Spoiler (click to show/hide):
You reach Tear Stone Avenue after a solid ten minutes of running and bounding, and you set foot on a long and wide vertical street with a row of small, wilted trees cutting straight down the middle in between the quartet of lanes. Far to your north and south, big intersections branch off into other parts of the city, but your main concern is the wide sidewalk on either side of the road. The buildings here are quite tall, being mostly cramped apartments and a few stores. The streets are sparse with wrecked cars and garbage.
On the opposite side of the road, a large staircase leading underground is visible, with a large white and blue sign reading "subway" sticking out of the sidewalk next to the blue handrails which lead down.
Heading over to it and peering down the steps reveals what's always been there: a thick steel gate has been pulled over the underground entrance, sealing it off, and no lock is visible. The gate is slick with blood and scratches, but undamaged. Beyond it is the dim champagne-colored glow of lights illuminating the small, beige-tiled lobby where one buys and uses tickets.
You hear a buzzing behind you. A cracked payphone rings noisily on the lip of the sidewalk about fifteen feet away, inside a booth.
You can practically hear Mission's impatience through the ringing.
Also, you can hear high-powered rifle fire in the distance, to the north. It's probably about two blocks away but doesn't sound very focused. Probably just one guy. At the least, it doesn't seem to be getting closer. Maybe a survivor killing walkers or something.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):
Gralmich doesn't give a reply to your comment about the doctors, but you can sense he had a response in mind. He avoids the subject by looking to the crow you had pointed out, however, giving it an indifferent stare. He didn't have to squint his eyes to pick up on the telltale signs of corruption from the virus. The crow, however, seemed quite sane. Perhaps not all animals went rabid when they were infected, just as humans might? Then again, that'd only make 'em more dangerous.
"I've heard that some of the large birds at the zoo were infected, but I don't like rumors," Gralmich remarks, "Anything too small -- like this bird, or a rat or a cat -- usually dies." he adds.
He procures a suppressed SOCOM pistol from a holster on his right hip and raises it with one hand, firing a quick precision shot which guts the crow and knocks it motionless to the ground.
"It retained a shred of its intelligence. Not news to Sirin, I think." he commented, holstering the pistol and walking on past the intersection until he began treading across the parking lot to the giant, rectangle-shaped rec center with its vivid red walls. "Sirinbalt Sports Centre" was emblazoned in a gigantic, once glowing sign over the large assortment of glass doors leading inside, all of which were smashed. The rec center was massive. It had hockey rinks, ice skating rinks, pools, hot tubs, exercise tracks...it hosted numerous sporting events and had just finished renovations before it was damaged during the outbreak.
Gralmich gave a brief look at a TSS-marked motorcycle which he walked past. Field scouts used these...but this one was wrecked, one of its saddlebags open.
Actually, Gralmich probably didn't see it, but there's a small folder with papers inside marked "Classified" hanging out one of the bags. Aries could probably grab them before he noticed.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):
You walk off towards the west and begin scanning the streets. The weight of the Stinger and the spare missile on your back slows you down somewhat, but it's bearable. At the very least you won't be able to sprint for as long before its weight tires you out.
You reach another intersection at the end of the western road and decide to head south, towards the western city. The roads begin to widen and become generally more pleasant. You see numerous wide streets with pleasant avenues and even some of Siribalt's tiny parks off in the distance, through the big department stores and old apartment complexes.
Walking south down one street, you hear a loud chorus of what sounds like rifle shots coming down one alley off to your left. The street's littered with numerous cars, as usual, but you can see some of them have fresh bullet holes in them. As well, 7.62mm rifle casings and blood drizzles the ground in a trail leading towards that nearby alleyway. A few dead, mutated walkers are visible.
Another loud gunshot rings off.
Claire -
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
You hurl a knife haphazardly at the soldier with the M16, just barely winging him. He counters with another bursts of shots as you run towards the water, taking cover behind another row of containers just adjacent to the edge of the docks. You're protected from the turret fire, but the soldier could sneak up from you on your right if he rounds the corner to it.
Your second knife aimed at the turret soldier is stopped by the chain link fence separating you two. However, the .50 caliber bullets he fires back with are not and they wham against the container you're using as cover. Thankfully, neither of them hit you.
You hear a buzzing radio as the soldier with the M16 crouches down to check on his fallen teammate, finding him dead.
"White Crown, this is Spear 1-2. Spear 1-1 is confirmed KIA. Request backup at the docks. One hostile, armed." he says before dashing back into cover where Claire can't see him, taking a grenade that had been on the dead soldier's vest with him.
"Designating myself Spear 1-1. Spear 1-3 is now Spear 1-2, over." he adds faintly.
"Spear 1-1, this is White Crown. Roger. Sending reinforcements, over. ETA 3 minutes." a monotone female voice replies.
The turret soldier waits for you to pop out of cover. The M16 soldier...you have no idea.
Blood spurts out as you bleed from your wounds (minor damage).
Claire Condition - Heavily Bloodied (left arm heavily injured, bleeding for minor damage)
TSS Soldier 1 Condition - Decent (cannot see him)
TSS Soldier 2 Condition - Healthy (waiting for you to show yourself)
TSS Status: Alert
Raz -
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
You decide to head for the harbor and travel in its direction, leaping from high rooftop to rooftop to travel undetected and quickly. No TSS choppers are around right now, fortunately, and they tend to not look up very much so you manage to leap right over several tiny patrols on the street without them spotting you. You near the docks from the western side and hear gunfire from TSS weaponry. Well, shit.
The docks look like a half-rectangle of high, chain link fences topped with barbed wire and several gates isolating the large, rectangle shaped tarmac yard of containers from the parking lots on the other side of the fence. To the north inside the fences a big yellow freight crane as visible, and large dry docks and wharves stretch out into the water, though all empty. A few misc buildings are visible inside and the containers are all stacked pretty high.
Outside the fences midway down the long end of the half-rectangle of fences you can spy a black TSS humvee opening fire with its .50 cal on an unseen target a distance away. M16 fire lit up the air as well.
You're currently outside the fence gate at the south end of the half-rectangle of fences. You could leap right over, but that'd put you within firing distance of the TSS soldiers there. Thankfully they wouldn't be able to see you so long as you stuck out of sight and hid behind the containers.
Raz Condition - Heavily Bloodied (healing...slowly)
Mana -
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
I don't think it understands you, Mana. It's a friggin' monster after all. As such your attempts at intimidation are useless and being on the floor you were quite open for an attack.
The creature leaps from the ceiling and lands on top of you (minor damage) but the real issue comes when it slashes its claws twice across your chest. Your armored vest blocks most of it (medium damage) but it follows up with a vicious headbutt (medium damage) that dazes you. As well, acid begins to leak onto your vest, starting to burn it. It's got you pinned, better do something.
Mana Condition - Pretty Bloodied (semi-dazed, pinned to floor)
[Unknown] Condition - ???
Terrance - Spoiler (click to show/hide):
As usual, you find yourself alone and without a squad. Whether it is because your superiors consider you best used in solo operations or they're looking for a clever way to "get rid of you", it's hard tocount how many times you've been sent, on their initiative, on missions like these.
The far edge of northwestern Siribalt is famous for one thing only, besides its massage parlors: the large, cutting edge nuclear power plant that supplied power to the entire city before its operation was hampered during the outbreak. It was infamous as a battleground, at first. It was located in a small field of grass, the premises surrounded by a high fence with a security gate and two guards. Of course, the guards are gone now and the gates are wide open. The parking lot and the area surrounding the main buildings -- the giant reactor, cooling station and other complexes squished into what is basically one giant, hexagon shaped building with two giant cooling towers jutting up to the sky from the center -- are paved with bodies and smashed cars.
Intrepid survivors had tried to raid the then TSS-controlled station to restore the power when the station went offline, but finding out they had no idea how to operate the plant were quickly killed in a counterattack. In the weeks since, though, it was decided that it wasn't worth holding as A TSS installation as it was of little strategic value and to use it to provide power was too costly for the company's resources versus using generators. And thus now, it's abandoned. There's only a few birds hanging around on the chunky buildings.
You step through the smashed front chain link gates on the southern end of the square-shaped fence perimeter, peering around. You're stocked on ammo for your weaponry and in perfect health. Though, the walking was a bit of a chore. Dominating a rectangular area to the lower lip of the premises is the large paved parking lot, which contains a small administrative building in the southwestern corner with the small door unlocked and dozens of parking spots all around. You spy around eleven or so cars, most of them shot full of holes, parked around there, along with some garbage.
To your direct north, across a grassy median is the main entrance to the building. Metal double doors that can be magnetically sealed to ward off radiation; the entire building is heavily fortified to resist bombing and radiation leaks.
As for why you're here...well, shit, even you barely know that. The order to move out came as a sudden command over the radio when you were stationed at a small outpost about a kilometre away from here. No transportation, they said. You had to walk. You encountered no infected between there and here, but now you're left awaiting further orders. Your radio should buzz anytime now, but it wouldn't hurt to explore.
No movement is visible. You look all alone.
