The four characters I posted a pic of are from an old and (IMO) under-appreciated Nintendo 64 game, by the name of Jet Force Gemini.

The guy in the middle is Juno, and the girl to his left is his sister Vela. Both of them were orphaned by Mizar (the game's villain), and are hunting him down both to stop his plan to - you guessed it - take over the universe, with an additional motive of avenging their dead parents. The dog is Lupus, an intellectually-enhanced dog with hover-boots on his paws, but not too much is known about him story-wise. The flying dude is Floyd, the prototype for a "special forces" drone model in Mizar's armies, who goes turn-coat and (after you repair him) allows you to have a semi-co-op mode that lets Player 2 fire his little on-board cannons. He's also the key to a type of minigame, where you fly him through small "missions" to get special items.

If you want to read up more, here's a link to a fan-site with a good bit of data on it: http://jetforcegemini.faithweb.com/index.html

As for Zeldafreak's new set of pics, I'm pretty sure the first character was from Comix Zone on the Sega Genesis (can't remember his name off the top of my head), but the other two escape me altogether...

 :D Comix Zone......Correct! his name is Sketch Turner. As for the second image its... Sparkster from Rocket Knight Adventures! (sega genesis)
And my last hope was Kid Chameleon (sega genesis) Ive been reliving most of the top games from the retro systems in order of systems. im on genesis right now, thats where all this is coming from.
now why does jet force gemini sound familiar...

To be fair, Jet Force Gemini is from the popular company (or rather, they were popular in the N64 days) known as Rareware, creators of classics such as Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, and the Donkey Kong Country games. Jet Force Gemini was a one-hit-wonder of theirs, and quite frankly, I don't think they ever gave it the respect it deserves.

The game itself involves you running around as either Juno, Vela, or Lupus, and engaging hordes of insectoid "Drone" enemies in frenetic run-and-gun action. Your mission at first is simply to open up the way to Mizar's lair, as he's ruthlessly conquering world after world, and the Federation (i.e., the good guys) don't see him as enough of a threat to sic the main military on - despite clear evidence to the contrary - so your team pretty much acts outside jurisdiction to smack him down. It gets more complex later on, but I won't spoil that.

Gameplay mechanics are about as good as any 3rd-person shooter on the N64 is bound to be: controls take a bit of getting used to, but once you've got those down, the action is quite fun and fast-paced. It has a healthy mixture of classic weapons like the Machine Gun and Sniper Rifle in the mix, but also throws in more unique bug-busters like the Tri-Rocket Launcher and the Plasma Shotgun. The enemy AI is actually quite well-made for such an old title, and there's a plethora of stunning alien worlds for you to explore. The only real gripe I have with the gameplay is that you have to do a LOT of stuff just to reach the final boss (won't spoil the details, but I'd say you need practically 85-90% completion just to reach the last area)...but when you do get to him, the game makes sure you work hard for that ending.

And in compliance with this being an image thread, here's a screenshot from the game. :P

That game was legit! I was scrolling down the page and I freaked out when I saw your first jetforce gemini picture zender.... I played the crap out of that game when I was younger. Multiplayer especially. maaan me n my siblings spent hours and hours and hours playing that game together.

Yeah, "hours and hours and hours" is right. First time I played through that game, my ending time was 20 hours...and that's not including however long the other Floyd missions might've taken me (there's only 3 required in the whole game, if you count the very last one).

It was worth it, though, because once I was done splattering Mizar's remains all over his Armageddon-spoofing lair, I was pretty much doing this:
