1. A balanced weapon isn't heavy
2. Using a heavy weapon is an endurance thing
3. Chopping weapons are better for raw strength. Their damage isn't based on weight and doesn ot require much accuracy.

Axes also have a better chance to get behind enemy shields.
That is if you believe mount and blade games. Mount and Blade games must be true because they have combat, on horses back!

just to help anyone pick weapons, here's how I would subject weapons based on stats:

sword: mainly requires dexterity to use, strength helps.
axe: full on strength weapon
hammer/mace: weighted weapons that require endurance to use continuously in battle
dagger/bow: agility and precision
crossbow: straight precision
flail: strength and precision

however, you're all free to choose whatever you like... as long as it's reasonable

yea i was wanting to give civen a crossbow but idk if she could have that and the sword and shield

even like regular archers way back when carried around swords in case the enemy got too close and i think actual knights carried out multiple weapons

Wolf your guy is like everyone is going to die eventually and my guy even though his whole family has been killed acts more happy than urs and he's only like that because battle is part of his culture And he knows the mistakes people can make on the battlefield.
