Mentorship program?

Postby FuzzFace » Thu Sep 13, 2012 5:51 pm

Why did the chicken cross the road? To show others what not to do, and how not to get hit by a car of course!! This may have been brought up in other forums, but theirs not really a dedicated topic about it.

So let's get down to it; Should the LoK forum have a streaming video...something along those lines to mentor others when creating a game? We could turn a stream into a classroom session, discussing the very inner workings of what makes a program work, and how to go about things. I strongly believe that if someone were to simply observe a member here creating a game, then something might just tick.

A lot of the times, people don't know how to start something up, without any given programs or direction.

We need direction. and erections, yes, but that comes second. There are youtube videos, yes, but it does not help when one-on-one help is required to be guided. there is no substitute for a human teacher.

Thoughts?

We have a tutorial section, a couple of the members do live streams. It's just a matter of getting more people to do it, and to do more advertising.

The tutorial section is so scattered, it's hard to understand where to start. The one that is stikied is a good start, but i feel the entire scope of things can somehow be flexed out to maximize results. :?:

Problem is, unless someone wants to do it, then no one will. Kind of like how we all want a game, but no one wants to learn how to make one. So only a few of the overall will actually go about doing something. The best bet would be to ask Katsuo, he teaches half decently, likes to teach too for that matter, and does livestreams. Even better, he likes making mini-games, and animating, and if you do the artwork he could teach it.
