
Icarus Valentin, head of an infamous crime ring known as "Noctem", shook his head slowly, a wry smile forming on his lips at the irony of it all. Noctem had fell apart as soon as the vamps and lycans had started muscling in. Humans never stood a chance against them, not with their conventional weaponry. To continue surviving and in a last attempt to keep Noctem alive, Icarus made an alliance with the two supernatural groups, effectively assimilating Noctem into the vampiric empires. One of the biggest betrayals one could make upon the human race, working with the vamps and lycans against humanity itself. The bounty placed on Icarus' head by the human governments numbered into the millions and it would ultimately prove to be his undoing. You could never trust the vampire queen. Even if you were one of them. Through his massive intelligence network, Icarus had caught wind of the plan before it was even fully-formed. But knowledge was one thing. His options were few. Either he went back to be jailed for life in a human prison, or get slaughtered by his own men, most of whom were now either vamps or lycans.
Icarus definitely preferred life over death..and yet, here was this situation he was placed in..
"No shit, kid. What goes around fuckin' comes around."
The guard spoke for the first time, grinning at Icarus' obvious dismay as the van's doors opened and they stepped out. He reached for a metallic object, held in a circular holster in his belt and pulled it out. He tossed the entire thing, holster and all to Icarus, who barely just caught it. Icarus turned the object over in his hands and drew the metal object..a extendable cylinder of sharpened metal that extended up to a foot long.
"I figured I could give ya a fightin' chance, eh? It ain't nice to send a lad off without a single hope, ya know? Oh, tip's silver, just ta let ya know. Works on those dog bastards if ya meet one of them out there..and..yep, it's time. Well, off ya go on yer mad dash. If ya survive, we'll see later, eh?"
The guard shrugged, poking Icarus in the back with a finger, his other hand drumming a rhythm on his revolver. Icarus nodded slowly, getting the message. Start running, or die here and now..
"Pick me up in about five minutes."
Icarus gave the man a cocky smile as he turned the stake over in his hands. It was pretty light..but sharp, nevertheless. His only weapon against the vampires and lycans. He looked down the empty alley. It was quite the cruel joke that Ravenwatch was playing on him now. But he deserved it, probably. Being made to run the same gauntlet that he had sent so many other human beings down to their deaths. The man's cocky smile turned grim, his hands tightening their hold on the cold metal of the stake. His last and only line of defense. And nowadays with all the vampires lurking around, an alleyway was basically a death sentence for the unwary that dared venture down it.
He turned and ran for his life.
Four minutes and thirty seconds later..
"GET THE HELL AWAY!"
His voice ripped out of his throat in a mad scream as he plunged the stake into the vamp's chest. The vampire looked down at the metal stake protruding out his chest, shock fading to realization.
Icarus kicked the vampire away, ripping the stake out of the vamp's torso, terror lending his actions strength as he turned and ran once again. Ravenwatch did give him a chance..to make it to the end of the street, out of the alleys and back to them. What lay his future with them, he didn't know and didn't bloody want to know. All that mattered now was surviving, damn it!
His legs pumped furiously and Icarus imagined leaving a series of indents on the road as he ran, hard as his branded leather shoes were smashing into the tar. Damn, they could've thought of tossing him a pair of running shoes before this, couldn't they? His muscles screamed, every part of his body warning him that he was about to die. It made sense. He was missing half his left eye, probably. He was pretty sure he had a few busted ribs and there was a fucking hole in his hand from where he had nearly lost a struggle with a vampire. He had staked the vampire through his damn hand..and it had hurt like a bitch screaming bloody murder. It still was, of course.
Icarus was more or less running on adrenalin right now and it wasn't enough. He could see the darkness eating away at the sides of his vision already, signs of his body giving up systematically. But..he was so near. So damn near. Even with his fading vision, he could see the hulking outline of the old man and several other figures in black, all armed with odd-looking rifles. The bullet magazines of the guns were clear, showing luminous ammunition pulsing with ultraviolet light. Sterling Industries had come through with new weaponry, it seemed..
"DON'T SHOOT! I'M NOT A VAMP!"
Icarus screamed, waving his arms madly to signal to the Ravenwatch soldiers, one of the dark figures already raising a pistol. Shit. A loud, savage growl from behind Icarus alerted him just a second too late. As the spun, the vampire pounced, sinking his fangs into his shoulder and biting down like a steel vice. The rifle rang out and a new bullet hole decorated the vamp's forehead. As the two fell limp to the floor, the Ravenwatch soldiers slowly approached, his guard at the head of them. Voices spoke, but Icarus was too near unconsciousness to make much sense of them..
"...econd too late. Damn. Did he mak.."
"..till breathin', ain't he? We'll bring him ba.."
His fate decided with those two sentences, the man that had been talking to him just five minutes ago stepped up to him, hunkering down and checking his watch.
"Four minutes, fifty-nine seconds. You're early, huh?"
The man grinned down at Icarus, reaching a meaty hand down to dislodge the dead vamp's fangs from Icarus' shoulder. There was a brief explosion of pain, and then everything went dark..

Setting.
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
The year is 2019. Humanity is in both an age of invention and darkness. The darkness being brought upon them by a startling discovery that vampires and lycanthropes, werewolves existed. Both their populations exploded suddenly and before they knew it, the criminal underworld had all but been completely taken over by the vampires, who lived and killed as they pleased. Drugs of vampiric natures stocked the black markets freely and young human women were regularly kidnapped to participate in blood orgies, or whatever it was that the vampires wanted. One thing for sure, they sure knew how to indulge in debauchery and pleasure. It would only be a matter of years before vampires would run the governments of the world, humanity all but turned into simple livestock. They had to act against them, and now..
You will play either as a Ravenwatch soldier, a vampire or a werewolf in this RP. It is not possible to cure your condition of vampirism or lycanthropy, but it is possible to keep it under control with medication.

Luminatus City
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
Luminatus City is a massive city, one originally built by some massive idiot corporation who had thought it was a good idea to build a humongous city and then declare it totally vampire-free. The chairman of the corporation was soon declared crazy, but the damage had already been done. The city was built and the vampires more or less took over the industrial and pleasure ends of the city before Ravenwatch could step in and establish barrier cordons. The city is now divided into half by a wall, Ravenwatch Outposts cordoning off the place. The headquarters of both opposing ends lay on each side, Ravenwatch HQ and their training camp on the residential areas to the north, while Irae presided over the south, perched lazily on her throne, content to enjoy her immortality day by day..

Ravenwatch
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
Ravenwatch is a government military sector that answers only to itself. They combat the vampire and lycan threat by regularly taking down their safehouses, dens and drug factories. Most of Ravenwatch soldiers are human, although there are a few certain special cases of vampires and lycans in their ranks as well. Ravenwatch soldiers are typically dressed in their matte black uniforms and wield a variety of anti-vampire/lycan weapons.

Ravenwatch Weaponry
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
Most of the conventional weaponry, such as ballistic ammunition are still used in the fight again the vampire and lycan threat. While they may not be lethal to them, they will impede and cripple them if you hit them right.
Lethal weapons to vampires is exposure to UV rays or sunlight, or the infinitely more subtle stake.
UV rounds can be loaded in any gun you wish, if you have the right ammunition caliber.
Lethal weapons to werewolves are anything silver.

Vampires
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
Always ruled by either a king or queen, but only once at a time, the previous ruler was named King Roland, a vampire king that had promoted peace for the several centuries he ruled. Many vampires were discontent under his reign of peace, but none dared oppose his overwhelming strength. Not till Irae, a young vampire girl who directly denounced Roland's rule. She spoke of vampires being obviously superior over humans, that they could take the world with enough numbers. Roland had stepped up to kill the young upstart, but instead, Irae severed his head from his body in one single movement of her hand, and placed his fallen crown on top of her head..
Vampires appear human most of the time. It is until that they show their fangs that they are discernible from the average human being. They are easy to kill if you have the correct equipment. Out of all the myths pertaining to vampire slaying, it seems that only the ones about staking them in the heart and sunlight, or ultraviolet light were true. Decapitation is effective too, but then again decapitation is effective on everything.

Lycans
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
The ruler of the lycans will and always be a king, strongest in combat prowess of them all. The lycan usually lived up in the mountains, far away from any human civilization. There was one thing to be said, though. That the lycans would always be the mortal enemies of vampires. This was soon proved wrong when Irae, Queen of the Vampires paid a little visit to the king of the werewolves, Roman. She convinced him that ruling over the humans was the right choice for them, that they didn't need to hide in their mountains any longs. Roman agreed, and thus an alliance was formed between the two..
Werewolves appear human most of the time too, unless they choose to trigger their transformation from man into beast. In their human form, werewolves are slightly stronger and faster than normal humans, but are essentially mortal and can be easily killed with conventional weaponry. In their werewolf form, they are notoriously difficult to kill with conventional weaponry, needing silver to deal the finishing blow to them. Silver is their one bane and Ravenwatch soldiers will always have a silver-tipped stake ready if they ever meet one. They number far less than the vampires, but are definitely more dangerous foes due to their incredible speed and agility.
