Greg, for one, can understand why they might have been chosen for this. As Resh pointed out, this is an entire planet on the line. The Paladins believe that humanity alone deserves to rule the galaxy, so naturally, they wouldn't kill their own kind in a takeover unless needed. As such, their skills are required to secure the survivors of said takeover, as well as bringing down the heavier forts.
"Resh has a point, folks...and frankly, there's a difference between 'discharge' and death. I had a feeling I might be discharged at some point, so I brainstormed future avenues I could explore in such an event. Don't tell me you all didn't think of that at least once? Y'know, planning for the future?" He knows the mental stresses that military life puts on people, especially after Ventus III...and to be fair, he was planning to retire eventually either way.
Greg then walks over to Emile, and tries to get him simmered down a little. "I suggest you cool your jets, Mr. Reach. Threatening a ship's captain...well, they tend to backfire in the long run. Not to mention you're doing it in front of the Admiral...believe me, he's not someone you want against you in a court marshall, which is what these guys could nail you with right now, if they see fit." He seems rather calm about it on the outside, but internally, Greg is face-palming at how reckless Emile is. That hot-headed attitude could get them all killed if he's not careful...
