In rts I go with the flow, in games like this I'm normally planning my next 3-5 turns, with flexibility for problems that may arise.

pffffffffffft YA WISH

i think the thread's interesting but i'm bad with all this complexity (i have the most feeble brain) so i'd rather just play a single character on a more personal level ya know?

I was correct in my assumption that my people found the Hanar from the fact that it said "Foreign: Hanar", right?

I love being able to lead civilizations and armies, amass resources and battalions, craft the ultimate societies or armies.

I planned three turns ahead to begin with, so after this turn, I'll be going back to the drawing board. :P

I want my people to gather resources then use those resources to make their tools better.

Do I need to post that in the IC?

gathering recourses is an option you put in.
using your recourses to upgrade your tools (and thus, weaponry) into stone, followed by brass and iron, is an option as well :3

Hey Rooie,

I'd like to join. :) But I'm a little... uncertain on what traits are selectable? I figured that's largely up to us as players to define for foreign policy, but I was just curious if there's anything pre-determined in that regard worth making note of ;)
Such as a definitive seperation between what could simply be a natural result of evolution, as opposed to a specialisation? (Read: Breathes Nitrogen vs Has Magic Powerz) :P Or am I asking for too much here, hehe.

Without further adieu though! Critique / Request changes if something is off/amiss :)

Race: Hashalaq
Location: Grasslands*
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Rock composite for planetary colonisation, if it's ever reached. Let's be honest here ;) I would like to research certain technological advancements accurately, hehe. Terraforming, all the way!

Foreign Policy: Xenophobic*
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

* It should be noted that while they have no desire for interaction with other cultures and wish remain apart and distinct from the rest of the galaxy, the Hashalaqs outlook on other races is that of disgust and hatred. Their approach is to eradicate anything which is not Hashalaq - due to it being foreign and incomprehensible to their own culture. As such, I was hoping I could entwine a schemer mentality into this policy in a rather basic sense: Get Intelligence on other Races FIRST. Then be evil-xenophobic-dominion.

Specialisation: Psionic

Champion: Keshraa the Unchained Dreamer
Appearance:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

A humanoid wearing an iridescent, pale blue robe stands before you. Hidings its features is a deep hood, from which dim blue light shines. This creature seems to be hovering a few inches off the ground. As you look more closely, you realise that the entire figure, robe and all, is formed from translucent, fleshy tendrils, twined together to mimic a humanoid shape.

In their natural form (see picture), hashalaq are composed of hundreds of translucent tendrils, similar to the tentacles of a jellyfish. They can compress and configure these tendrils to form a wide range of simple shapes (for example, a basic humanoid figure). A point of blue light suspended within the tendrils serves as their sensory organs: They can move this sense organ around to suit their current shape.

i have yet to see such an intriguing race, i might as well say :3
hundreds of tendrils, eh? Got me interested in the main body, do they hide that in the chest area if they would mimic a human's physique?
Also, your race and traits look mighty fine to me. The traits themselves can be just about anything (as long as its not too OP).
I'll throw you in first thing tomorrow :3
in the meantime though, would you like to pick 3 evolutionary upgrades please?

Edit
ladies and a-gentlemen,
After a couple minutes of restless pondering in my soft and warm cot, i concocted a little somethingsomething which some of you might love, and others might hate. But that's life, isn't it?
Hearing the plea and cries of getting a little more personal with your champions, here's what i've come up with.

After 2500 ( or 25 turns) years i will kick your sorry race's asses into outer space. normally, i had planned to give the best player a kiss and a hugg and a heartfelt handshake before leaving, but i figured why stop there? Instead of dismissing the whole rp when we've hit the 2500 year mark, your race will abandon the gods. instead, you will all take up your champions in an epic battle that will determine the supreme ruler of the galaxy! yesh yesh!

you will be gods, until your race will hit the spaceshuttles and explore the milkyway. then, i'll let you switch to your champions and fight, parler, scheme and backstab your way to victory; a victory over yourselves, your allies and your enemies. and guess what? i'll throw in an intergalactic hostile alien force to fight you all just to spice things up. doesn't that just sound spiffy? :3

Doing it spore/regular science fiction style wouldn't be bad, no. Then we'd be supreme commanders, or so I'd imagine. For it doesn't make sense to go into a war in space...
ALONE...

Rooie: Why yes, the main body is hidden within the torso, usually. Overall, it's not exactly what we'd call "simple" to locate. For most part, it's body constitutes the tendrils alone, with nerve receptors and motor neurons spread throughout those tendrils to provide the flexibility in order to form rather simple shapes. (If they really wanted to, they could look like a giant floating hand, but for simplicities sake - Let's go with vague humanoid ;) )

As for my three advancements: ... Hmmm!

1. Exploration (Scouts) - To scout out any potential threats to the Hashalaq way of life.

2. Defensive (Camoflauge) - To better conceal their settlements (so people don't find them and poop over their culture!)

3. Religion (Elders) - We're a smart society, teehee, drawing on the wisdom of our community.

Will this do? :)

NOOOO! I was hoping to be the only one that had elders! *sadface*

Also, thinking of my race; The elementals; I wonder how their space-age technology is going to look like. I'm imagining big ethereal ships in red and blue and green, powered by magic and all. Haha :P
